    2nd Day Post Op

My stomach growls all the time. and i had my surgery on April 18th. Its not really hunger. Right now your head is telling you you may be hungry. once you start eating you will notice the growling, gurgling a lot more.

    2nd Day Post Op

I had the sleeve as well. The first couple weeks were brutal. I was able to drink cold drinks without issue tho. and yes i understand with the protein shakes. Warm is gross on those. You could also try other protein drinks. They sell like gatorade that has protein in it and other water type drinks that have protein.

    2nd Day Post Op

What surgery did you get? but yes the first week or 2 will be very hard. you had a major surgery. Need time to heal. Everyone has regrets right after surgery. But once you heal up its well worth it. as for the drinks at room temp. It helps. Some need some warm drinks and cold drinks to get thru.

    Surgery postponed

WOW!!! I have heard that they would do that if the liver was too big but never heard of it actually happening. How horrible.

    Surgery postponed

Did they open you up and close you back up? or did you get a scan of some kind to see the liver? but the best way to shrink the liver is the liquid diet we get put on. some are put on it for a few days while others for weeks. the longer the better to shrink the liver.

    Vitamins

I do not. My next appointment with the surgeon is August 2nd and i got lab orders which include iron in the mail yesterday. Made an appointment for Thursday so curious to see how it turns out

    Vitamins

This is what i take for my multivitamin.
  10. if it has a high amount of iron... You need to take it with food otherwise throwing up will keep happening. I try to eat and then take my capsule about 20 minutes later.
  11. same thing happened to me. I went with the capsules instead and with a lower iron MG count.

pre op diet for 3 weeks!

The length of your pre op diet typically depends on your BMI. On your profile it shows its 66. Some surgeons wont even operate on anyone with a BMI higher than 55-60 and its for safety issues. The heavier you are the more dangerous being put under anesthesia is. So they want to get you into a safe zone with your weight. as for smoking, Yup my surgeon said the same thing that you gotta quit by a certain point before surgery. It helps with healing to not smoke. My surgeon said that if it was too hard to let them know and they would prescribe some medication and or the patch, gum. watch this video. start at around 2 minute mark.
  13. i bought new clothes about a month and a half ago for my new job. they fit perfect. (pants, belt) Last night i noticed my pants where falling below the waist line which is not good because i carry a firearm for my job and it was sagging quite a bit and my belt was on its last hole and i could not keep it secured on my waist the way i like it. So time for new pants and a new belt. YAY lmao. lets keep this train going.

    Pre op diet- messing up/cheating

I did several times and no it does not depending on what you are eating. the whole point is to clear the fat off the liver and shrink it. If you cheat and are eating pizza, cheeseburgers ect... and they open you up on surgery date and your liver did not shrink, they will close you back up. Me what i "cheated" with was having 1 small meal a day. mostly 3oz of Sockeye Salmon and 2 ounces of veggies. Or 1 can of tuna. That was it. Tho you should try your hardest to stick to what your surgeon recommended.
  15. i had 1 incision that was extremely painful compared to the others. That one took a while to feel normal. The rest never really hurt. Surgeon said that one incision is the one where they pulled out the part of the stomach. its larger than the rest too

Day 11 PO and so tired

It gets better. Took me about a month to start exercising. The liquid only part of the post op is hard because you are not getting in a ton of calories. My nutritionist wanted me to consume at least 900-1200 calories before i started to do moderate exercising.
  17. i am 2-3 months out and i can eat a whole bagel if i wanted. Bagel may look big but once you chew chew chew it is not that big so of course you will be able to eat it all. Yesterday at work i ate a whole turkey and cheese sandwich within 10 minutes.

    Iced Coffee

Thats all i drink lol. currently drinking some now lol
  19. liveaboard15

    Pills

honestly your surgeon and whoever prescribed those pills will be able to tell you. but i was able to take capsules within a couple days from surgery without issue.

    Iced Coffee

thats probably why. I always pour the truvia in the cup first and then very hot coffee. It dissolves quickly

    Revision Dr in North Florida

I am not sure if they do revisions. You can call and ask but i had my sleeve done at Baptist Bariatrics Center in downtown Jacksonville, FL. I was self way as well since my insurance would not cover anything and i paid roughly $18-20K after everything. give them a call and see. https://www.baptistjax.com/services/bariatric-surgery

    Iced Coffee

I have iced coffee... regular coffee probably 2-3 times a night. I work overnights lol. No issues at all for me. I use Truvia for the sweetener and sugar free creamer.
  23. i gained a couple pounds from my first consult to my pre op appointment. It happens. as for the pre op diet... Yea its not easy. i dont know how long you will be on yours as you havent posted any weight or height in your profile but most common is 2 weeks. yea it sucks the first few days. After about 4-5 days you start to adjust and are not as hungry anymore. and yes that hunger feeling is horrible. but just think about what it will be like after surgery. I am almost 3 months post op. Rarely ever hungry. I gotta remind myself to eat and drink. Just gotta get thru this final step of the pre op diet and you will be golden.
