Ohhhh, I'm so excited for you SW!!!! Please do let us know how all goes!! :tongue2:)
  5. Wow!! 12 pounds!! That is FANTASTIC. My hubby let me weigh today LOL When I started on Saturday I was 256.8 and today, I was 253.0. So, almost 4 pounds. I hope to lose at least 10 more before surgery ,but don't know if I will make it. :o) I am following this diet to the T too! I can't imagine wearing "normal" clothes either. I am going to bring my video camera to the hospital with me on surgery day. Wow, we are almost there!!! :o)

  6. Hey Bobbie!

I'm going into day 4. So far so good, yes I have horrible hunger pangs from time to time, but I am actually handling it quite well! I have no idea how much weight I have lost my hubby hid my scales LOL I get to weigh on Wednesday though. :o) How are you doing?

  7. Yes, Carlinsmom!! ONe week to go!!! It's hard to believe that this time next week, I will be going over everything to make sure I have everything packed that I am going to take to the hospital with me. I am for sure bringing my laptop and camera so I can make another Youtube video!! My tummy is sooooo growling right now though LOL
  8. Hello All :rolleyes2:) I have almost 7 days to go until I am banded. I was wondering if anyone who gets fills or will be getting them knows if they cover fills or at least part of them? I talked to Aetna today and they sent me a bulletin, but it doesn't say one way or the other if they cover them or not. Thank you in advance!! :crying:)
  9. Hi Emilie! Thank you so much for responding!! Mine is 80/20 as well. I know my doctor charges 250 per fill, so I was a little worried I would have to change my doctor to a doctor who is closer and charges 87.00 for a fill. I guess I will find out when I go in for my first fill. But, I should think of one Aetna PPO would cover it, mine should too; 95 for a fill isn't so bad, but 20 is definitely better. I just hope this week goes by fast!! ) I am anxious to get the surgery over and begin healing. Tomorrow will be my 4th day on my liquid preop diet. I know I have lost some weight, but my hubby hid my scales ! :crying: He knows how obsessive I am about weighing. He wouldn't even let me sneak off to the bathroom at the gym, because he knew I would sneak off and weigh !! :rolleyes2::crying: Oh well!! I will find out on Wedneday. He made a deal with me. So, I can wait until then! ) Thank you again for responding; it gives me a little bit of hope that maybe my fills will be covered.
  10. I know what you mean CAntB2noty!! I can't "eat" anything either LOL All mine is liquid. This is the third day of my diet.

    Preop diet Day 2

Today was day 2 of my preop diet. I have been quite surprised at how things are going. Yes! I have been getting hungry, but I have not been craving anything and I have even cooked for my husband and son without wanting to sneak anything; but, this is only day 2. My stomach does these bumpy, rolling things in my stomach when I have the hunger pangs. I am thinking this could be gas in my stomach as well. I can't weigh, because my hubby hid my scales . I had made the comment the other night that I wanted to wait until the night before surgery. He told me today to wait until Friday. I think I can. When I was on my 3-month supervised diet I weighed EVERDAY. I do think that you can set yourself up for disappointment and discouragement by doing this. Because one's weight can fluctuate 3 to 4 pounds even from one day to the next, I found. With each passing day, I become more and more excited. I know the night before surgery I will be nervous, but I feel amazingly calm about it. I absolutely cannot wait until I feel good enough about myself that I will want to do everything under the sun with my hubby and son. It's hard to believe that almost a year later, I am almost at the point of surgery. Just 8 more days!! Wow!

