  1. Banded 4th Sept, 39lbs down and have refused all fills so far as I was losing nicely on my own without any hunger.

I have an appointment on the 23rd Jan to have my first as of late I have been feeling a bit of hunger, not massive just a little. My weight loss has slowed as well, so maybe its time.

Hope you all had a great holiday and happy NEW YEAR!

    bye

  2. Hi everyone, just checking in to say I have lost more weight this week and today I am off to the doctors. If he want to give me a fill I will be persuading him against it as I am still losing and never hungry. Why make life difficult? If it aint broken, why fix it? Anyway catch up again next week.

  3. Planning keeps you safe and makes you accountable. I eat what the family is eating but in 1 cup full amounts which has all been weighed and entered into my computer food and exercise database. This way I can make sure I am getting all my nutritional needs, I can look at balance and in doing this it makes me feel safe.

I still allow myself treats but instead of gorging on WHOLE pack of fries I am happy with 5.

    Good luck with it

  4. Simon, try more Protein as it more satisfying and leaves you less hungry. Also if you really think your stuck, (I doubt that you really are, because if you are eating only 1 cupful per meal of good healthy food, then you got to lose weight.) you can step up your exercise. I had one week were it seemed I put on half a pound but hey it was only temporary and since then I have lost 3lb a week, and in the last 3 weeks I have done NO exercise as I have had the flu. Hang in there!

  5. Tamihot,

Chin up, tits out ready to face the world. You will be fine especially if you continue to check in here to people who care, support and make you feel less alone.

Just ask and help will be here for you

Best wishes in everything regarding your band, job and family,

    Take care

    Deb

  6. I've got no restrictions, seems like I can eat about 2+ cups of anything without a problem. I haven't tried any raw veggies yet, or nuts or cheese.

Hey I am very concerned that you are putting 2 cups full in at any one meal. in a 3 meal day. Your pouch will be stretched to smithereens and no wonder you will have to eat more and more to satisfy yourself.

The band is a tool and will not do the job for you. Some restraint is NEEDED.

  7. I think the American doctors or is it the insurance companies are so scared of being sued or being up for a fortune, that they have you jumping through all these hoops. They rely on all the other physicians to say that you are well enough to go under.

In Australia I had one meeting with surgeon and could have had op 2 weeks later however it suited me to wait 3 months so I could have op during my school break

TWELVE separate items - including -

Psych evaluation This could be very important for some

Cardiologist w/EKG Had this day before surgery

    Pulmonologist

Dietitian/Nutritionist Would have been interesting to have this

    Physical Therapy

Doppler of legs and carotid arteries

Chest x-ray, blood work Some blood tests day before surg.

    Endoscopy (Gastroenterologist)

Diet history w/probably 6-mo supervised diet

Primary doctor's note of approval This was necessary

    Mandatory support group meeting

    Sleep Apnea studies

Meeting with anthetist day before surgery.

Just noting the differences in the systems thats all!

    Very interesting!

  8. I totally understand what your saying. In her defense she just had surgery & maybe she's not up to doing much yet. :cursing: Mc'd's is ok once in awhile. I'm sure she doesn't give it to her kids on a regular basis. I had my surgery the same day as her & I have three little ones all under 6yrs old. As, you can imagine it's not easy. :cool2:

Please understand I am not trying to be fresh in anyway. I'm just seeing her side too. :-)

Yes Heidib you are right, I apologise, just because I was good to go straight after surgery doesn't mean others were. I take your point and apologise to Terrilyn as well.

  9. GOOD LUCK with your fill on the first. I'll see my surgeon that day too, but not for a fill. It's my first follow up with him since my surgery. So I'll be thinking of you. And lucky me, I get to stay there all day, as my twins have check ups that day as well, two hours later. I'll bring my Protein Shake (will be there thru lunch) and get the boys some mc d's. No problem not eating that junk.

    Teri

Why would you want to feed your precious children junk like that either? They deserve better than junk surely!

  10. OKAY checking in here. 3 weeks today since I was banded and I am still on my liquid diet (docs orders). Coping remarkably well considering. I lost 7kg or 16lb in the first 17 days. I have been getting 60-80gm of Protein a day via powders added to shakes and Soups. My calorific intake has been aprox 900 per day and I have used up 360 cals per day by the aqua aerobics that I have been doing daily since Moday this week. WHY OH WHY!!! have I put in 1.5 kg or approx 3lb this week! I feel a bit pissed off that I have gone through all this and I am putting weight on!!!

    Bye DEB

  11. TWINMOMMY13: this site has been my saviour as my doc just treated my like a sausage in a sausage factory, just getting shunted through with only 5 mins consultation to organise surgery in June, didn't even see him before or after the surgery, so basically all the information I received was curtesy of the knowledgable and kind people on here. So hang in there with us and don't be afraid to ask for help. Goodluck with your babies, your study and your weightloss. YOU ARE NOT ALONE HERE!
