Thank you -
Absolutely hate myself now
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to rmp09's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you truly didn't need the surgery, you wouldn't have been approved for it. What you're feeling is part of the healing process, and it'll pass. What specifically do you hate about the surgery? Is it the smaller portions? The protein and water requirements? The fact that you just won't be able to eat certain things? If you're healed 6 weeks out, you can start eating regular food again. Go slow and just enjoy the journey of exploring foods again. Maybe talk to your nutritionist, get some therapy. This will pass, even if it doesn't seem like it now. -

Today is the last day of my liquid diet because TOMORROW IS MY SURGERY!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! I'm so so excited. I can't believe it's here already. I'm not even a little nervous. I'm just ready. I have to check in at 7am. My surgery is at 10am. I should be coming home in the afternoon on Wednesday, as long as everything is good. -

How long are you missing work?

I'm definitely going to. My employer was ok-ish with me taking off a week, but when I said it might lead to 2 weeks they said absolutely not. So something that can protect me (and my job) if I need more time is exactly what I need. -

Oooh I may have to look into this then. I'm a salt fanatic lol -
Thank you!!! I have my fingers crossed for you. I have PCOS and while I was able to conceive my son naturally, that pregnancy jump started my PCOS and I gained all kinds of weight and couldn't lose it, then I had 10 total pregnancy losses and had to take fertility meds to have my daughter (and was never able to get pregnant again after that no matter what). I'm thankful for my son (age 24), my daughter (age 15 1/2) and my granddaughter (aged 10 months). With my daughter, my weight absolutely exploded, l and so now not only do I still have my baby weight from my son, I still have it from my daughter too. And then bad eating habits (couldn't lose the weight so I just kind of gave up) added to it and now here I am. And I have MS, so the need to get the weight off and maintain my mobility is imperative. I'm really hoping you get your date soon and get to join us on this crazy journey asap!!!!!

2 days til soft foods
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats!!!! You start your soft foods the same day I'm having my surgery. So it's a great day all the way around lol -
Thanks!!! I actually just edited my post because I saw I said my surgery is Monday and I meant to write Tuesday lol But anyway, I have no clue why I'm not scared or nervous or anything. It's a major surgery that is removing part of my body and will bring about major lifelong changes. Yet all I feel is excitement and impatience lol I'm so so ready to take my life back. Do you have a surgery date? Where are you in the process?

Ok, so today is day 6 of my liquid diet, and while it definitely still sucks, I can say it's not as bad as it was days 1-3. I can vouch for the others that said by day 4 it starts to be a little less crappy and by day 5 you actually start to get used to it. Today it's not really bothering me, other than I can smell my daughter's pizza in the microwave and my mouth is literally watering (I would give almost anything for a piece of the peperoni on top LMAO). I really didn't believe the posts I saw that said you actually start to adapt lol I thought ya'll were messing with me, but lo and behold, it was actually true!!!!! My surgery is Tuesday and I absolutely CANNOT wait!!!! Shockingly, I'm not nervous at all. I thought I would be at this point, but no. Is that even normal? LOL -

Gastric Bypass WITH stomach removal

My husband was prescribed 40mg of Nexium but when his insurance changed and stopped covering Nexium at all, he decided to buy it over the counter. He was started on 20mg and took it for about a year and had some issues near the end of that year, so they upped it to 40mg and it worked great. Still does. That's why he chose to keep buying it over the counter when the insurance stopped covering it. -

Here in the states you can buy 20mg over the counter and you can just buy 2 to take 40mg, which is what my husband does. -

Nexium is Esomeprazole. Prilosec is Omeprazole. They're similar but not the same. They're in the same family but are slightly different. -

Maybe try Nexium? You can get it over the counter and my husband swears by it. He used to take Omeprazole (it's Prilosec) and he still had break through reflux (he has GERD) so he switched to Nexium (his insurance won't cover it) and he's been fantastic ever since (it's been 4 years and no issues at all). -

How did you get approved for surgery with a bmi of 30??? Even if you were self pay (not sure if you were or not) I would think 30 would be too low for bariatric surgery. -
The only thing I'm a little uneasy about is the gas pain I keep hearing about. I had my gallbladder out in 97 when I was pregnant and other than pain at the incision sites, I don't remember any gas pain. I'm hoping it'll be like that now. I had to have my stomach inflated then, too, and I have 4 laparoscopy scars to show for it. Guess I'll be adding more since this one requires 5, I think lol
