  1. You know what, I think that if I was to loose weight that I would be happy. I have blamed me being unhappy on my weight all my life. I work with a lady who is over weight like I am but she lives life to the fullest. She doesn't let her size get in the way of her doing what she wants. Now only if I could do that ~ I think I would be happier.
  2. That is wonderful news. I hope I don't have to jump through anymore hoops. I'm tired, I think I'm trained by now! I had the 6 month dr supervised visits done when I went to see Dr Miles for the first time, so all I had left was the normal stuff. I hope you and me both will get a surgery date soon, Dash.
  3. hey, how did they give you a surgery date already? do you not have to go though all of the other stuff? Your making me jealous!!! I have been waiting on Naomi to give me a surgery date since BCBS approved me back in March. I get my CPAP today so I can get that 14 days over with. She said after the 14 days, I will get my date. I hate waiting.....
  4. Oh girl I am so happy for you!!! I just have 3 weeks to go and I will get a surgery date. I will be fine then! Keep us up to date on your progress and processes, Dash... Good Luck Jason! Keep us posted!
  5. I'm with you on that one! Plain and simple - lazy. I can honestly say that I can not find any time in my schedule to exercise anymore. I am trying to raise 5 girls, work a full time job, and finish up my college degree ~ so with that being said ~ I am actually doing good to eat durning the day. I feel like that my parents freaked out when I was young and I started gaining weight, so that has some mental issues with me. I think that if I am skinny (ier) that I would be happy (ier). Does that make since? I used to like to cook but now I feel like it's a chore!
  6. Hey DI! I was thinking about going with the Realize band myself. There really isn't a difference except a bigger port and the hooks right? Which one did the dr's recommend to you?
  7. Oh I bet you are getting nervous and excited all in one! Please let us know how you do and what we need to expect!
  8. Mine was about 3 hours long. Tell me ~ I got writers cramp!
  9. Thank you for that! I will have to go to the next one. I get my CPAP on Wednesday so I am getting excited about that. Yea, I know...i'm goofy!
  10. I did find out that I have a hernia (small one) but Dr. Bajaj said it was nothing to worry about. I didn't even think about it causing issues with me swallowing! That is great to know...then I can come off my reflux meds!
  11. Ok ~ I can see that. I have those now! PB's that is. I can't eat certain foods or spices and I can't fully digest a great deal of food at one time (like a big meal) so eating small meals is nothing new to me. Thank you for you imput ~
  12. I have to say that the most hurtful comment was from a guy in high school I wanted to date so bad. He told me that "if I wasn't a fat chick, he would go out with me". SO~ here I am 20 something years later going for the lap band and you know what I'm going to do ~ I'm going to by 20 year high school reunion and I'm going to flaunt my new self in his face!
  13. Hi there! I was wondering if anyone out there had existing stomach issues before getting the lap band? I am kinda worried that what I experience now with my stomach might get worse after surgery. Also, can someone explain to me what a productive burp is? Thank you!!!
  14. Hey girl! I had to have a psych eval because of the meds I was taking. I don't think BCBS makes you have one. I also called St. Vincent's East billing department to find out about up front fees. When I called BCBS this morning they said that since they do not know up front how much the surgery will cost, they can't make me pay a fee or co-pay yet. As soon as I hear from the hospital I will let you all know. :wink2:
  15. I am with you sister!!!! I just want to be able to go into a clothing store and be able to pick out a cute outfit for work ya know? OR better yet, able to wear the cute little lacy bra and panty sets!!! WOO HOO!!!
  16. Hi everybody! First, I want to apologize to everyone for not going Saturday - I had no babysitter! It's hard to find anyone who will watch 5 girls for 2 hours! I did have to have a psych eval because of the medicine I am on. That is what determines if you need one or not. It wasn't that bad ~ a bunch of written tests and memory games~ Anyways.... I have a question ~ when is the next meeting? Do I not have to go to one for Naomi? Hope you all have a great Monday!!!
  17. Boy don't I know it! Med-South called me this morning so I am waiting on the return phone call from Susan. I want these next 2 weeks to fly by...I'm hoping to have a surgery date in early October (if possible)
  18. I am right there with you. She was really rude to me this morning so I thought I would just do my 2 weeks with this C-Pap thing and go from there. I am just ready to start my true "new" life that I have been waiting for. I really can't give you any suggestions on how to handle her but I have heard the more your pester Naomi the quicker she moves.
  19. Well, I tell you what (this is going back to Naomi) she really needs help. No one has told me along the way how to go about getting a surgery date and I called this morning to ask a general question and I got my head bit off! I didn't know that before she will give you a surgery date that she has to have all of the clearance letters from your doctors. They really need to either get her an assistant or something. Does she not realize that she is messing with peoples livelihoods? Ok. I feel better since I got on my soap box.... I guess I just need to be more patient huh?
  20. Hey guys! I tell ya what I will be there at 10:00 in the morning. I just had to find a babysitter for my girls! Geesh!
  21. Ok see...that video just sealed the deal for me! I am more excited now than ever!!
  22. what time does the meeting actually start? My sheet said 10:30 but I can be there before 10:00
  23. Hey ~ that would be great for me and Malinda! That way we won't feel so out of place. I know that sounds funny, but I kinda feel odd going to a support group class knowing that I haven't had the surgery yet. I have to go to at least one class before they will let me go to the nut. class. Still haven't received my surgery date yet. Maybe I will get one after my follow up appointment today with Dr. Kim.
  24. That is wonderful to hear! That gives me hope that maybe if I can get a September/October surgery date that I will loose some before Christmas! That would be wonderful!
  25. I'm going to be there and I'm bringing a co-worker. She just started the 6 month diet/monthly visit today. She is so excited ~ and so am I! NMYDASH - that is really funny you live up by Jasper. My husband's family is from Sumiton/Dora area and we live in Warrior (I-65 N area). It would be really neat if we all could meet outside of support group. I am getting excited. I haven't had my surgery date yet, but I go for my follow up visit tomorrow (sleep study).
