    November Surgery Buddies!!!

8 months in. More days that I feel good than bad. Weight loss slowed, probably due to summer vacations and not watching what I'm doing as well. Some days I feel like I "don't hit my limit "... in other words, I feel like I ate a lot today and the last few days. That scares me a little. I feel like I need a good reset. That said, I'm down about 125. My clothes are still feeling looser... to clarify, my new replacement pants are getting too loose. My ring is almost falling off. My arrhythmia... the reason for the surgery is nearly completely gone. So, good stuff. My bellybutton gets irritated and seems to weep... gross... I'm not sure why. Will be talking to the nurse tomorrow. Need to just refocus and reset though. I'd like to lose another 10 in the next month which will require me to get back on track... I'm in a wedding. I have 2 more vacations coming up, so I gotta be good. I should be able to get more activity in which will be a plus. Walking and hiking. Good luck everyone!

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I agree on the volume going up a bit, but knowing when to stop is key. I hit 284 with my weigh in yesterday... that's -119 overall. Very happy. My arrhythmia is down to once per month which is amazing. And I'm finding that I can be much more active. I competed with my coworkers during May to count steps. I was able to log and average 0ver 10,000 steps per day over the entire month. I took a break last week, but I'm ready to get back to some walking this week. See you next in the 270's 😁👍
  3. My mind has still not caught up to my body. While I do fit into some 3xl shirts now, I still buy 4xl... even though I've dropped 120lbs. To be fair, most of my 4xl stuff that fits now are the Nike Pro athletic cut wicking shirts that run small. They never fit before. But, Its still weird. However, I am committing to ordering my new work shirts as 3xl and one as a 2xl just to try on occasionally.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Just a quick update. Been hitting the pavement and getting a lot of steps in this month. Averaging 8000 steps per day for the month of may. Still trying to drink a ton as well. I followed up last week's minus 4 with another minus 5 this week! Very excited that I found a formula that broke 3 weeks of minus 1 losses. I didn't want to put this out there at first because I felt it was too much of a brag... but I decided that some people might benefit and be motivated to change things up if they need to try to break their stall! Good luck everyone!

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Stall broken with today's weigh in with a minus 4. That feels good. Again... i pushed the fluids hard this week. As in, I was drinking between 125 and 150 oz of water each day. Still ate plenty of protein and also started participating in a step count contest at work... averaged 10k steps per day. Good week.

I don't weigh in until tomorrow but I feel like I've had a good week pushing my fluids and getting lots of steps. We shall see. In next week's edition of how to break a stall, I'm getting a colonoscopy! Lol. This will be interesting.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

So, for second week in a row I'm down 1.2lbs. That feels painfully slow. I mean, it's still the right direction but, well you understand. I'm 2 weeks away to my 6 month mark. My goal was 290 by the 15th... but since I was 297 this morning, I'd predict 294. I shouldn't complain ... it's still all good. To focus on the bright side, I'm 2 weeks under 300. I'm much more active than I was 6 months ago and I'm feeling great. I'm walking at the rec center 4 to 5 days per week and hitting light weights after along with a short sweat in the sauna. Diet wise, my day looks about like this... coffee and protein shake, ... maybe an apple, 1/2 Gatorade zero and water with benefiber, maybe 1 egg around 11, tuna or chicken or egg salad for lunch, other half Gatorade zero and water with benefiber, usually fish or shrimp for dinner... or I just try to keep it reasonably healthy and on a saucer sized plate. Sometimes a late afternoon snake as well. So, the one thing I know I can do is a couple of liquid only days... that should help to jumpstart my progress again, maybe I can do that mid week this coming week. Good luck everyone.

Congratulations! Me too. Celebrating my first full week under 3bills.
  9. Dropped something by my feet while I was driving... just picked it up. Lol ... so simple yet so rewarding.
  10. I've dug out a bunch of old jeans... some of which I've shrunk through the sizes already. Bought a pair of work pants out of necessity... BTW, the slim fit calf BS is never going to work for my legs no matter how much weight I lose. Nice thing is that I have a row of nearly new dress shirts in the closet waiting for the next 15 to drop off. Funny one... I went to put on a hat and had to adjust the size down, lol my head is getting smaller too!

