    Post op necessities

It takes a few weeks of continuous use to get addicted to pain killers. Most will only give you enough for 2-3 days. if you can do without, perfect. but everyone handles pain differently. I handle it poorly and i keep pain killers stocked up just incase. I rarely use them but its nice to know they are there if i need it.

    Gas pains

everything i read and videos i watched says the best thing to do about the gas is to walk walk and walk as much as possible to get it out

    Utter regret

that sucks you feel that way. This seems to be your first post. How about some background. Why did you decide on gastric sleeve? what seems to be the issue? First few weeks are the toughest after a major surgery and it takes time to heal so keep at it and it will get better. Did you end up traveling to have the surgery? did it not go well?

Pre Op Liquid Diet starts tomorrow

correct. Premier protein, fairlife and as for mixing my own they said to use isopure Isolate protein powder that the isolate absorbs better. Its currently 12:30pm and i am starving lol and this is only day 1 ugh... I need a punching bag to get thru these two weeks lol

Pre Op Liquid Diet starts tomorrow

So the funny part is we were told specifically not to avoid carbs. That we should not use premier protein or fairlife because those have almost no carbs. After surgery then to avoid sugar and carbs. This picture was part of the pre op class we had to take.

Pre Op Liquid Diet starts tomorrow

No they have sugar and the shakes the bariatric center provided also have sugar. They said sugar is fine on the pre op liquid diet. Just not more than the shakes have.

I havent had surgery yet but one thing i do have in my shopping cart that i am going to buy here this week are those leg massagers that fill with air and massage your legs to prevent blood clots. They put them on you while in the hospital. Amazon has several choices. Gonna wear those for the first couple weeks after surgery while i am sitting or laying down.

    Anyone have an Abcess drain?

What surgery did you get? if you can update your sidebar with all your information. It helps when answering questions. you can do this in your profile section and click on surgery and you can add all the information. Good luck to you on that. I have surgery in 2 weeks.

    Surgery

Glad to hear. and that is what i have heard is the gas pains are the worst of it.
  14. after googling and translating it seems to be a probiotic with digestive enzymes. I was not able to find that exact picture for sale in the USA but on Amazon it had this one which seems to be the exact same thing just a bottle instead of a package. https://www.amazon.com/Kyo-Dophilus-Probiotic-Enzymes-Capsules-Packaging/dp/B0015YK0PK
  15. basically its a probiotic?

Secondary insurance covered; primary - no

I remember this same topic you posted a week ago. I replied on it. But yea its not just your employer. Its all of Florida blue and any medical plan from the healthcare.gov website. Many states they dont have to cover it so they dont. Which really sucks. I have thought about moving to a state that does cover it but that would be more trouble than its worth in my opinion lol But yea either start saving, or you can try getting a loan maybe? My hospital suggested a company called Prosper but getting a loan of over 20 grand sucks without collateral.
  17. Didnt you ask this before. I saw that post didnt get any responses either. probably not many or any that follow your specific religion. May i suggest finding a Jewish group on facebook and asking if anyone got bariatric surgery if no one answers here. I am sure there are groups on there with thousands of people and hopefully someone else has gotten bariatric surgery.

    Laparoscopic vs. Robotic surgery?

My reasoning on not using robotic is because the surgeon is not right there, They are not scrubbed in and (Correct me if i am wrong) if something does go wrong and he needs to do something beyond the capabilities of the robot they would need to get scrubbed in which takes time. Also and correct me if i am wrong, Robotic surgery would probably cost a lot more and with bariatric surgery many of us including myself are self pay.

Want to be a part of this site

you did not read her post correctly... Her post says "All of the above. I read all of your posts. But sometimes I don’t have any/or I can’t remember what it was like 4 months out of surgery so I don’t say anything" She says she cant remember what it was like 4 months out of surgery... As in her surgery...

    Surgery

Nice. Mine will be at 9:30am and i have to be at the hospital at 6:30am.
  21. liveaboard15

    liquid diet :( lol

nICE. If i weighed just 220 i wouldnt be getting the surgery. i was happy at 220ish which was like 7 years ago lol
  22. liveaboard15

    liquid diet :( lol

So i had my pre op nutrition class today and they specially said no premier or fairlife. This is what was in the powerpoint they did. What if I want to use a shake not listed, such as Premier, Fairlife, or Atkins? Most of these have less than 5 carbohydrate grams per serving. Therefore, we do not recommend using them for your pre-op diet program. You may be HUNGRY and/or experience the “keto flu” caused by dropping your carbohydrate intake too quickly. The “keto flu” causes unpleasant side effects such as nausea, lightheadedness, shakiness, sweatiness, irritability, headache and stomach upset

    liquid diet :( lol

They technically said no coffee for the first couple weeks lol. But as long as i am getting my water in and not using sugar or creamers with sugar its ok. I just need a little bit in the mornings
  24. liveaboard15

    liquid diet :( lol

Yea the shakes are what the bariatric office provides but i was free to buy any other shakes i want. I do have a case of fairlife and i am going to get premier protein here in the next couple days as i do like those. Nutritionist said to use premier protein or any other protein shake i like as "Creamer" in coffee lol
  25. Everyone is different... Everyone. Revision is something later later on for many end up with issues for example severe heart burn that do the sleeve. Just keep working at it... The weight will come off if you stick to the plan. you may loose more than others or less. your surgery was not that long ago so you still have a decent way to go.
