  1. Oh i know how you feel. It was 4 days after my first fill. I went over my granny's and she made pork tenderloin. When i ate earlier that day i was fine and when i started to feel hungry again i went to finish my plate. Well the piece that i had on my plate was a lil dry and i dont think that i chewed the piece well enough. OMG the pressure in my chest was sooo bad. My mom knew that i was feeling bad. i too tried to walk around to get it down, but that didnt work. Lets just say i felt better after i threw up 3 times.

Now...i chew chew chew, and leave dry meat alone.

  2. Dr. Benavides is a wonderful doctor also. Him and Dr. Felts are actually in the same office. Like steve said below, they both have alot of experience. Some of the other doctors in Dallas that I've heard of are Dr. Wade Barker and Dr. Marsden (sp?)

But again I will give props to my Doc...Dr. Benavides:thumbup:

  3. My friend told me that some people will not treat you the same after you lose the weight and won't be the fat friend anymore. She also told me that the ones that are not your true friends you might lose. I was like if they weren't my true friends, then i don't need them anyway. why would someone want you fat and unhealthy and not be happy for me when I'm doing better for myself. Don't worry about it...be strong and move on with the new sexier you:cool:

  4. Congrats!! I know that you are excited. I would say just go in calm, the surgery is not bad at all. I don't know if your hospital will supply this or not, but make sure that you have a pillow to put across your tummy. You'll need this when you get in and out of the car and I know that I sleep with mine on my tummy. I also use it when I have to sneeze or walk with the first few days after surgery. It helps a lot. I had my surgery on the 11th and I still use my pillow. The way our desks are at work my stomach may rub on the desk so I use it there too.

Make sure that you just relax after surgery, I found it comfortable to sleep on the couch. Also make sure that you have loose and comfortable clothes to wear, you don't want nothing to tight on your belly.

Make sure to get all your Proteins after surgery. I know that at first I didn’t get all mine in because I wasn’t hungry, and didn’t feel like drinking that shake, but try to get them in.

Also try to walk as much as possible I know at first you're not going to feel like it but it helps.

Everything will be fine, soon you'll be on your way to a new you!

  5. Thanks for the advice you guys! I've noticed that my side gas likes to come when it's time to go to bed. Walking has helped and I also bend over the side of the couch and that helps.

Aww ATLSpeedy, I didn't mean to scare you. Everybody doesn't get the bad gas pains. The Mylanta has been working ok but I do think the combination of that plus drinking hot liquids and walking, helps with getting the gas off. You would thing with all the burping I've been doing that the gas would be gone by now..lol

Good Luck with your surgery Tuesday. We'll be praying for you.

  6. Hello,

I've been banded for over a week now and I pretty much have no incision pains, but I do have a lot of gas pains. At first they were in my back and now they have moved to my left side. The left side gas pains started Monday night and it was soo bad that I almost shedded some tears. I had to leave work early Tuesday because I could barely stand up straight. I've took the gas-x strips and they really didn’t help. I'm now taking Mylanta and its ok but i can still feel the pains trying to start.

Are there any other gas meds that you guys have used for relief? What did y'all do to get through the gas pains. I don't think my poor left side can’t take anymore shooting gas pain....its sore now.

  7. Hey Y'all,

    I'm gonna whine a lil bit here.

  8. The same thing happened to me, but they told me this on the day i got approved. Since I didn't meet my out of pocket, they said that i had to pay the doctor $700, the hospital $2400, and about $190 for the anesthesiologist. The 700 for the doctor, I had to pay on my appointment that I had the Friday before my sugery. the hospital wanted a downpayment the day of surgery and they would bill the rest along with the fee for the anesthesiologist. Everything is really expensive, I told myself that I will be living like a college student again for awhile. One good thing is right now i can't eat that much so i dont have to spend that much money on food.

  9. Hi All!!

I had my surgery on Monday and everything went fine.

I went into prep around 11:45a, and some on the last things I remember was the anesthesiologist putting the feel good meds in my IV and them telling me to move over to the operating table. The next thing I know I was in recovery.

Right now I’m dealing with gas and back pains. I'm so proud of myself today..i ate 3.5oz of baby food!!!!:tongue_smilie:

Again..thank you for the prayers and support!! I appreciate it all.