  13. You know, mylisa1, my husband and I were talking about this type of thing several weeks ago. How guys can go up to each other and say hey! You sure have gained weight. Or they say something like Hey! You're ugly! and this is "okay" to do to one another. I don't care who you are, if you are joking or not, any type of negative comment has to embed in one's psychy somewhere. Guys don't show the emotional side of themselves like women do. If someone were to say those things to a woman, she would most likely burst out crying. I just think before you say something that is supposed to be "funny" then it should be evaluated to see if it could be taken as a personal offense to another person, be it male or female. Congratulations on your upcoming band surgery!)
  14. Hello beautiful bandsters! I will be banded in 10 days and my thoughts have just been so preoccupied with this surgery coming up. One of the things that I cannot imagine is actually ONLY eating 3 times a day at some point. When I went to my preop appointment for my nutritionist on Tuesday, she told me that after a certain point, I should only be eating three times a day. IF that is true then I absolutely cannot wait!! Nothing would please me more than to be comfortable on eating three times a day! So, for people who are near or at their restriction, do you only eat three meals a day and are comfy and happy with that?
  15. Jachut, I think that is one of the BIG reasons I am doing so well on my preop diet. Yes, I have been getting bad hunger pangs. I have also been experiencing "bumps and rolls" inside my tummy when I am really hungry. But, I told my hubby the other day that this is a good lesson for me in knowing when I really AM hungry and not just craving things. Oddly, I don't have cravings on this liquid diet, just plain old hunger. I am handling it extremely well. But, I do have until July 6 until before midnight on July 7th to get to a breaking point, I guess. I have my eye set on the prize and I want to be one of the ones that have one to two incisions! So, that is one of my motivators there. Thank you all for posting your thoughts!
  16. Restless Monkey, That is fabulous. Right now I'm dealing with the tummy grumbles and pangs due to the preop diet, but I can't even express how wonderful this will be to be able to go hours without feeling hungry. I just simply cannot wait to get there.)
  17. I love stories like this. This is exactly where I want to be. It would be so liberating to only need/want 3 meals a day. I so hope to be there one day soon!)
  18. How rude and from church too. I think I would have said,"Well, we were watching TAles from the Crypt last night and my gosh, YOU look just like the cryptkeeper, Amazing( and shaking head in amazement). And then, I would have said it again the next time I saw her )

    Pre-Op Diet?

Slpcat, How many days are you in? This is my second day. Feeling a little better. I took two Tylenol last night when I had my headache. It got rid of it. Oddly, I just cooked some dinner for my hubby and son and I did rather well. You are definitely right though, about having the band as motivation; otherwise,I would never make it through. It's helping me though to just go a day at a time and not think about the rest of the week and how much longer I have to go. I will say though, almost 2 down and 8 more to go lol :smile2: I also feel if I can make it through this and the following few weeks after the band, I can pretty much handle anything else that comes my way. We will be successful!!
  20. Yesterday was the first day for me, and in the beginning I was fine, but by the end of the night I was STARVING LOL This is a breakdown of what I can have: Breakfast: SF carnation instant Breakfast 1 light yopliat yogurt any flavor. A.m. Snack: Atkins Advantage shake (any flavor) Lunch: Cambell's Soup at Hand-Classic Tomato SF jell-o chocolate swirl pudding SF Jell-o Gelatin (any flavor) PM snack: 8 oz V8 Dinner: 1/2 c low fat cottage cheese 1 C creamed (strained) soup Regular popsicle Bedtime snack No Sugar added fudgesicle This was the sample menu, but I have been following that. I can't go over more than 150 carbs per day and 50 to 60 grams of Protein a day. My hubby hid my scale this morning LOL I told him last night I wanted to weigh the morning of my surgery. I'd LOVE to have a salad by the end of the day :smile2:) We will make it though! It will be worth it. I keep thinking about possibly having only one or two incisions! That's my motivation!
  21. Hi lovelies!! I was just wondering if anyone else is scheduled to be banded on July 7th? I got my surgery date and this is what they gave me! So, preop diet here I come, which will be started on Saturday June 27th!) Take care, Paulette

    Pre-Op Diet?

I started my preop diet today, which consists of no more than 130 to 150 carbs per day, 50 to 60 grams of Protein and this is done with mainly fluids. I can have unlimited SF Kool-Aid, Diet Snapple, Diet sodas, sf popsicles, SF Jello, broths and Soups (strained). I have a headache right now and I feel just a little shaky, but I will prevail. ) How is everyone else doing so far?
  24. Okay, I work nights, 7 pm to 3 a.m. or later sometimes. My preop liquid diet starts the 27th. So, would you start it directly at midnight OR would you start it after you go to bed and then wake up? Might be a dumb question, but I was curious.)
  25. You have a great point. I think I will start it when I get up in the a.m.)
