    Gum

Oh Please! No gum? How much more can I give up!!! Seriously, I have always been a gum chewer- it kept me from needing as many cigarettes during the day and saved the day when i quit smoking ( 3 weeks shy of 1 year!) It does take the place of grazing during the day. My dr never said anything about it and I do not swallow it. There is always a pack of trident on my desk and another in the drawer. Am I replacing one vice for another? yah, probably- wanna make somethng about it!!!???

Here is a picture of my new baby....

Congrats and a big Thank You for adopting your baby. Bully dogs are sometimes hard to find homes for and for some reason brindles are the hardest because they seem to look meaner (??). She looks like my adopted baby Jake who is a bit bigger(!) and American Bulldog ( with a bit of pit maybe?) who goes 90 lbs. If more people would look past the bad reps to see the sweetest, most loving dogs around more of them would be adopted. Fighters and bad attitude bully dogs are made, not a natural breed standard. Mine also came with a bit of baggage from being abandoned in Duluth Minn in the winter. I sometimes think there are a few parts they forgot to include at the factory but we think he is the greatest. May you have a long and happy time together!

    Adoption Drama-advice needed

My birth mother gave me up before i was born but the papers did not go through the court for 6 months. I wonder what kind of life i would have had if my birth mother had changed her mind, andI know what hell that would have put my mom through. I am sorry you were involved in this mess but seems like you are the voice of reason. The safety and well being of the baby are the most important thing. Period. When would be the next time ( and there WILL be a next time) that she says she can not handle the baby, and then where would she go? When it came to our turn, we had a problem conceiving and carrying past 3 months. When I finally did have my miracle baby words can't describe my joy. My heart goes out to you and your family - this is not an easy time. Everything said and done tho, the care of the baby is still the most important thing. Always.

    OMG Its a cheese log!

Ok so I am sitting at my desk laughing out loud as only someone who knows what you went through can do! :biggrin1: At least , compared to some of the places some people have that happen, yours was fairly private. My first ( and only so far) was at the kitchen table and my dh sat accross from me the whole time I was sliming and finally brought it up and continued eating! ( but I hadn't eatten all day and I was hungry!!! he said!) Golf balls i get a lot- my fault for wolfing and the hold your breath trick works pretty well. I will learn.....
  5. Before the band I was low carb for years so most fast foods were out. Treats were a ppoppa murphy's thin crust pizza whichI still love but can only eat one piece. We have a Mcdonalds and burger king near us and there are times the smell is so strong it turns my stomach. KFC well, when I was first married, 30 some yrs ago, both of us lost our jobs at the same time and we had a friend who worked at KFC so at days end, we would get the left overs to eat. I still to this day shudder a bit when i drive past one. Do love Subway tho- a half of a 6 in sub and i am happy. Also, I also find Krispy Cremes way too sweet and have no desire to eat one .

Who do I have to thank.....

Who do i have to thank for the link to the Silver Jewelry Club? Come on, Show your head! It has become an addiction! My DD also! we even call each other during the day at work to look at something one of us might want! I was a happy and contented with my jewelry collection till I was directed and forced to look at this link. I mean, how many rings can one person wear at once? I already wear 8 ( I like rings!) and 2 necklaces ( oh, and the one necklace my family makes me wear - the medic alert for blood thinners) 5.99 adds up after awhile!!! So, who ever you are, GEE THANKS!!!!!!! ( but on the other hand, can anyone ever have enough jewelry? Luckily I am a silver person!)

    Sleep Study

My machine is at a setting of 16- yes i have it bad. You will get used to it - it might take a bit of time. All masks are different but try to make sure yours is adjusted correctly and is as comfortable as a mask on your face all night can be. Keeping it clean will keep it from sliding all over at night and if you "break the seal" it will whistle. That sound is guarenteed to wake you and everyone else! The most important thing in the world is to continue to wear it everynight without fail. When i first got mine i cried and swore a lot, but I slept and finally got a good night sleep. And my brain which was running away from home came back. There are still some nights when i fight with the mask but I can not imagine ever sleeping with out it! My dr says that 80% of his patients loose the apnea when they loose the weight. That alone keeps me going!

    What Book Are You Reading?

Morsaille: Son of a witch was better then Wicked. Liir was in someways more interesting and developed more as a person. Both books were a little strange - I have been thinking of getting the Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister- was it worth the read? I loved the daVinci code and also couldn't put it down- almost missed work with my " justone more page" ! And also a big Harry Potter fan. Then I tend to wander into the sci fi / fantasy area a lot.

    What Book Are You Reading?

Just finished Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire after finishing Wicked- the life and times if the wicked witch of the west. Sure gives a different perspective on the Wizard of Oz!!!:nervous

    Sad Nsv

My pile of clothes is getting bigger in the closet and as yet i think i still don't believe fully that i will never (say it loud, NEVER!!!:clap2: ) wear them again. I did give a bunch away before- remember when youtake a tax deduction just how much more plus size clothes cost! I am wearing a pr of capris I bought off the rack from Walmart- cheapest pants i have bought for years and years! My first pants buy from a normo store! Hated to buy a size bigger then my other jeans but seeing as womens clothes makers can't get together and standardize sizing, we do what we have to. Romans 26 falling off, Walmart 28 fits perfect, and a walmart 26 is a couple weeks away to fitting.:biggrin1: Now, if enough of us band together and create a stink do you think we can get women's sizes standardized? Naw, dreaming again.........

    Sleep Study

I have had sleep apnea for almost 8 yrs- back wehen the testing was done in your home. They came and showed you how to hook yourself up and came back in the morning to get the machine with the results. When my dr say the results he could only slap his head! I had had it for awhile - I remember falling asleep on the freeway on the way to work - luckily at 5 in the am without much traffic- and being able to sit at a computer sleeping with my eyes open- my friend thought i was dead!! I was in pretty bad shape before I got tested- I would not be without my machine. It has saved my life. They also found thyroid problems at the same time so i got the double wammie and gained a whole lot of weight at one time.