I also struggle with straight water. I have read tha alkaline water is easier... but I don't like to pay for it. When my costco has it, I buy a case of the Gatorade Zero with Protein and then dilute it 50/50 with water to stretch the pennies and also get more fluid in. 4 and 1/2 months out from surgery plus my 1 week prep ... I'm down 97 lbs. I'm at a point where I've been at this weight a couple times in my adult life. What will be interesting and probably weird... is how I will look and feel after another 5 or 6 months when I'm back to weights closer to high school and college.

4 month appointment today also. 87 down. Great appointment. Feeling good. Warm day, just walked for about an hour. Also, asked for more "sample Calcium citrate chews" (they're kinda pricey) and the dietitian GAVE me an entire 90 count bag! My lucky day I guess. Congrats to everyone on your successes.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

So, we're in about the same boat. I'm down 83lbs in 3 months and 10 days. Still going in the right direction, even if slowing down. Hitting between 6500 and 9000 steps per day at this point ... that about an hour of walking daily after work. Mixing in band exercises while at the office and while walking. The diet is still fairly clean, especially during the work week.... though I did allow myself a piece of toast today. Only lost 1.8 lbs this week, but a loss is a loss. I had ...probably an unrealistic goal, to reach -100 by my March 17 doctor appointment. Looking like it will be closer to -90. Which of course is still fantastic! Wearing clothes that I haven't been able to wear in a while. Need to break down and buy a couple pairs of salvation army pants soon... as it is I have to wear shorts under my pants to keep them up! Lol. I'm thinking about starting some weight training soon. I know there are different camps on this idea but I want to counter some of the loose skin by building some tone. I'll likely see the scale slow even further but I need to realize that the redistribution of weight is there. Looking forward to the next -17!

I'm in nearly the same boat. Numbers are nearly the same as you except I'm hovering at 344 at this point. I've managed to start walking this week. I figured that if I had a good week with adding some walking, I might break through the plateau... nope. Nothing moved today. My goal is 328 by Feb 15, but I'm feeling like I won't quite make it unless this plateau breaks soon. I'm focusing on adding fiber to the diet in the form of supplements and salads. Anything to help me get "moving". Hoping the walks help with that too.

Okay. It took almost 2 weeks but my stall finally broke. Down 6 today from last week. That's 51# down since Nov 8. I focused on the protein and fluids this week. Hair looking a bit thin already though. I don't dig that. Oh well.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Had a bad day. I feel like I really wanted to eat too much. I didn't feel the same fullness today for some reason. That has me scared. I've been stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks. I know I need to trust the process, but at the moment, I'm wondering if this is going to work for me.
  17. When inflammation goes away, it seems like bleeding gums do too. My dental hygentist was very impressed with my gums today.

Guessing I'm hitting the famous 3 week post op stall. I'm actually up 2 lbs over the last 5 days. Maybe connected to starting puree? Not sure. Focusing on water and protein today. Also, I typically am not weighing mid week. I did today only because I have a zoom meeting with my doc this morning. Have a good day!

On another note, I'm in the puree stage now. Puree tuna, egg salad... both good. And I made the Ricotta Bake tonight... very satisfying. Pre packaged all my puree meals for the rest of the week.

Michigan is bad covid wise right now... worst in the country and about as bad as it's been the whole time. I sorta want to avoid people in general. I have 2 buddies with covid right now. 1 has been hospitalized since Nov 18. I've had covid twice and vaccinated. I don't need it again.

    November 2021 surgeries

I need to figure out a way to start moving more. It got cold here in Michigan and on top of that, I've been cold in my house since the surgery. I wrap up in sweats and a blanket when I'm home. So the thought of walking outdoors... well, just not happening right now.

It's different for everyone. My SIL had it bad after gallbladder surgery. Mine was only bad the day of surgery. So bad I told them I had made a mistake and to put everything back. Then the good drugs kicked in.

Pain up un your shoulders is likely trapped gas from the surgery. Move around a lot... that will work out. Mine is lower.

    November 2021 surgeries

So, I'm a little more than two weeks out from surgery. Seems like every evening I deal with some back pain. It's more middle of the back... possibly near my kidneys. It's an annoying ache. I thought it might be from not getting enough water or from the fact that I have started to add some pureed items to the diet choices, but I can't figure it out. Anyone else?

    This surgery is bullshit...

Seek out a counselor and dietitian. They can help you. Log everything. Stick to the plan and it will work.
