I went to regular foods fairly quickly, too. Mashed potatoes and stewed beef gravy tasted heavenly to me as my first "solid" meal. But I still avoid untoasted white breads, Pasta, and rice. I do not want to risk anything getting stuck. You will more than likely see a huge change after that first fill. I know I did! Hang in there....I'm sure you'll be fine!:biggrin:

Hey! I'm doing great. I haven't had any complications at all since the surgery. And my first fill went really well. He put in 4 cc's and I could tell a HUGE difference after that. I was scared at first that I was too tight, but I'm okay. I didn't lose anything this week, but I think it's the bites and nibbles (Christmas snacks) that have caught up with me. I feel great, though! Thanks!:biggrin:

Did Dr. Gary Robinson do anyone else's surgery on here? I've been to one support group meeting at Davis Regional Medical Center since my surgery and there were some great ladies there. I'm hoping some of you visit this board. I've gotten a lot of helpful information by reading these posts! :biggrin:

I'd stay away from the bones. LOL I've only had one fill so far and it really made a huge difference. I haven't tried eating pickles or popcorn. But I did try a few bites of a steak biscuit from Bojangles (minus the top of the biscuit) and thought I would die!:biggrin: I'm loving my band overall, though!

Hello everyone! I've decided to have the lap band surgery probably in October or November of this year -- Statesville, NC. I have found out that my health insurance will pay 90% of the cost. I've been "dieting" my way up to 267 lbs and I'm finally fed up. This is it. I've already been to an information session and everything....this is the right thing for me to do. I just wanted to say "hello" and sort of introduce myself. I'm 40 years old. I have 2 kids -- 19 and 9 and I've been dating a wonderful (supportive) guy for 1 1/2 years now. I want to lose the weight for me. I'm tired of being tired....if that makes any sense? :-) I look forward to hearing any feedback you may can share with me to sort of ease my nervousness about all this.

No...I haven't started an excercise program, yet. But I need to! I keep letting things get in my way...the rush of the Holiday season, being busy with housework when I get home from work, etc... I have a great place to walk at work. My plan is to eat my lunch then go out in the warehouse and walk. Best of luck to you! Cindy

I can tell a HUGE difference since my first fill. I had it done the week after Thanksgiving and now I eat a lot less. I never got to that "elephant sitting on my chest" feeling before the fill. I try not to eat too much because I don't like that feeling at all.:cursing: I dropped 5 lbs the week of the first fill! The actual fill was not painful, it was just a little strange-feeling. The dr. had me sit up in the bed and drink some Water while the needle was still in me...that made me feel a little sick. Oh...and he was in a good mood because he came down the hospital hall singing "I'm in The Mood for Love". :huh2:

Jules - I can totally relate about the whole WW thing. I tried WW for years before deciding to have the surgery and have had an experience of being "shunned" by the WW crowd. I'm so happy I had the surgery! :huh2:

Thanks everyone! Turns out I really had nothing to be worried about. Everything with my surgery went wonderfully!! I'm doing great and have lost 33.5 lbs so far. My surgery was Oct. 6 at Davis Hospital in Statesville. I've been to my first support group meeting there and it was very helpful. I've also had my first fill and BOY did things change for me after that! For the good...but wow, what a difference in the amount of food I can eat.:huh2: I look forward to getting to know all of you!

It's so good to see that another one of Dr. Robinson's (Davis Regional Medical Center, Statesville) patients are on here! My surgery was on October 6 and I have had no complications at all. I'm loving it! And I love being 33.5 pounds down, too! :ohmy:

I can tell it's time for my fill. I'm waiting on the appointment time right now. I have been a lot more hungry this week. The nurse said it's because my swelling from surgery has gone down, therefore making my band more loose. It's a relief to hear and read that it's not that bad.:tongue2:

Hey! I am doing great since my surgery on Oct. 6. No complications at all. I had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon yesterday and he's scheduling my first fill that he wants to do at the hospital instead of at his office. As of today, I'm down 24 lbs!:tongue2: YAY! Hope everyone is well!
