My nutritionist told me to just take kids chewables. Like the flinstone vitamins. Just to make sure there’s iron in them. I’ve had blood work twice since I’ve been on them and all my vitamin levels are PERFECT compared to when I wasn’t taking any vitamins and I was deficient in a few things.

    NYS Fidelis/Medicaid question.

Reporting back in case anyone else that has fidelis is wondering. They ended up covering it!

    NYS Fidelis/Medicaid question.

Hello everyone. I’m currently in the process, actually nearing the end, of the pre-op insurance requirements. I just received an “INITIAL ADVERSE DETERMINATION DENIAL NOTICE” from Fidelis regarding the REQUIRED medical nutrition therapy appointments (that I already went to). So my first question is WHY, WHY would they make this a requirement in order to be approved for surgery BUT not cover it? My second question is, has anyone had any luck getting it appealed? Thankfully, I have the funds to pay for it if I need to but my assumption is that maybe there is others that have Fidelis/Medicaid that can’t afford it. It’s such an odd policy.

Is there anyone having surgery in July

I’m scheduled for July 6th! I can’t believe it. I’m not focusing on losing weight per se but I am focusing on increasing my activity level so it won’t be a shocker for my body post op. I am eating whole foods and incorporating more protein but I am still allowing myself a few indulgences here and there, because, need I state the obvious? So far I have lost a few pounds but I’m mostly maintaining. I have worked my way up to an hour = 19 miles on my exercise bike every other day, I know that’s going to help me IMMENSELY post surgery.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

Need recommendations for unflavored/ unsweetened protein powders. I found Isopure at Target and I’m going to pick up a small package to try it. But anyone else have recommendations? I’m looking for creaminess with ZERO flavor or sweetener.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

Mmmmmm cheerio milk!!! I’ll have to try it.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

I guess creamy doesn’t need to be a requirement lol I was being hopeful. I do mix my protein with Califia Farms toasted coconut milk which is amazing on its own. So I guess the unflavored aspect is the most important. Thanks for the suggestions!!

    Post-op tips/necessities

My partner will be taking two weeks off of work thankfully! He is trying for 3 but I think that’ll be too much lol. Thanks so much for tips on herbal teas! I will definitely stock up on my favorites. My greatest driving force in all of this is 100% my children! I want to be able to do all of the things and not feel like my body is falling apart after.

    Post-op tips/necessities

Seems like the general consensus is recliner. Which I have thankfully! I also have a Tempur-pedicure mattress that inclines!! We barely use that feature now but we added it on when we first bought it 3ish years ago because I was pregnant and subsequently nursed both babes since then. So it was very convenient! So glad I’m able to utilize it again!

    Post-op tips/necessities

I don’t even have my surgery date yet (doc said end of May early June) but I’ve already started to organize and deep clean because I know how I am when I sit idle I think of all sorts of things that need to be done. I know that won’t be possible after surgery so I’m doing those random things now hahaha

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

It’s so amazing when you have a supportive partner! I know I wouldn’t have been able to get to this point without mine. He said when I start my pre-op diet he’s going to do it with me.
  21. This is a tough one! I’ve also been trying to figure out what to say. Because I’ve struggled my entire life with eating disorders, ups and downs in the weight department and a lot of the times that I lost drastically it was because I wasn’t treating my body the right way (not eat, binging and purging, over doing it at the gym and constantly obsessing). So having someone comment on my wait good or bad is triggering for me. My first thought is, in this day in age the way things are with body positivity etc people really shouldn’t comment on someone’s weight loss or gain because there can be a multitude of reasons why someone has lost or gained. Another example: my sister recently lost a TON of weight (she was already somewhat thin to begin with) and we were discussing how she feels when people ask her about her weight loss and exclaim how great she looks etc, and she has a hard time with it because first of all, “did I not look good before?”, as she says to me and second, she was actually very ill and it’s the reason why she lost the weight. It’s like people put so much value on who you are based on your weight. So I cringe when I think of what to say. Part of me wants to say something snarky but I’m not a snarky person lol and can’t really think of anything. So instead I’m going to be honest! I’m eating healthy and working out! I already have been eating healthy and working out since I started my program and have lost some weight so it won’t be too far fetched. My situation might be different then yours though because I live hours away from most anyone I don’t care to tell the 100% truth to. So when I see them the 1 or 2 times a year, or every other year that I do, it won’t be so jarring. I think part of the issue is the fact that people think that WLS is the “easy way out” and from reading posts on this forum and hearing first hand from friends that have had WLS that’s is totally not the case. You still have to put in the work to be successful with WLS. And honestly… I don’t think there’s anything easy about going through surgery and getting your stomach cut into and/or altered in any way.

    NYS Fidelis/Medicaid question.

Isn’t it so odd that insurances require certain things but don’t cover them? I’m going to try to appeal it and if they don’t cover it at least I can say I tried.

    Gaining

In all honesty, that’s not that big of a gain. As a women our hormones play a HUGE part in our weight. My weight fluctuates by 5 maybe more pounds sometimes, even as I am working out and eating healthy. My doctor says not to worry, to count the lowest weight. It helps to weigh yourself at the same time every time you do and the morning is usually best.

Alcohol 3 weeks post sleeve op.

I’m down with that but wouldn’t that be empty calories too? I say hit the pen. Just my opinion 😂

    Answers for a Newbie?

I’m curious, when’s your surgery?? I’m nearing the end of my program too and looking at an end of May or early/mid June surgery. I was wondering these same things. So thanks for asking them!
