  1. Thank you for that insight, my surgery date was 09.27, however maintaining the liquids are very hard as I always feel full after a few sips, I know I’m dehydrated as my urine had changed color ( sorry TMI ) however I’m just unsure is that normal to be dehydrated even though you can barely get any liquids down? And if I force it I feel bloated.

Hello all! I just found these forums and I'm so glad I did. Just had my gastric bypass on Tuesday!!!! Hoping to find good support here, nobody irl has a clue what we go thru!

Same, welcome! Everyone has been so nice and welcoming with great advice… got mines done on Monday… looks like we’re in the same stages…. You got this!

Surgery was 9/21 and I has gas pains for a solid 5 days. I kept up on the Gas-X every few hours, walking, sitting/sleeping upright (no laying flat), and drinking as much Water as I could manage. A heating pad can help too. Eventually it worked its way out, but it does take time. If its really bad, you can take Tylenol or whatever pain meds the surgeon gave you. Like @lizonaplane said, it might also be pain from drinking. Make sure you are dinking slow, taking small sips, avoiding swallowing air, and so on. I've noticed my "fullness" queue seems to feel an awful lot like gas pain right in my chest. Its tricky getting to know the new plumbing, it just takes time.

Thank you so much for the tips, I will definitely take another gas x right now, I’m hoping for a quick release of the gas within the next few days, that’s the most uncomfortable part

  4. Thanks This was very helpful, I don’t naturally burp or pass gas to often do I’m trying to figure the best way for it to be released lol. I appreciate the great tips I am taking a gas x now.

For me it took just a few days to get rid of the gas pain in my shoulder, but when I would sip too big a sip, I had similar pain, and I had a lot of passing gas for the first two weeks. At first this hurt.

Thank you for the insight, I will be sure to keep an eye out for the sipping sizes
