  1. I was instructed to take off both. However, the day before I started my time of the month. The nurse gave me a mesh pair of underwear and a pad to wear.
  2. weight loss this week: 7 pounds I am so excited! Today I hit 50 pounds lost forever!

    Anyone Afraid?

I felt exactly the same. Prayer helped calm me down a lot as well as a post on another thread. She said to remind yourself this is just another day for your surgeon. He/she has done probably thousands by now. It is no big deal to them so we shouldn't let it get to us so bad. Anyway, I hope it gets better for you all.
  4. I was on a 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery and I am so proud to say I followed it quite strictly. I am so glad I did because it helped me to begin changing my outlook on food. If you have strayed, I encourage yu to get right back on the course and don't look back. It is difficult, I know, but not only our bodies need to make transformations but our minds as well.

    8/5 Banding

I was banded on the fifth as well. There have been times, honestly, that I thought to myself, "what the heck did I do?" I am active and have done housework since Thursday but I couldn't help worrying that the gas pain would never go away. I still get dizzy in the shower every day but it is getting better. It has been a struggle at times to get in all the water and protein but I am doing it. All in all, still happy I did the surgery.

    Gas, Gas and more Gas

Anybody else finding it difficult to get in 64 oz of water and 65 g of protein post op? I am getting it in but it is all I can do. It is almost painful.

Seriously... when does the gas pain and pressure stop?

    Bandages?

I was banded on Tuesday and released Wednesday. I was told to take the bandages off Thursday to shower and put bandages back on the big incision. I have been putting smaller band aids on the little incisions but was told didn't have to. The staples freak me out. Hope this helps.

    I'm Official I Have a Band!

I became a citizen of Bandland today as well. Feels good to get it over with. It will be tomorrow before I go home but it's for the best since I have a 4 hour ride home. I am not looking forward to that one. Anyway, congrats to you and all the other 5thsters.

    It's Aug 5th for me

My surgery was at about 12:30. I'm staying overnight. It really wasn't as bad as I thought. I just feel like I've done about 5000 setups. I've walked a little bit. I got a wee bit dizzy though. Hope everyone else made it through without complications.

    Anyone else freaking out??

Oh you are so right! I took my kids shopping for school clothes at JCPenney's on Saturday and, as I walked through the women's department, I was overwhelmed with joy as I looked through the sea of choices that will be available. I am so ready to say good-bye to Lane Bryant and tell them where to put their $50 gift cheques! I'm starting to feel calmer now. Hopefully I can stay this calm until tomorrow.

    Anyone else freaking out??

I didn't think it would happen, but I am really starting to panic and have anxiety issues. My surgery is Tuesday morning and my head won't stop churning all the "what-ifs". How do I calm down?
  17. Pre surgery I am supposed to get in 100 g of protein a day and post surgery 65 g for women and 80 g for men. Protein is used to grow your hair and it builds muscles not only in your arms and legs, but those important muscles around your heart as well. If we do not get enough protein, the body will cut supply from the least important in order to maintain most important. This can lead to hair loss and other issues from not nurishing our bodies.

    Makeup During Procedure?

lol... I almost freaked yesterday when they told me no make up at my pre op class. When I went into labor with each of my 3 sons, I still took a shower and put on make up so I would look good. The nurse told me she knows how I feel and that maybe a little blush wouldn't hurt and just don't wash off mascara from night before so I still have a little bit left over. No polish on fingers or toes at all. The gel and hairspray to fix your hair is ok though.

Good luck to all the AUGUST bandsters!

Since you exercise, I was wondering if that helps with the excess skin. Has it been a problem for you?

Good luck to all the AUGUST bandsters!

WOW!!! Congratulations on your success Candle! That is just too amazing. Less than 2 weeks out, I find my mind is occasionally trying to talk me out of the surgery. I have to focus and remind myself that I need this to make a change in my life. Reading your success story really motivates me to go on. Is there anything you would change?

    It's Aug 5th for me

I'm August 5th as well. I started my pre-op diet today. I swear I've lost 5 pounds just today. I was in my bathroom this morning and was trying to get some clothes off the floor. I scooted the scales over with my foot and it hit the stool. The scales shattered into millions of pieces. Must be some kinda omen for the first day of the diet don't ya think? UGH!!!

    Let's Get This Party Started!

My date is August 5 and start pre-op liquid diet today. I couldn't hardly sleep last night I was so nervous about it. I've been working towards this surgery since mid-February and wanted to lose 20 pounds on my own prior. I did that but gained 4 back when I had my fairwell to food splurge for an entire week. I'm hoping to lose the 4 and then another 10 on pre-op. I'm a mom to 3 awesome boys ages 11, 6, and 3. I've told them from the day I went to seminar about the surgery. Actually I've told almost everyone I know and everyone is excited for me. Anyway, I'm gonna go make a carnation instant Breakfast... I know ya'll are jealous.

    August Schedule

I'm August 5 and from Seneca, MO
  24. So I guess I'm an August All Star as well. I turned 30 this March and it really did a number to me. I realized I was never happy with myself in my 20s and I'll never get that back. So... here I am. I started my journey March 1 and I've finally got my date for August 5 in Columbia, MO. I've lost 20 pounds on my own and will be on the 2 week liquid diet prior. I started out a size 24 and down to a 22. I'm not sure of my goal weight but my goal size is about a 12. I'm 5'10" so I don't need to be super skinny. I've been reading post after post on this site for weeks. I'm so amazed at the progress many have had. Oddly I feel like I know many people on here in a weird stalkish kinda way (totally a joke, I'm not a stalker) . I can't wait for it to be our turn to start posting before and after pics. By the way, remember to take all kinds of photos during your journey. I'm planning on doing a monthly photo shoot for my brag book. For those of you going on cruises, I'm quite jealous. I have to go on a business trip for 4 days DURING my liquid diet. I'm going to be a bear. Tonight I have been packing for a weekend trip to Branson. I'll just pretend it's a cruise or some place exotic. Good luck to everybody.
