  1. Time for my monthly measurements and weigh in... Surgery April 18th. I weigh and measure myself on the 4th of every month. As you can see this past month has been very minor improvements. I was in a stall for a couple weeks and i think i am breaking the stall. 3 month follow up was last week. Went over blood work and my iron was just 1 point below normal. Otherwise all other vitamin test were in the green. I am hoping next weigh in i am at least in the 230's to 220's at least.
  2. i dont smoke tobacco but my paperwork for my surgery said for those that were having issues with quitting for surgery to let the surgeon know and that they would prescribe something. Might be worth asking.
  3. LMAO that sucked. Reminds me of my discover card. When i first got it it was interest free for like 18 months.
  4. Typically you need to pay that before hand when you book the procedure. But some places will do the procedure then submit to your insurance for payment and once they get their payment they would bill you for the remainder which would be due in full unless you made payment arrangements with the hospital. I would call your insurance and hospital to get a legit 100% firm answer on it. I was self pay and to book my surgery i had to pay almost everything up front.
  5. i keep hearing about this method of pre op diet typically from people in the UK. It works i guess. For most here in the USA we do protein drinks several times a day for a certain amount of weeks (I did two weeks)
  6. LMAO. Thats funny. I always assume most in here are females. Rarely do i encounter a male in here lol.
  7. So i had my 3 month blood test for vitamins and such. I got the results early this morning and everything is in the green. Only small issue is my iron saturation is just 1 point below normal. But iron total levels are good. Other than that every other vitamin, protein, calcium ect... are good. I thought this blood test would have had my cholesterol checked as well because it was high before surgery but i guess not. I will go ahead and order my own cholesterol test here next week to see how it is.
  8. Yes my reflux was so bad the first couple weeks. It would be extremely painful if i laid down. my chest would be on fire.
  9. So i am on a Cpap machine since last summer. I dont have another appointment with that type of doctor for a while. But so far after surgery i have not really needed it. Before i really needed it to sleep but for the last month or so i been doing fine without it. Sleeping well. Not snoring. so hopefully i can get another sleep study done and see if i actually still need it. But i still use it but some days i forget to use it and have no issues that i know of
  10. It took almost a month before i could actually lay in my bed. I slept in a recliner. a Cane was also very helpful in getting up out of the recliner but having someone to help you up will be best because it can be very difficult for a while. i am now about 3 and a half months post op and have no issues sleeping in any position.
  11. no... you do your pre op diet. and then your hospital paperwork should tell you to avoid eating after midnight and only liquids before surgery. Your stomach is cleared way before you go into surgery. All that stuff has moved onto your colon.
  12. curious. Why do a weight loss surgery with such a low BMI? 25 is considered basically normal or just slightly overweight. What is your current weight and height? or is there another reason for wanting this surgery?
  13. 4 days post op and you want to move onto soft foods? most at least wait 2 weeks minimum for solids. I did liquids only for 2 weeks post op and after that i was cleared to try some soft foods like scrambled eggs. Which i had and had no issues. Tho i could only eat maybe half an egg. I ended up just buying quail eggs since they are much smaller.
  14. i would simply cut those people out of my life... What is the point of being around them if thats how they are? Stop talking to them, stop seeing them and move on with bettering your life.
  15. This section is where you would probably find your information https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/486-mexico-self-pay-weight-loss-surgery/
  16. There is an entire section on this forum on this subject. Most that pay out of pocket go to Mexico... I am out of pocket as well but i did mine in Florida which cost me $19-20K
  17. A cane was very helpful once i got home. Getting up is extremely difficult at first. Also a recliner.
  18. Looks great. One other pizza crust i have seen on youtube is the chicken crust. Basically they take canned chicken, Mash it and form it into the pizza shape and then add the sauce, cheese, toppings. Been wanting to try that.
  19. I did not even know they still did the balloon. But with any surgery it takes time to heal. I was no where near the 64oz after my gastric sleeve It took me several weeks to get enough water in. even now 3+ months post op but now its more of having to remember to drink water,. If you keep having issues i would call your surgeons office to get advise.
  20. I was given a medication called Ursodiol 300mg twice a day for 1 year and it dissolves gall stones. I would not want mine removed if it did not need to be. So far 3 months post op i am doing fine without issue. The medication is a bit on the pricey side. With insurance i pay around $130 for 180 pills. without insurance its like $750
  21. eating healthy can bring your cholesterol levels down with time. My cholesterol levels were very high before surgery. I actually have a blood test tomorrow morning to recheck it after 3 months of surgery.
  22. So this question really depends if you have insurance. Typically with insurance most have to do like 6 months of supervised weight loss attempts and such. I had no insurance.. So i saw my surgeon for the first time on December 14th. This is where he ordered all the testing like EKG, Chest Xray, Bloodwork, psychological exam. I did the testing pretty quickly. The psychological exam took 2-3 months to book. There were no openings before that so that was on March 1st. One of my test came back abnormal which was the EKG. So i had to visit my cardiologist to get clearance for surgery. This is when they ordered a nuclear stress test. after that i was cleared for surgery. Once everything came back normal my surgery was scheduled for 3 weeks later. So if it wasnt for that stupid psyc exam i could have had the surgery months ago.
  23. They did not check my actual stomach. The testing i had to get done were EKG, Blood work, Chest X-ray, Psychological exam and that was it. My EKG did come back abnormal so i was required to get a Nuclear Stress Test done.
