  1. Hi,

Was over filled thurs. Got in Fri. morn. for a unfill. I drank Water at the dr. office. Had some warm coffie a few hrs later, then a sip of milk and I was too tight again. Doc. office closed by now and I am slimming again. I stopped trying to drink and layed down for a nap, since I go no sleep the night before. Tried room temp. water and I slimmed. Called the doc, told him I couldn't even drink water again and he emailed me to stay on liquids, I was still swollen. I can't get liquids in!

Sat. I got one 8 oz. power aide sports drink in (the whole day it took me)Now it's sun morning and I have such a cold, throat sore and guess what..can't swallow anything again.

    This isn't fun.

I read some of you had a few days of swelling after a unfill. How long before you can drink? I know with this cold it will slow healing down but someone tell me there is a light coming soon.

  2. This is fill #4. The office was so busy today, I waited 1 1/2 hrs. to see the dr. Gave me a fill, I took 2 sips of Water and he was gone.

On my hour drive home I started to slime, ended up throwing up. (not fun). I can't get hot tea or water down. I am pretty sure I am too tight. Here is the question. Shouldn't I have know right away?

It thurs. night, so I can't really wait it out. It's tomorrow or Mon. Will it relax tomorrow or do I need to go back in the morning?

    This is so not fun.

  3. Hi,

Had my first fill on Thursday. I thought, OK, now things are going to start moving along. Nope, no difference.

The doc said "see ya in a month." As soon as the office is open I am calling in to try to get back in. How soon will they do another fill? Will Thursdays fill magically "kick in" or do I need another one.

I know it is a marathon, not a sprint, but I just want to get off the starting line.

    SAD.

  4. Hi arizonagirl,

Good to hear from you. Glad you are doing well and have recovered successfully.

I am not so good, emotionally......I feel like I should be still losing weight when I know that this is the healing stage. I am scared that my cravings will get the best of me. I have my first fill on 9/18/08 and CANNOT wait! When is your fill date?

I am totally able to eat almost as much as I did before surgery. I definitely DO NOT eat as much as before, but I know I could......nothing bothers me or gets stuck. I am ALWAYS hungry and have absolutely ZERO restriction.......I guess I am in what everyone calls "Bandster Hell"......UGH! I am trying desperately NOT to gain any more weight, I was down to 272 lbs during liquids - post surgery, I am up 3 lbs now. I am trying NOT to stress too much about it and remember that this is a healing stage, not a weight loss stage. It took ALOT to lose that weight, I DO NOT WANT IT BACK! I am actually experiencing alot of cravings.......chocolate mostly........I normally do not eat chocolate. Never really liked it much, my big thing was breads and cakey type things. Eeeeeek, I hope this doesnt last long. I wonder if i can get in for a fill sooner.......

I have not been to the support groups, it is just too dificult for me to get out there with my husband's schedule. I wish there was one closer to me.....it would be much easier to attend and really benefit from others' experiences.

    Keep in touch.

    Hugs,

    J

    Hi,

My fill is the 11th. He wanted to wait a few more wks but I called in the other day and spoke to a nurse and told her I really wanted to come in earlier for a fill.

I also don't feel any restriction. And as you, dropped 10 pds, now up 3. I don't want it back either. Why can't losing weight be like losing your car keys. When it's lost, it's LOST!!

I am in S. Gilbert, where are you? Maybe we can exchange numbers or emails?

    S

Oh, I did get chicken breast stuck once. Not the best feeling.

  5. I have Dr. Simpson also and I am scheduled for 7:30 am surgery. I live in Casa Grande but I would love to keep in touch and be Band Buddies......

I am starting to get nervous....I plan on staying over night since I have lsmall children....I want to just get some rest and concentrate on recovering.

Feel free to PM me anytime and I will see you on surgery day!

    Good Luck!

    Judie

    Hi Judie,

I saw your two boys and husband at the hospital just before I got banded. I was in the main entrance with my son and husband.

How are you feeling? Any restriction? When do you get your first fill?

I get a fill in 2 wks, can't wait. Haven't lost since I got off the liquids. (10 pds)I am very ready to get a fill and start to be a big loser!

The first 24hrs were rough, gas pain. But I am fine now. Back to the gym and back to normal. Might even go swimming this wkend. (think it's been 3 wks?)

Love to hear how it's going for you.

Are you going to any support groups?

    S

  6. Gosh I hope you can find somebody to help with your son, I feel a lot better today but nowhere near well enough to take care of a 3 year old. I'm so thankful my husband was able to take a few days off.

    Hi,

My husband took another day off! What a guy!

It's been 4 hrs since I took pain meds. I had a shower, then cleaned 3 of my bathrooms. Seems if I keep busy and move it helps a bit. But then decided I might be over doing it, time to sit down. And boom, out of wind, and pain again and I am tired.

Ha ha ha, what a road this will be.

    Have a great day

  7. Hi arizonagirl, you are far from being a big baby. You´ve just had surgery, this band is not as easy as people seem to think it is. Your tummy has been probed and cut and gas put in it. It will take some time for the swelling to go down, some people are lot more sensitive to the surgery than others.

Try take it easy, relax, drink lots of little sips of Water, clear Soups, nutritian shakes, whatever your doctor suggested so that you can help your body heal. I promise it gets better. Hang in there.

Congrats on making the healthiest decision in your life.

    Mrs J.J.

    Thanks Mrs. J.J.

I know it will get better but just never thought it would feel this bad. Even my Doc. in pre-op told me what a walk in the park it would be.

The sun is up now and my sweet husband is talking the day off to watch our boy. Today will be better.

