    Day 7 concerns

yup stay off the scale... you will stop loosing weight for a bit throughout the journey. They are called stalls. typically at your 3rd week is where you hit your first one where you probably wont loose any weight for a couple weeks. Just stick to the program and it will come off

    Marketplace insurance

It depends on the state you live in... There are many states where bariatric surgery is specifically excluded. regardless of what plan or company you go with on the marketplace. Then there are states where they do cover it. Your profile does not have any info so idk what state you are in.

    Day of Surgery Concerns

when i got the hospital i go to the surgery prep room where you will be in your own little area with curtains blocking the view (or maybe a private room idk how your hospital does it) and there i had to take off all my clothing including underwear. I then had to use some special wipes to wipe down my whole body, Then I was told to put on a hospital gown which ties off in the back. with that you will wear all the way thru surgery. They will take it off you in the OR when you are put to sleep and redress you. Just remember. You probably will never see most of the hospital staff ever again except for your surgeon and maybe his assistant. and these hospital people see naked people all day long so its nothing to worry about. as for the other issue i wont comment on that since i am a dude lol Good luck with your surgery. It will be over before you know it.

    Eating carbs

try to keep carbs to a minimum... one slice of regular bread has a ton of carbs in it as well as rice... Remember we are suppose to be making better choices on our diets especially during the 1st year to get the most weightloss possible. There are low carb breads out there. This is the one i get. I was able to eat breads/carbs around month 2-3 ish but i kept it to a minimum. But yea if you are not doing well yet with bread. Then give it some more time to heal. if you want try taking a tiny bite, waiting say 5-10 minutes and taking another small bite and see how you do.

    Severe anemia

Wow those iron levels are very very low. Mine were slightly low 3 months ago and i take an extra iron supplement and it went back to normal. have you had a complete blood count done to see how your red blood cells are doing? Ive read that a blood transfusion can help too. Is it possible for you to see a hematologists and see if they can figure out what they can do for you?

    Numbness everywhere

yes it cleared up after a few weeks. and the main issue was my legs yes. It was not all over

    Numbness everywhere

Since your profile is not filled out i dont know when you had your surgery... So please try to fill it out. It helps a ton when asking questions. As for the leg issues. I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting a lab order to get a ultrasound of your veins in your legs. I went to the ER about a month after surgery due to swelling, numbness. thinking it could be a deep vein thrombosis... But they checked me out and i was clear. They said for me it was just simply my body going thru the changes of surgery.

    What insurance is fastest ?

Have you tried actually calling these insurance companies to ask what their process is for weight loss surgery? As for paramount advantage "selling out" Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield acquired Paramount Medicaid contracts.

    Regretting the surgery

every single person goes thru this... Remember its a major surgery. Its going to take time to heal and get back to normal... The first week is the roughest. but you will get thru it.

    Upper GI tomorrow

interesting. My hospital bans all ubers, lyfts ect... if you are having surgery. It has to be friend, family or a medical transport company. I never had to do the barium swallow xrays. Just regular ol xrays. But yes good luck! hopefully you get thru it quick.
  11. so far 7 months post op only thing that i loved before and hate now is powerade lol. use to drink that stuff all the time and now its disgusting.

    Shirt size

Before surgery i was at a 4XL Shirt. finding 4XL was nearly impossible as most big box stores only have up to 3XL if that. I was having to stretch out the 3XL shirts. Today i decided to buy some new shirts. XL. and sure enough they fit perfect. Excited because now i can fully shop at almost any store. Especially the branded stores at the mall. As for pants I was at a 54 or 56" i dont remember. and i am at a 38 pants size now Still a bit high on the pants size. many of the stores i use to love carry up to 36. Still some work to do to get down in weight more.

    Mango juice?

update your profile to show some info... Like weight, height, surgery type you had or are going to have and so on... because the types of food may differ depending on the surgery you get... Like sleeve can pretty much eat anything once you fully recover. Bypass is a bit different because of dumping syndrome.
  14. liveaboard15

    pre op bowel prep

are you having a bypass done? For my sleeve i didnt need to do that. But i see it being needed for bypass. Good luck. But yea that stuff is at every store. Miralax as someone else suggested is what many use for colonoscopy.
  15. liveaboard15

    Eating and drinking

your new stomach is not big enough to cope with this any more and if you do eat and drink together, you may vomit. Can also lead to dumping syndrome

    Exercise

I bought a bicycle and go riding. Most i have done in 1 trip was 24 miles. Its fun.
  17. Most of you know i weigh myself and take measurements on the 4th of every month... Surgery Date 04/18/2022
  18. I typically only weigh myself once a month. I may hop on the scale in the middle of the month if i think something is not right. but other than that i try my hardest to stay off the scale.
  19. So just came back from my surgeons office for the 6 month follow up. Vitamins all looked great. My iron has gone back up to normal levels. But unfortunately 1 blood test did not and actually is higher than when i personally had it tested a week before which is something called Bilirubin. So they are ordering 1st an ultrasound to see if there are any stones or blockage in the gallbladder. After that if it shows nothing then they are going to do a HIDA scan to check function. Shall see how it goes. but they were impressed with the weight loss in 6 months. They did tell me to eat more lol
  20. nope. Have taken Nyquil several times since surgery. No issues with me.
  21. liveaboard15

    Vitamin's I should take

your surgeon should have told you exactly what is required. Since you are only 7 weeks post op. you probably have not had your 3 month blood work done which they test for vitamin deficiency. With that then they can adjust and let you know if you need to take anything extra. at 6 months you should have another blood work done to keep on checking and adjusting if needed.

    Antibiotics after VSG?

Your doctor, primary care or urgent care tho would be the ones to give you a good yes or no but i was never told to avoid antibiotics. Its pain killers typically like motrin (NSAIDS) are things we should be avoiding more so for gastric bypass people.
  23. liveaboard15

    Reflux 2 days post op

I was also prescribed a PPI proton pump inhibitor for 30 days after surgery. It was called pantoprazole. I would ask your surgeon about it. It helps slow down the production of acid. The antacids neutralize the acid already there.
  24. Yup. These are the ones i get. They heat up in the microwave so its a nice quick protein source to get you full quick

What do you eat at the movies?

So i went to the movies last week to see black adam. i grabbed a fountain drink because they had sugar free juices and as for the snack i grabbed some cookie dough bites. They had the lowest carbs/surgar out of all of them. i poured me out about a serving and a half and i slowely ate them throughout the movie tho it only lasted like 30 minutes lol.
