Good morning everyone; praying all is well with you. I wanted to share something with all of you; Yesterday, my wife and I took our grandson out to lunch. I ordered a burger (not fast-food) and shake.... after eating the food that I shared with everyone, I only had half; I began to have that "dumping feeling". i had the sweats and headache. So yes, after 13 years since the surgery, I still have to watch what I eat. This new life is lifetime.

Same here with the coffee!! Thought I was going to really miss it but it doesn't even taste good. I am 3 weeks out and down 26 lbs. I am sorry about your complications. I cant imagine since I have had none and I am still so weak and tired, no energy at all! I am 66 years old so it may take a bit I guess. My blood pressure has dropped significantly and could be part of the problem. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Good morning; yes, your taste buds will change. You will start to have weird cravings, then, they'll dissipate. The most important thing to do is keep moving. The more you walk, the better your surgery will be.

Yes, just click on the "Quote" tab, and then reply to that thread. I hope that helped

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to encourage all of you today, and remind you, please continue to walk, walk, walk. Walking will help with clotting, and will help improve your circulation. And don't forget to sip, sip, sip those fluids. NO carbonation at all and no straws. Enjoy your day.

Not sure if they told y'all.... NO STRAWS!!!!!! Straws will add gas to your insides... I haven't used a straw since my surgery on August 1, 2007

I am 3 weeks out (RNY) and drinking 52-64 oz a day comfortably now. I keep my drinks varied. Plain Water is of course the best. As far as food goes, go slow. Introduce 1 food at a time 1-2 tbls. at a meal. I was on Clear Liquids for 2 Wk post op. Most of us went from clear liquids to purée. I am using a lil baby spoon and a lil seafood fork to keep my bites small. As for Vitamins, they are very important post op because our nutrition is so limited. You can try a Bariatric High Protein Meal Replacement like Bariatric Advantage for a lil extra nutrition in your Protein Drinks. Talk to your doc or dietitian Re your challenges. This will pass. Keep trying, but go slow.
sip, sip, sip... do not gulp, or else you WILL dump. sip, sip, sip... and NO straws

I know you are upset, but rest assured, when the time comes, you'll be ready.

As a pastor, I've had many people who surgery was postponed and they couldn't understand why.... Well, it's a blessing that you have more time to drop the weight before surgery. This will help with your sleeping and overall health. Continued prayers to you and your family. And great job on the house cleaning... Pastor Tracy

I had the RNY in '07, with your other issues, that is why they are giving you a nurse. Take it, it's free... lol. You'll be fine

No, it is not unusual, it's a good thing. Depending on your type of surgery, you may have a drain ball, and may need assistance in maintaining it. I had a PNA and I appreciated everything she did for me. Feel free to ask, that's why we're here.

I'm doing fantastic. One has to remember, it's a lifestyle change. This isn't a switch you can just turn on or off. Your stomach will reject certain sugars, and mine rejected peanut oil (Chinese food). Once you dump a few times, you'll know what you can and cannot tolerate. My initial weight loss was 197lbs, but I gained 40lbs back over the 15 years since. I don't like the weight gain, so I went back to the foods I ate when I first had the surgery, and I am staring to get back down.

Good morning, I noticed that you are at 207lbs, and you are having gastric bypass? Was this something your doctor recommended, or you just wanted? Just asking...

I know it'll be worth it in the end, but man it's gonna be a struggle.
Good morning, if you really think about, it's not hunger pains, because you are eating, it's an adjustment your body and mind is going through. Once you have the surgery, you'll be eating less anyway, so you'll be fine. Stay encouraged.

You're going to be fine. Just do what the doctor says and walk, don't forget to walk.

I had just turned 46 when I had my surgery. I am no 60+ I told everyone I was having it. I told people because either way, it's not up to them, it's up to you. I am so happy for you and your lifestyle change.
