I used a straw a couple weeks after surgery. as for vitamins. its more about finding what works best for you. Its trial and error to find one that wont make you throw up or feel nausea. I personally take 1 of these a day. and even these cause me to throw up every once in a while.

What Health Changes have you seen?
liveaboard15 replied to SpartanMaker's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had high blood pressure before surgery. Almost immediately after surgery my blood pressure tanked. I was in the 130-140's with BPM around 90+. Now i am in the 110's and BPM around 55-60 resting. -
never seen that at the grocery store here. Looks interesting tho. As a nice side dish instead of always just meat meat meat. it gets old lol

your surgeon should be the one telling you exactly what kind of vitamins you need. As for where to get them. Tons of places. This very website sells them as well. which is where i get mine. Or really any major retailer.

I started cooking with this type of butter and olive oil probably 4 weeks after surgery. as for chips. I had some protein style chips/puffs a month or so after surgery. I am currently almost 4 months post surgery and i have had zero issues with any foods i have eaten.

Quitting Vape/Smoking
liveaboard15 replied to momo2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i dont smoke tobacco but my paperwork for my surgery said for those that were having issues with quitting for surgery to let the surgeon know and that they would prescribe something. Might be worth asking. -

Out of pocket payment before Insurance??
liveaboard15 replied to AmandaD.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Typically you need to pay that before hand when you book the procedure. But some places will do the procedure then submit to your insurance for payment and once they get their payment they would bill you for the remainder which would be due in full unless you made payment arrangements with the hospital. I would call your insurance and hospital to get a legit 100% firm answer on it. I was self pay and to book my surgery i had to pay almost everything up front. -
Milk and Yogurt pre op diet
liveaboard15 replied to fed-up's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i keep hearing about this method of pre op diet typically from people in the UK. It works i guess. For most here in the USA we do protein drinks several times a day for a certain amount of weeks (I did two weeks) -

i take one of these capsules a day. -
Yes my reflux was so bad the first couple weeks. It would be extremely painful if i laid down. my chest would be on fire.

So i am on a Cpap machine since last summer. I dont have another appointment with that type of doctor for a while. But so far after surgery i have not really needed it. Before i really needed it to sleep but for the last month or so i been doing fine without it. Sleeping well. Not snoring. so hopefully i can get another sleep study done and see if i actually still need it. But i still use it but some days i forget to use it and have no issues that i know of
-
It took almost a month before i could actually lay in my bed. I slept in a recliner. a Cane was also very helpful in getting up out of the recliner but having someone to help you up will be best because it can be very difficult for a while. i am now about 3 and a half months post op and have no issues sleeping in any position.

Laxatives Before Surgery ?
liveaboard15 replied to fed-up's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
no... you do your pre op diet. and then your hospital paperwork should tell you to avoid eating after midnight and only liquids before surgery. Your stomach is cleared way before you go into surgery. All that stuff has moved onto your colon. -
Doctors in Mexico who perform on lower BMI?
liveaboard15 replied to ESGSkinnyLegend's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
curious. Why do a weight loss surgery with such a low BMI? 25 is considered basically normal or just slightly overweight. What is your current weight and height? or is there another reason for wanting this surgery? -
4 days post op and you want to move onto soft foods? most at least wait 2 weeks minimum for solids. I did liquids only for 2 weeks post op and after that i was cleared to try some soft foods like scrambled eggs. Which i had and had no issues. Tho i could only eat maybe half an egg. I ended up just buying quail eggs since they are much smaller.

i would simply cut those people out of my life... What is the point of being around them if thats how they are? Stop talking to them, stop seeing them and move on with bettering your life.

What to pack for hospital stay and things needed post op once at home?
liveaboard15 replied to Bricam20's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
A cane was very helpful once i got home. Getting up is extremely difficult at first. Also a recliner. -
Looks great. One other pizza crust i have seen on youtube is the chicken crust. Basically they take canned chicken, Mash it and form it into the pizza shape and then add the sauce, cheese, toppings. Been wanting to try that.

Help? i can barely drink anything.....
liveaboard15 replied to FFKiwi's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I did not even know they still did the balloon. But with any surgery it takes time to heal. I was no where near the 64oz after my gastric sleeve It took me several weeks to get enough water in. even now 3+ months post op but now its more of having to remember to drink water,. If you keep having issues i would call your surgeons office to get advise. -
I was given a medication called Ursodiol 300mg twice a day for 1 year and it dissolves gall stones. I would not want mine removed if it did not need to be. So far 3 months post op i am doing fine without issue. The medication is a bit on the pricey side. With insurance i pay around $130 for 180 pills. without insurance its like $750