I "wolf" and I'm trying to stop!

I just had my 3 rd fill and before this had no restriction. I tried to train myself to eat slowly and chew chew chew but apparantly didn't set the habit. Since this last fill I have had a bit of restriction but a lot of the golf balls and last night my first bad PB attack and it was not really any fun at all! My stomach is a bit sore this morning and I am sticking to liquids for the day. If there could possibly be a good side to this I think the chicken might have been bad- my DH has had the runs since dinner and swears he will never eat BQ chicken again! I didn't get it down so might have saved me some misery! I plan on stopping at the store today and pick up the baby silverware- That and the 4x4 upside the head I got last night may have taught me something! ( I hope!!)

    Good doggie.....

I found i have the "good dog" syndrome. :help: I seem to work on the reward system. Used to be when i was finished with a task, like cleaning the kitchen or weeding the garden or even small things like starting the laundry, I would reward myself with a sit down on the porch with a cigarette. Now that I don't smoke I noticed when I came in from the yard yesterday, I reached for a treat right away. ( good doggie!!!:heh: ) Could be worse, my current treat of choice is chedder rice cakes, but had to stop when I remembered I had just had a fill and was on liquids till tomorrow. I then thought that i do this a lot which lead to the diagnosis of Good Doggie Syndrome. Combined with OAM ( old age memory!) and CRS syndrome ( can't remember sh***) I have to really try hard to remember to stop this. I am afraid there is no cure - I know there is no cure for OAM and CRS but anyone know a cure for Good Doggie Syndrome?

    Over 50 lap bandsters

I had just turned 53 when I had the surgery. At that time i was feeling about 63. i am now down about 50 lbs and feeling younger every day. I can feel every pound coming off my knees and I am able again to crawl around in my garden. My only concern is when I loose the rest of my 120 or so lbs, I won't have the elasticity in the skin of a younger person and have more hanging skin. I keep well oiled and use a skin tightening lotion but I do not expect miracles!!

Thank You! Learn something new everyday- never thought of that. Will stick to cedar
  19. LOL- I don't know why I think all scales should be the same when we can't even standardize womens clothing sizes but i guess i am a dreamer. My scale has not moved for 2 weeks- I was about to throw it out the window and run over it with the truck- my eatting has not changed that much. Went to the dr and weighed in clothes 291.5 when it was 293 at home nekkid. Huh??? Went and bought a new scale as i was thinking of really creative ways of "killing" my old scale that i know hates me..... New and fancy scale following all the set up instructions weighs me at 295 - now i am even more upset- i spent money to buy something that hates me even more then my old scale and it doesn't even know me as well..... New and fancy scale takes an instant shine to my husband- weighs him 4 lbs less then the old one! again i say, huh??? I have polished up my old scale, talked nicely to it, moved it out of the corner into the sunshine and maybe we can reconnect and create a better relationship. Husband is keeping new scale! oh, I also think another fill might be needed which is set for may 12. I know i have been walking more and gardening and doing all the spring outside chores so have been getting much more excersise so maybe it is muscle but it is still a bit depressing. Clothes seem to be getting looser still...

    So - what's your status?

31 years and going strong! When our daughter moved out about 6 yrs ago I was depressed and asked what are we going to do now? His answer was I guess we will have to fall in love all over again and that we have. I can't believe how lucky we were to have found each other.

    I can't stop shopping!

I can't wait till I can shop at a "regular" store. With my budget, Wal-Mart would be a plus! I am tired of on line shopping! I did buy a couple pairs of jeans- one short and one long - in a size i haven't ever seen at Walmart a couple weeks back. They sit on my shelf and every once in awhile i try to get them on. The pile of clothes in my closet that are too big keeps growing and what is in the closet left to wear is less and less. I was trying to not shop for awhile till I drop more but I may have to or not have any clothes to go to work in! I don't mind wearing shirts that are too big but there is a limit to that too! Also my favorite jeans started to slide off by themselves when I put my car keys in the pocket! Bye bye jeans! Heck of a problem to have !!!! :Banane04:

    Airplane seat bellt's size?

at one tme I had to fly a lot- my mother was sick and I went back and forth a few times before she died and I also had to fly for training a lot for work. I really did not want to deal with the embarrasment- it was hard enough to fly without my skinny husband loaning me part of his seat- so I found a place and bought an extension. It was a few yrs ago and I paid about $30 for it but I never had to ask The tag on the belt says am-safe phoenix az ph 602-850-2850 Can't say if they are still in business or sell to the public but it is worth a try. One of the other things I will not miss when the weight is gone!

    February 2006 bandsters unite!!

I guess what makes me so mad is people who do not need this surgery think it is so easy afterword. Get the surgery, blink and all the weight is gone. The have no concept of how hard it really is. The surgery is a tool to help with the weight loss and only works if you work at it. The other night my husband saw my dinner and asked ( again ) if that was 4 oz on my plate and i almost threw it at him. He is so supportive of me doing this that I will give him a break - besides i really wanted to eat that food not throw it! We did talk about how hard i am trying and not to question me in that tone again! So, my hat's off to all of us who are doing something for ourselves and even if there is a momentary slip or two along the way, we should all be proud that we are trying... to hell with the rest of them!
  24. saying goodbye to: knees that make it extremely painful to get up off of any chair and to walk... Romans for clothes... and my # 1 goodbye- hopefully in a year or so, saying good bye To SLEEP APNEA and dragging my ball and chain machine with me everywhere I go!:clap2:
