  1. Just sharing the Irish equivalent. Had no idea it was so (relatively) low in protein - I do track *everything* but I must have missed this in the general deliciousness of Boursin!

    Finally reached goal!

So fab to hear your story OP! Hope this gets you to where you need to be.

How much protein is too much?

I know I post the same thing all the time but I was never given ANY goals - protein, fluids, nothing! It was totally reach your stages by texture. Eat as much as you can of: clear liquids; thick/full liquids; puree; soft foods; proper endgame food. That was it! I've done fine but that was with the help of everyone here. Think my surgeon's 'hands off' approach is probably fine for some people but not others.

    NEED ADVICE/GUIDANCE/HELP!!!!

OK - firstly, you are doing absolutely fine. Anyone who has lost 60lbs in 5.5 months is WINNING! We all stray from the path a little at times! You have already identified where you strayed - carbs. So from tomorrow, get back to your surgeon's plan. I suspect it will be protein first, veg second, carbs last (by a long way). Stick to that. I have a sleeve and I was still losing miniscule amounts of weight almost 2 years out. You have loads of time to get to where you want to be. I wish you luck!

    Puree

What surgery did you have and how long ago OP? It would help us to advise you if you could provide a little more detail. 👍 I had a sleeve, and in the puree phase (2-4 weeks post op) I was eating WAY less than 100 grams/3.5oz per meal. Probably more like 2oz? But I was getting protein in in other ways (shakes).

    NO TRACKING ?

Oh I am so sorry - this has never happened to me before but everything this evening is posting repeatedly 😥

    NO TRACKING ?

I track everything every day and I think I always will. Could be just me though. Hasn't stopped me regaining 5 pounds from my lowest weight a few months ago. I honestly did nothing different (I mean NOTHING) so am chalking it up to the mysterious third year gain. Annoying but not too concerning at this point - am monitoring closely though!

  16. Our tastes change and change and change again in the months after surgery. As long as you can meet your team's goals you will be absolutely fine - don't worry.

    Need some infos about macros

I honestly got no recommendations at all from my team. Just textures and a suggested set of menus for each stage. I learned everything here! Turned out OK for me despite the lack of information because people here helped me. I hope you do similarly well OP!
  21. I also can't speak to co-morbidities other than some arthritis in my hips and knees. That's definitely better now but it wasn't my main motivation to have my surgery. I wanted not to become diabetic or develop any other weight-related disease. There's a definite risk of developing reflux after a gastric sleeve whereas that risk isn't there with bypass so you need to take that into consideration. We all react to surgery in different ways and it can be impossible to predict accurately in advance so do discuss bypass with your surgeon too. They'll have up to date stats about the likely relative effects on your diabetes for sure. The sleeve has been everything I wanted and more. My only regret, as we often say here, is not having it done 20 years earlier. I hope your surgeon can help you decide whether it's best for you.
  22. Sounds grim. I hope you have a speedy and full recovery and feel much better soon. 🤩
  23. This is absolutely normal. Almost everyone experiences stalls multiple times. So many factors contribute. Keep to your programme and you will hopefully be back on track really soon!

    HELP

Oh at 6 days out I was still on liquids OP! Didn't get to puree until 2 weeks after my sleeve. Honestly - get as close as you can to your protein goal and don't worry too much about that. At this stage what matters most is not getting dehydrated, so focus on your fluids! Hair loss will happen because that's what our bodies do when we cut calories. Not sure what, if anything, stops that. It's not nice but it does stop eventually.
