  1. Hi I was banded on 20th Dec at the Alexandra with Dr Favretti - the man is fantastic. He mended a hernia while I was in surgery! The site of the stitches are beautiful and the care was brilliant. I would recommend Healthier weight as they offer a good after care package and follow up.

I was also banded by Dr Favertti August 2007 and I am so thrilled with my results, I have now lost over 10stone and that took me a year. I have nothing but praise for the Healthier weight the staff are helpful and supportive. I am now 9st 7lbs and so happy that I have a new life and will be moving in with my partner in 2 weeks life is good for me and the weight loss gave me the chance to go out and find happiness again.

  2. Hello to everyone

I thought I would share my journey with you about walking. I was banded August 2007 and weighed 19st 8lbs and in the last 14 months have lost 10st in weight and mostly because I have walked it off as well as eating less of couse lol.

I used my pedometer every day in the house as well and every week increased my walking and now have to walk 7 miles a day which is 16.000 steps to keep my weight off.

The pedometer was my inspiration, I kept a walking diary and every day tried to increase it by 100 steps and set myself daily targets I dont know if this will help anyone but for me it has kept me loosing weight and taken my mind of all that eating worry.

I think being banded is so hard when you have eating disorders and for me now I have reached my target weight I am scared if I dont keep walking I will focus on the food again .... so for us all I think we have and are doing really well.

    take care Dianne :smile2::thumbup:

  3. I am sorry you have had all this worry. It is my biggest fear that I would ever have to have the band removed. I have binge eating disorder and without the band I would be awful and even now sometimes try to abuse it now I have reached my target weight.

My partner told me last night that I had lost enough then joked about are you sure the scales are right about your weight you seem heavier than tha so that has upset me and I am now trying to loose even more now.

I wish you well and am thinking of you at this difficult time.

    take care Dianne:thumbdown:

  4. My name is Dianne I am from Northampton in the Uk and dont have many friends here that are banded.

I celebrated my first year on monday 25th August and was thrilled to think that I had worked so hard to achieve the weight loss I had only ever dreamed off in the past.

I am also on msn and yahoo messenger and wondered if you ladies would like to ever chat on there?

I have pictures on the forum and wondered if you would like to look and see and tell me what you think of them.

It is great to meet new people on the internet and would like to maybe start a group up in the Uk for us to meet maybe once a month for a chat and catch up.... what do you think.

May I ask were abouts in the Uk you are all from?

hope to hear from you soon take care Dianne:tt2:

  6. Hello I thought I would let you know what has happend to me and my port?

I had my band done August 2007 and all has been good but as I have lost weight the port has started to hurt, I have been to see the consultant and he tole me that as I have lost so much weight the muscle they have sewn it to may have got weak and the port has now fallen forward.

I am waiting for some plastic surgery and bob job and they have saud what they will do is resite it when they do that. Other than that as i still have 14lbs to loose it will only get worse.

I started my weight loss without this information and as I paid for my band to be done after 12 months the after care has to be paid for so unless I have the boob job done which I will have to pay for I wont get the port resited until I have lost the rest of my weight.

Has anyone else had this problem with a large weight loss.:tt2:

  7. Hi all..I have been attempting lap band surgery for two years. I just changed insurance almost a year ago that would allow lap band or gastric bypass. Of course then it has taken me another 6mos to get my paperwork in order. Now to lose the 10 lbs to get in line for surgery. I am having a hard time. I am doing Jazzercise 3-4 timea a week but I guess I am still eating too much because I am not losing much.

I am new on here but thought even though I have had the band would say I hope all goes well for you and you manage to loose the weight you need to have the op.

  8. Hello to everyone

My name is Dianne and I have joined tonight the forum, I had my band done August 2007 and have found the journey hard and rewarding.

    :seeya:

I have now lost over 8 stone in 11 months with the band and am nearing my target weight. Since having the band fitted I have found a new man and I am getting married in Janaury 2009.

I am disabled with chronic asthma and work as volunteer with disabled adults making cards and craft work. I really feel so lucky to be working with adults and children and making people feel like that can do things they have never tried. I also make cards and sell them for charity, I am trying to raise £1000 this year for hte charity which is Tubersous Sclerosis.

I would like to make new friends and chat.

Thank you for lettting me join and look forward to hearing from people.
