Going for an RNY on the 9th of May 22. I am trying to find my way around this site. I would also like to know when and how I can enter my details about myself on the left hand size of this screen. Hope to hear from some-one.
Hi,
Hope you're well, welcome and great news about your surgery.
You have to use a computer to collate that section, it is in the top right section where the dropdown under your username is - it took me ages to figure it out!

On the 8th when I got discharged I went to go to the bathroom and I’ve never seen that much blood in my life. But I’m also on blood thinners. First thing I’ve noticed is that the bleeding is heavier and my period is lasting longer than 2 days.
Keep an eye on it and make sure you take Iron supplements.

Hi, My Fitness Pal seems to be the most popular, I use it and it helps a lot.

Surely if you are in a calorie deficit then you will continue to lose weight until you reach maintenance.

Do you think it is because you have a lowered immune system and a runny nose is your body's defence? Try taking Vit C.

Male members can read but are not meant to reply in the 'gals room' (and the sames applies to the equivalent males room).
The 'gals' room doesn't preclude biological males who identify as female (and the sames applies to the equivalent males room) but I hope people find a safe place in either room for what they are posting about.
Thanks that's useful information.

You can identify as you wish and should be respected as such, however only cis women menstruate, not all cis women do but only cis women can.

I think it's fine for guys to learn a thing or two about periods too 😂
Yes sure I agree, just wanted responses based on experience rather than mansplaining.

I just had VSG last week so I’m still learning the ropes. I hope that’s helpful!
That is really helpful, I am thinking of getting the implant in my arm but ideally would not use anything hormonal.

Well done, you have to start somewhere!
Keep it up!

I have made the decision to avoid white potato, I did try sweet potato mash (I too am approx. 5 week out) and it went down like a lead balloon, I was in agony.
No potato for me, and to be honest, I don't really miss it.

I have always been a freezing cold person but when I got to my highest weight of 215.8lb I was always feeling hot, I was sweating loads and felt like I was always on fire.
I am now down to about 190lb and I feel okay with a regulated temperature. I think as my weight decreases, this will change.

I have found not being able to drink with my meals really difficult, I have always drunk with my food as a means to wash it down.
Not being able to drink for 30 mins after my meals leave me feeling thirsty and as if my food is stuck - perhaps I need to chew a lot more.
Drinking before a meal makes me feel fuller quickly but also make me feel as if my food is stuck and not going down because of the liquid in my stomach.

I have an iud and hadn't had a cycle for about 2yr.
After sleeve the cramps were ridiculous and the bleeding was annoying!
Thank you so much for replying, I was very worried.

Thank you so much for your replies, I was really worried about it.
It is very reassuring having this forum,
Thanks ladies

Hi all,
Hope you are all doing well.
I am 5 weeks post-sleeve and take the pill as contraception. I take this back to back and don't usually allow myself a period (this is totally safe).
For the past few days I have been experiencing heavy painful bleeds, do you think this has anything to do with the sleeve or weight loss?
Does the sleeve have any bearing on how medication (the pill in this case) is absorbed by the body?
I would appreciate any help/ advice!
Thank you!!

I had my sleeve on Dec 20th so I am a little ahead of you, I have decided to stay on liquids an extra week as I just didn't feel ready, I have been nibbling on some cheese though.
I don't feel that I am reaching my Protein or Water goals but doing my best, I don't feel hungry apart from in an evening but I think that is more habit as I was an evening snacker.
I so get the feeling of wanting to chew!! You are doing well with your loss, keep hydrated though!

I lost nothing on the pre op liquid diet after not eating for 7 days and walking 10,000 steps per day on average. This coming Friday I’ll be 4 weeks post op and I haven’t lost anything in the last 3 weeks. I’m starting to feel like God wants me to be fat and/or I just have to accept that I’m going to lose it slower than most but not have lose skin in the end and hopefully have the body that I actually want.. smaller but toned. I am happy for you but I’m not sure why my scale isn’t moving so soon after weight loss surgery. I want to be out of the 200’s already. I started at 241 and have stalled at 228 for 3 weeks now. I’m frustrated. Any tips?
Don't be disheartened, just trust the process, it will come off. Do try increasing your Water and Protein.

Hi!
Yes I managed to figure it out, I found that you need to use a laptop as opposed to your phone!

I’ve always been a fast eater, due to short school or work breaks in previous years.
I’m never a metre away from Gaviscon! Because it’s a life saver when this happens.
Everyday is a school day getting used to a new way of living… I’ve only really ever had one proper episode of ‘dumping’ and that was at Christmas, I got too greedy and I very much regretted that moment! It’s the only time I’ve vomited since surgery.
we are all going through this together.. this is why this forum is so nice, it’s a great place to discuss these things with people who really understand.
i just always had that final goal in my mind and pushed through.. but still I’m teaching myself each day new boundaries. 😊Absoloutely, I was sick once after having cottage cheese, put me off for life. I think I ate too quickly though, takes some getting used to but hopefully will become second nature!!

I have a fibre supplement I got from my pharmacy it’s called ‘ Ispaghula Husk’ it’s an orange powder in individual sachets and I have one a day mixed with Water. It’s helped ease the constipation! However I’m still only going once a week.
I try to have weetabix a few times a week for Breakfast - I can only manage 1 though.
they say to eat more fibrous veg! But when you try and get the Protein from meat it doesn’t leave much room for veg! Constant battle lol 😂drinking and eating is a strange one… I do try and avoid it. Sometimes I do sip Water but it can bring on some pain so try to avoid it as much as I can.
But yes agree.. it’s hard to eat and not drink at the same time!I have heard of Ispaghul, I will look into getting some or even some Fibregel. I guess the not eating and drinking is something I will acclimatise to. The other thing I am struggling with is pacing myself when I eat or drink, I forget to take breaks and that can be painful and leave me with feeling I have something stuck in my throat!

We would have grown old together without a piece of paper to tell us to do so. I imagine we would have been in our 90's before we looked at each other and be like, "well, the kids have grandkids of their own now, suppose we should get married for insurance purposes since we're fixing to die soon?"
I don't regret marrying my husband, I do regret not having any pictures that day, however that moment will always take place in my heart.
February 4, 2016 2pm: Married,
February 5, 2016 9am: WLS Day- 231lbs.
As February approaches this year, I look back into time. 6 years it's been and I still struggle every day with my size. I can't see it, I still buy clothes too big for myself and I was court ordered a couple years ago to update my driver's license due to my drastic transformation resulting in a steady 109lbs.
Skin surgery is recommended for me due to repeat infections and I am not sure is my mind will ever catch up to my actual bmi.

You know what, I totally get it, your mind is yet to catch up with your body and weight loss. You are obviously looking very different if the courts asked you to get a new driving license.
Take your time and trust the process, how about looking at some pictures of yourself from before and after and noting the changes mentally. You can keep this pics totally private.
The best of luck x
