I came to this thread late, but my sleeve was on the 4th too! How have you been doing since then?

Hi, I’ve been approving every day. Finally have a little more energy and am not near as sore or bloated anymore. The struggle now is going to the bathroom. It’s been a few days so I went and got some suppositories today. I’ve heard it’s really bad if I let it go too long. How about you? How’s your recovery going?

    Hi Donna.
    Congratulations on your surgery.

Sounds like we’re experiencing really similar things with the struggle for fluids and Protein. I’m hoping it will get easier and just doing what I can for now.

it’s really weird as I had such a sweet tooth before the surgery but now I’m after savoury.

how are you doing with your Vitamins. Mine are vile - not sure I’ll be able to stomach them long term.

Hi Charlie. Thank you, congratulations on yours as well. Yes, it is very strange for me to struggle eating (drinking) enough, since my struggles have always been the opposite, to try to eat less! I’ve been watching lots of YouTube videos to be reassured that this is normal and that eventually it will get easier. I haven’t started my Vitamins yet. I’ve been instructed to wait until the 18th which will be a few days before I start the puréed stage. That could be a reason why I’m feeling so week, so I’m actually looking forward to starting them. I’ve been sipping on a Protein Shake all morning, but am getting antsy and am wanting to get out in the sun and do some walking. I think that’s probably a good sign. How have you been with getting your walking in?

Hi all. I had my sleeve surgery on 4th April.
interested to hear how everyone’s recovery is going?

Hello. I had my sleeve surgery on the 4th as well. Every day is a little better, but it is not easy. I’ve been struggling with getting enough fluids and Protein in. I’ve been really bloated so can only have a few sips at a time. Also I’m feeling really weak, but every day I feel a little stronger and every day I can take in a little bit more. Never thought it would be possible to get by on 200-300 calories a day, wow, but that’s all my body wants right now. How are you doing?

Wow! Excellent job! Kudos to you! I bought the Gatorade zero w Protein. I think they have 10gms each so I will definitely drink a lot of those when it’s my time next week. What I’m really nervous about it I will still have to shop and cook for my kids so that will be rough. I sat them down and explained my diet and I may be cranky, etc and they understand but cooking meals when I can’t eat will be a challenge.

I wish you the best. You will really need to be strong, but I know you can do it. I live alone so its easy for me to just have in the house only what I need. Its good that you communicated with them what's going on so they can help support you. Just make sure you have plenty on hand of what you can have so you aren't dipping into their food while you prepare it. Best of luck, you can do it!

I’m cranky just thinking about it I start the diet next week. I really don’t know what else to say besides just keep your eye on the prize! And I think feeling cranky is quite normal

I'm on day 11 of my 2 week liquid diet. The first week was the absolute worst. After the second week or so, it started to get easier. I think my body started to get accustomed to having less calories. The trick for me has been to have something to eat (drink) regularly throughout the day, like every hour or two. When it gets really hard I've been relying on the sugar free ice pops. They give me a little bit of sweet and I really enjoy them. In the evenings I've been making broth out of half a cube of bullion (only half since there is so much salt in those) A huge helper has been the Gatorade Zero. That is enjoyable and does a good job of making me feel full. I haven't cheated because I don't want to ruin the progress I've made so far. It would probably be like starting all over. I've lost 12 pounds since I started so far and I still have another 3-4 days. My surgery is on Monday. Almost there now. You can do it, stay strong and when you are feeling hungry, don't ignore it. Have the next item you are allowed for the day.

Wow 🎉 congrats that’s amazing! Have you found it hard to stick to?

Thanks! The first week yes, it was a struggle. This week though my body seems to have accustomed itself to less food. It’s not near as hard. My emotions, however, that’s another story. Not being able to use my eating disorder as a way to avoid my feelings has been rough.

My liquid diet is 3 shakes a day (they suggested the Fairlife shakes I got mine at BJ’s) they should have low carbs and sugar with some fiber. Premier is another popular one or Atkins. We can have three drinks a day of either - one egg, sugar free pudding or Jello (1/2 cup), one light greek yogurt or 1/2 cup plain ricotta or cottage cheese. We can have unlimited sugar and caffeine free beverages, ice pops and plain broth

That sounds very similar to mine. I’m on day 9 and am already down 11 pounds.