  8. I am still not able to lay on my left side yet. I get nauseated when I lay on that side. Someone on the site mentioned that it is due to the way the stomach is positioned when laying this way.

I hope you both are feeling better. It did take me until day 5/6 to really feel that I had gotten past the worst of it.

    Gilta

    5/6 days!! OMG

I hate the cramps in my left side when I inhale. And my chest feels like a ton is on it.

Thanks for your reply, hope you feel better each day.

  9. Well it's done and I'm home! I was unprepared for how much I would hurt, it's been really bad. I was a huge baby in recovery, kept crying and saying how stupid I was and why did I do this to myself. My nurses were angels though and they took excellent care of me. Both the trapped gas and the incisional pain are just awful. They discovered and repaied a large hiatal hernia and I assume that's why I'm so much more sore than expected. I'm sitting here trying to sip on my broth but it's hard to get more than a sip or two down, I guess I'm pretty swollen and irritated in there. I know I'll be glad I did it in a couple days, but right now I'm just miserable and wishing I had made a run for the door when I could.

Anybody else find they were unable to throw up after surgery? I've had a couple bouts of nausea, and it was nothing more than violent dry heaves. Very little was in my stomach but nothing at all came up.

    Hi,

I was bandes at 9 this morn. and home by 2ish.

Crap! I am in so much pain now. They also repaired a hernia on me.

It's after 3 in the morning and I am hurting.

I am going to try some of the suggestions I have just read.

Laying on my left side and bringing my right knee up?

sleeping or (suffering) in the recliner instead of the bed.

Haven't done them yet but sure hope I can get some releif.

My husband goes to wk at 6:00, then I am on my own with our 3 yr old, active boy. I am scared.

Good luck and I hope you feel comfortable soon.

  10. Did your doc give you liquid hydrocodone for the pain? Mine did. Also, try gas-x strips for the gas pain. If the port pain is too much, call your doc for permission to take more of the liquid hydrocodone. I was on 2 tsp every 4-6 hours and thought I was going to die of pain. I called the doc and he said take 2 Tbsp instead and it was much much better. Good luck!

I was banded this morn. at 9:30 and home by 2ish.

It is 3:30 in the morning and I want to cry, but it hurts too much.

My back (under my angel wings), and my chest. My tummy!!!

    What have I done?

I did a full Tummy Tuck with muscle repair a few years ago and don't remember this kind of pain.

My husband works tomorrow and I will be caring for my very active 3 yr old son. I was told this was easy, just some discomfort, so this pain is a bit of a surprise.

Doc said not to take too much pain meds, because walking is way better and meds will make you sleep.

    Need some cheering up words.

    Thanks

  11. I'm with you. I'm 7 days out and I am still sore & have gas pains still. Today, I have to say is the best day. I am still a little weak but I think it's because I'm haveing a hard time getting my Protein. Good Luck everyone. Hope all goes well.

    Hi,

    Am I a big baby?

Had my surgery this morning at 9:30 and was home by 2:00 but I am in so much pain.

In my back, chest, boobs! My stomach area is so soar, between my ribs in front. I want to cry but that would hurt too bad.

I had a c-section and a full Tummy Tuck and they hurt but I could find some relief but this...

It is 3:14 in the morn. and I am scared and in pain.

    Is this normal?

Oh, and I am walking but not sure how much that helps.

  12. Hello, My name is Lisa and I am having my procedure on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. I signed up to meet new friends and people going to get it done and had it done.:)

    Hi Lisa,

I am getting mine at 9:00, Tues. morn! I can't wait.

I will say, I will miss some things.

Did you have to diet before it's done?

I wish you all the best.

I love to hear how you are doing in the recovery stage.

    S.

  13. Hello, sorry to barge in but I had my surgery at 730 and I was out of the surgical center around 2:45. Congrats on the date it will come. Good Luck!

When did you get yours done? Did you loose fast? Did you get that pain in your shoulder? Were you able to walk around with ease the next day?

Do you go to the support groups? Are there ones close to us? I am Gilbert, I think I noticed you are Mesa?

What is the biggest change you have had to make? Are you glad you did it? How hard is it to stick to the diet now? Did you tell people?

What foods can you eat or what food is hard for you? How long were you on liquids? See, lots of questions. i wish I could talk on the phone to someone that has done it.

    Thanks

  14. Thanks for the reponse. I am so excited to get on with my new life.

The 12th seems sooo far away.

Darci in the office said to be there at 6:00, surgery at 9:30 and the have my husband wait around because I'll be out of there that quick.

BigDog says he had a 9:00 and didn't leave till 5:00 that eve. How long was it before you got sent home?

    Thanks

  15. Hi bigdog

What does that mean, no restriction. I have read that alot on this board.

Are you still on liquids? Loosing weight? How long did you take to feel "better"? After surgery, how long was it before you went to the market or walked around the block?

Do you go to support groups?

How well did you do on you pre-op diet?

  16. Hi everyone,

I go for my consult today! At 3:00!! I am so excited. I am self pay so I am guessing things will go pretty fast from here on. I think.

I am seeing Dr. Jerry Simpson. Anyone else go to him?

I am hoping to meet others in Gilbert or Chandler to talk with. Help me along the way.

Any advice? Oh, how does anyone survive the pre-op diet without cheating?

  17. Hi everyone,

    I am new here.

I am going in for a consult on Mon. with Dr. Jerry Simpson in Phoenix.

I have been reading as much as I can on the Band. But what can I expect? Will I be hungry? How long is long recovery, really?

I had a TT/MR 2 yrs ago and my dr. said it would be about 6 wks recovery, it was more like a few months before I could work out.

I am self pay so this should happen fast.

    Any one else in AZ?

Oh, how do you survive the pre-op diet?
