To weigh or not to wiegh?

LOL!!! I do the same thing!
  3. A very skinny friend at church knew I was going to have the surgery. A month after the surgery (when I had already lost over 50 pounds with pre-op and post-op) she asked if I had it done yet. I said, "Yes about a month ago." She replied, "Oh when will it start working?" If I hadn't been in church I would have lit into her.

    5K anyone?

When I saw you all posting to this I really wanted to join but felt I had to work up to doing anything like this. I have been doing 45 min sessions of step aerobics 2 times a week and walking a mile 3 times a week. I have been doing this routine for a month. So this morning I decided to just get out there and do it. I went to the track and walked/jogged 2 miles. It felt great! I just wish I had someone to keep me accountable. Anybody want an online workout partner?

    Friday Weigh In - 4 NOV 08

This was a tough week. Thanks to another thread, I realized I was feeling so restricted because it was my TOM. But even though I couldn't eat much, I wasn't losing anything at all and it was beginning to crawl up. I was sure I was going to have to report a gain this week. When I stepped on the scales this morning to realize I have lost a pound from last week, I screamed for joy. I have never been so happy to have lost just one pound.

    Very tight at TOM

Oh my goodness! I didn't even think to blame my tightness on my TOM. For 2 days I have been getting stuck on EVERYTHING!! I was wondering what was going on. Just so happened I started yesterday as well. I haven't been able to eat very much and still not losing. This has been a very frustrating few days. At least I know the reason and it WILL go away. Thank you for posting this!

    Irritated

AMEN!!! I somewhat expected the seminar to be a cheerleading session for the surgery. I knew they wanted to get as many people excited about the hundred pound loss. What I didn't expect was to have my pre-op class about dos and don'ts to be with the bypass patients as well. I was told my stomach would be able to hold only half a cup and a few tablespoons would make me full in the beginning. I would lose a lot of weight the first month. I felt tremendously guilty when I was still hungry after a few bites during the mushy stage. I upped it to half a cup and still hungry. The first week after surgery I lost about a pound a day but, once I hit the foods, it all stopped like a brick wall. I was getting about 750 calories daily and excersizing 5 days a week and still losing nothing. I finally followed suggestions from here and got out of starvation mode and ate more. The weight slowly started coming off. I lost no where near 30 pounds in the first month. The only thing that helped me keep my sanity was gauging my weight-loss to others that had the surgery around the same time. I was not told that drinking Water after something got stuck would HURT! I was not even really told getting stuck would hurt. I was not told about my band. When I went for my first fill is when they told me I have the APL. That meant nothing to me. I just read a post yesterday about the APL doesn't have as good of track-record as the APS and the APL is for larger patients. What the heck???!!!! My BMI was under 40 when I got the surgery done. So yes, I am equally frustrated with the lack of education. LBT has been a life-saver. I didn't know what to ask and I thought I was quite educated on the subject. I am still thrilled with my band and have no regrets.

    OTC meds question

I have a cold and should have thought to call Dr. office before the weekend. Seems I only need a Dr. on the weekends. Anyway, I went to Wal-Mart to buy some cough and cold medicine. My question is are we able to take any OTC meds besides the anti-inflammatory meds? And if so, do we take normal doses?

How much so far - total?

I went in for my seminar March 1. I was a size 24. I slowly lost 40 pounds before surgery on August 5. Since surgery I have lost 23 pounds for a total of 63 pounds and in a size 18.

    A Great Feeling!

For 8 years or more, I have been at least a size 20. Everytime I went up a size I was kicking myself for letting it happen. I got up to a size 24. That is when I decided to have the surgery. Since the surgery I have not been shopping as I have been a bit scared. Some friends finally convinced me to go as all my pants are falling off me. We went to NBC because I do not want to pay a lot for clothes I won't be wearing long. When I walked in, I saw the cutest pair of Ralph Lauren jeans with embellishments. I looked at the size and they were an 18. I grabbed them thinking there was no way I could get into them yet but hopefully soon. I continued shopping picking up several pair of size 20 pants. I finally went to the dressing room and, just for kicks, tried on the cute jeans first. When they zipped up no problem, I didn't know whether to scream or cry for joy. I went out to the store looking for my friends. The other people thought I was nuts when I was saying loudly, "they are a size 18!" I then had a sobering thought. What if they are just made big? So I went back and tried on size 20. They were too big! I did another little happy dance in the dressing room.

    A Great Feeling!

Last week I had another WOOHOO moment. I had to go to Reno for a conference. This was my first time flying since beginning to lose weight. The last time I flew I had to have a seatbelt extender. I was kinda holding my breath, being both nervous and excited, to see if I wouldn't need one this time. When I put it on without the extender I was so excited then, when I pulled it about 5 inches to tighten it, I was about to come out of my seat I was so happy. My coworker just laughed at me for getting so excited but it was a huge deal for me.

    Fill mistakes

When I get a fill, the doctor draws out all the fluid to make sure there is no leakage then puts it all back in plus the fill amount. This gives me peace of mind that there are no leaks and they got the port.

Friday Weigh In Oct. 17, 2008

I am up 2 pounds this week. I spent the week in Reno for a tax conference and spent a lot of time sitting on my rear and eating catered food. The late nights partying probably didn't help too much either. I am so glad I have a fill tomorrow morning. Congratulations to everyone for some great losses!

    What won't you miss?

I saw this in another thread a while back and thought it was hilarious and had some great ideas. So, what won't you miss when you lose the weight? My list includes: * Shopping at only Lane Bryant * My knees hurting * Asking for a seatbelt extender on a plane * Wearing an all black swimsuit with a skirt on it to try to hide as much as possible * Avoiding sleeveless shirts * Being tired at about 2 pm on an all-day family outing Any other ideas?

Friday morning weigh in...10 oct 08

I am down another 2 pounds this week. I hit a total of over 60 pounds lost (40 pre-surgery 21 post surgery). Yay! I am feeling great. I am so diggin being able to cross my legs without having to pull my leg up by the ankle and actually crossing like a lady.

    What won't you miss?

I forgot to add that I won't miss lying about my weight on my driver's license. I am about 13 pounds over what I have had on my license for years. At one point I was nearly 75 pounds over what the license had.

Friday morning weigh in...19 sep 08

I haven't reported back in a few weeks because my scales would just not budge. I had my first fill this Monday though and, largely due to liquids for 2 days, I am down 6.5 pounds since last weigh in. This is a total of 56.5 pounds gone forever!

    Friday Weigh Ins - 29th August 08

For the second week in a row, I have to say no weight loss. At least I'm not gaining. Sometimes I think my scales are broken so I put my kids on it but they are correct. Can't wait for fill Sept 15!

    Still hungry and no restrictions

Thank you SO much for this post! The clinic where I went has been great about most things but I must say this is one thing they failed to discuss. I think it was mostly due to the fact that they do mostly bypasses instead of the band. In all my literature from them they state to eat no more than half a cup. The last few days I have been thinking I did something horribly wrong because I want way more than half a cup. I have never overdone it but I felt tremendous guilt for eating a full cup of food and still not be full! I was also feeling guilty because every day friends and family ask how much I have lost. I hate telling them absolutely nothing for almost 2 weeks. Anyway, thanks for letting me know I am normal (at least concerning the band).
  25. I haven't lost 1 stinkin' pound since last Friday. I have not eaten more than a cup a meal, no snacking, less than 1000 calories a day, and did Turbo Jam videos 5 of the 7 days. I didn't expect to hit a plateau so quickly. I'm frustrated but not giving up.
