  1. I totally understand about wanting to talk about it b/c you haven't discussed it much with other people. I don't plan to discuss it except for my immediate family and on the boards. Sounds like things worked out very well for you regarding the insurance, which is a huge feet in itself. I am sure the band with continue to be a great tool in your life, and your continued success. Keep up the great work!!

  2. Great post. I am 28 and also have pcos. I am planning on getting banded w/in the next few months. My main reason...I want to be healthy and have some babies!! I struggled with infertility for 3 yrs now....did clomid, IUI, and was about to start IVF when I decided to pursue banding. I worked with a reproductive specialist and was ok with treating me...my weight was 320 at the time bmi 48 so I think every Dr is different. I am extremely hopeful the band will help me lose a ton of weight and get pg too. Good luck!

  3. That is the same insurance I have. Yeah, I will check back and see if you update. I wish you TONS of luck in a quick approval. There has been a little debate on the 6 months, so that is why I ask that. For instance: BCBSIL is saying Feb 1 to March 1 is technically only 30 days, or one month on plan, whereas, some people are taking Feb 1 as month 1, March 1, as month 2, and so on. I am SOOO hoping it is 6 visits, which is how my surgeons office described it. Only time will tell. Again, good luck and hope you have a really quick APPROVAL!

  4. My surgeon's office said usually 2 weeks, at the latest... BCBS IL right?? Did you do everything to a T? You did the 6 month diet? ...what was the dates of your diet? Very curious to hear your response from ins too, since i have bcbsil and am getting ready to submit mine..... Hope you hear something very very soon...

  5. Yeah that is what I was afraid of. I guess at least I am already 3-4 months in. Did you count your new 6 months as 180 days or 6 visits, which would have ended up being really only 5 full months. April to May = 1 month, or April, May = 2 months Also, please tell me your experience with BCBS IL after you completed your 6 months w/ Dr. Thank you for your reply!!

  6. Hello everyone! I know there are a ton of posts out here regarding IL BCBS and their 6 month weightloss requirement, which I think I have probably read thru ALL of them... lol :) Here is my question.

I have been going to WW since January 2008, and started seeing my PCP monthly beginning in April 2008. So right now, I am 3 or 4 months into my 6 months (depending on how you count the 6 months), and that is starting when I started to see my PCP. Do you think there is a chance, they will count January thru April as my 6 month weightloss too? I am sure hoping, otherwise, I have another 3-4 months before surgery...and I am growing increasingly impatient like many others here....

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated... Thanks!!!!

  7. Hey! My surgeon's policy is Water based, no calorie/very low calorie liquids only. NO Protein Shakes. Basically anything your liver has to process....is a no no. BUT, there are sooooo many differences between surgeons. Just remember, the only reason they are making you do this, is to reduce your liver size...thus making for an easier surgery and easier recovery since they won't have to move your liver all over the place. Good luck!