Omg! I’m so glad that I found this. I’m having my surgery on April 7th!! Gastric sleeve. I’m very nervous but excited at the same time.

I read that some of you have to do a liquid diet 2 weeks prior surgery. That’s wild. Mine is 2 days, thank God!!

    How are you feeling guys?

Congrats! You are very lucky to only have to do it for 2 days. My surgery is on April 4th and my liquid diet starts tomorrow March 21st. Gonna go to the store today and pick up the rest of what I’ll need so I don’t have to go shopping the whole 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a chewable/ melt away Vitamin that isn't incredibly vomit inducing? Can't swallow a pill until 30 days after surgery and I'm nervous. My first round with a chewable was not good 🤢

I have been using Barimelt and they are really good, but turns out you have to take more of them to get the recommended dosage which can get pretty expensive. I’ve ordered some from Unjary. I’ve heard they are pretty good so we’ll see.

  10. I spent a lot of time today looking for the Vitamins I will be taking after the surgery. I was reading the packet I got from my surgeon and there was a lot of details I needed to go over to make those decisions. I had started a Vitamin regimen based on some YouTube videos I watched, but after getting into the nitty gritty of it I realized I was going to need much higher dosages than what was recommended. It took me some time to balance out what I needed for the amount of money it will cost me every month. As I was doing this it made me feel much better about the care I am going to give myself after the surgery which greatly reduced any anxieties I was having. I’ve got about 3 weeks to go (My surgery is April 4th) and I’m planning on concentrating on preparing for my post-op needs.

    Thank you hun.

My LRD is 800 calories I deffo wouldn't be doing it early if it was liquid only. what date is your op x

My date is Monday, April 4th. 800 calories is so little, even if it’s not full liquid. The plan they gave me isn’t calorie specific, but I believe it ends up coming out to somewhere between 800-1000 calories. We got this, just around the corner now.

Had my call with the pre op nurse today! 22 days and counting.

She gave me information about what will happen at my f2f pre op assessment and some more information about what happens on the day. I'll be told 24-48hrs before what time to be at the hospital for.

My LRD starts on the 18th but im going to start it early.. too late to start it today so will be starting it tomorrow.

The nerves have kicked in and I'm now really nervous - not so much about the operation itself but the first few days post op.... I kind of feel like I did when I was pregnant with my first. I know its going to hurt... but how much and just what that pain will be like will only be known once I'm experiencing it. xx

Good luck, you can do this! My liquid diet starts on the 21st. I’ve been trying to ease my way into it. Making small changes and reducing my calorie intake each week before it starts. That way it’s not such a shock to my system. I wouldn’t want to do the actual diet for more than 2 weeks though. That is going to be so hard in itself. Looking forward to hearing how you do. My surgery is just a few days after yours.

    The weeks are flying by!

Sorry I have been so quiet... Uni is keeping me busy!... My surgery date is now 2nd April. The closer the date gets the more excited/nervous I get.

They are doing surgery on a Saturday? Wow, that’s good. Best of luck to you. Mine is just a couple of days later on the 4th.

  14. I find online dating is full of scammers pretending to be somebody that they’re not. I just don’t feel safe doing it anymore. My plans once I get my surgery and get to the point where I can be active again is to start going to meetups like hiking and biking. That’s a great way to meet people in general and then who knows.

There is a zoom group with MyLevel10Life. They are just switching from Facebook to some other platform for the group itself, but I find it really helpful! It meets twice a week.

Awesome! I’ve been waiting to join her group until I was a little closer to surgery since it is a little costly. But I didn’t realize they were doing zoom meetings. I will go ahead and join up. Thanks so much!

  16. I am 51 and my parents are also very much against my choice to get the surgery. I’ve been overweight for 30 years, but they just don’t understand the affect it has had on me, on my life. I’ve basically had to tell them that I’m going to try everything I can with getting help, dietitian, therapy, support groups and then hopefully I won’t even need surgery. I know that’s not true and I am committed to getting the surgery, but in order to alleviate their worry and to not continuously get negative feedback, I’m just not sharing my journey with them. They can here about it after the fact.

  17. Wow! This is absolutely incredible and gives me so much hope. When I read your words, I could picture that being my future self since so much of what you said rings true for me now, what I want to do, and how I want to be. Congratulations and great work on the hard work that you have accomplished. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
