Messing up my pre-op diet 😩

Dont order anything. Stick to your diet... Its just 2 weeks. I am right there with you. Today is day 5 for me for my preop diet for 2 weeks. Its been horrible but manageable. I stick to 4 protein shakes a day and in the afternoon i have a 4oz piece of sockeye salmon with 3oz of veggies. That little meal helps a ton and its super healthy. Trust me i have been tempted hard to go to chick fil a and order a few chicken sandwiches lol. But surgery is right around the corner. Cant fail. especially me having paid $18K two weeks ago for this surgery. Worst thing that happens is they get you to the operating table, Open you up and see your liver is still huge and close you right back up. the whole purpose of this diet is to shrink that liver.

    Price of diet?

Yes!!!! Before on the daily i would buy my breakfast, lunch, dinner averaging about $40 a day eating out and i did this every single day i rarely ever ate at home. So looking forward to not spending so much money on food anymore.
  3. Today marks day 4 of the pre op liquid diet. Its been rough at times but not as bad as i thought. One thing i have learned is the shakes that you have to mix yourself seriously suck. Prefer the ready to drink shakes so i bought those instead. Which have been the Carnation breakfast ones, Boost glucose control (which are delicious), and fairlife which i drink just 1 of those a day. My paperwork says if i do get too hungry that i can have 4 oz of lean meats like chicken or fish. So i have been having Sockeye Salmon once a day (which i eat in place of a shake) One big thing is to keep busy. sitting around all you think about is the hunger. spending lots of time out on the water to keep busy and away from food lol. 9 days to go... Price of diet?

Fairlife, Premier protein, Boost, ensure ect... there are tons. They are not that expensive. you can get ready to drink or get the powder and make your own. But yes taste buds can change so i wouldnt get a bunch. Just enough for the pre op diet and a little after then you can buy what you like after surgery.
  5. Got a call this morning to Schedule my surgery. It is set for April 18th. Yesterday when i was paying for the surgery the hospital facility fee is the most expensive part at just over $11K and when i went to pay it the hospital was like Its only $8K and i was like nooo its suppose to be 11K i just discussed this but she only made me pay the $8K but sure enough 10 minutes later i get a call and she made a mistake and i had to pay the other 2K lol I was like damnnnnn almost saved a little haha.
  6. You have nothing to worry about. Get in the liquids and protein. Your stomach will not stretch like that... liquids tend to go from your stomach to your small intestine in less than 30 minutes.

    pain medication

I actually got my medical marijuana card back in 2019 when i got diagnosed with diverticulosis. and it worked amazing for the first year or so. After that it was no longer affective. I started to run into problems when i would use it and it would cause pain. no idea why and no doctor to see about it since technically marijuana is still illegal federally. But i switched to High CBD to low THC products and it helps a bit but not much.

    pain medication

Yea i hear that the gas pains are the worst of it and pain medication dont really do anything for that. Shall see what they actually give once surgery is over. In any case i secured some pain medication to keep on hand just incase. I always like to keep some on hand because i also have a condition called Diverticulosis and when that flares up oh man the pain is intense and have to be on 2 antibiotics for 2 weeks til it clears up.

    Protein Shakes Prop65

That prop 65 is bull crap from California. I never ever pay attention to any of that or any other warnings coming out of that place. But what protein shakes are you talking about anyway? I have a bunch from bariatric pal. They are great. The little protein shots are intense in flavor

    Chronic pain medications question

After surgery you get several medications to take in pill form. You can take them. Some get pain killers, Acid reducers and other stuff.
  13. So saw the surgeon today and i will be on a 2 week liquid diet which realllllllllyyyyyyy sucks. They will call me in the next day or two to schedule the surgery. Also paid the money today which was a sad sad thing lol I had to call the bank to let the transaction go thru since it was sooo high. They also provided the liquid diet shakes there at the office... Oh this is gonna be torture lol. I already told everyone in the house that once this two weeks diet starts no one is allowed to order any type of outside food. lol
  14. Curious if anyone has any heart valve issues? I have mild Pulmonary Heart Valve Regurgitation. Wondering if there will be any issues getting the surgery. Its in the paperwork i handed to my surgeon when i first met him but that appointment was not even 5 minutes long.

    Sleeve in Mexico/thru Tx?

Yes. ENDO HOSPITAL. its where i wanted to go if i was going to go to mexico. https://endohospital.mx/ and he has an amazing youtube channel as well. https://www.youtube.com/c/Endobariatric you can literally walk to his hospital from the border but they provide transportation. They only do sleeves tho i believe.

    Calories

I am on preop diet right now and my instructions say that as well... To drink like hot broth that the heat and sodium will help with the hunger.
  18. Reminds me of my 45 minute zoom video call for my nutritionist appointment. Was $400 for literally nothing... I already knew everything they said and i said nothing the entire time. they could have just made a video and put it on youtube.

    Insurance issue!

That may be a issue if no doctors in your area accept that insurance. you may need to go to California to have the surgery. Best thing to do is honestly give their customer service number a call and see.

    Post op necessities

THE CROCS!!! I forgot about those lmao. Going tomorrow to get me a pair for my surgery. Thanks for that reminder lol. oh and that throat spray, never heard of it... Gonna get me that too
  21. i had no idea that people kept the lap band in for so long. I thought that was a temporary thing for maybe a couple years or less.
  22. Yea they knock us out with general anesthesia. Most people have a appointment with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery to go over your medical history (I have my appointment next week for that)

    Kept it Quiet?

My parents know. Other peoples opinions are not my problem so i dont care if they support it or not lol. The purpose of the surgery is to better my life not theirs.
  24. I am currently on day 2 of my pre op diet... It sucks lol I am on 2 weeks... Surgeon says it depends on your BMI... My BMI is like 55, People on lower BMI have 1 week and there are those who dont even have to do a pre op diet just a liquid diet the day before surgery. but yea like someone already said every surgeon is different. Some surgeons allow at least 1 small meal along with the protein shakes a day, Some are strictly just liquid. So if you only have to do 7 days you are lucky in my opinion
  25. 2 weeks of a liquid diet and Surgery on the 18th. need to stock up on a few more things that i have coming from bariatricpal, need to hit up a dispensary (high CBD to low THC stuff) and get some pain medication as well just incase.
