    Confession!

Unfortunately you are HIS patient. And that makes it ethically (and legally) wrong. No matter what. As your medical care provider, he is in a position of power and he is in a position to know things about you that you would never tell anyone else. There is a serious power differential and that makes the doctor/patient to doctor/girlfriend transition taboo. But harmless flirting sounds like fun . . . . . . as long as it stays that way.

    Singles: What size for dating?

I dated a bit before weight loss, but there was a lot of anxiety involved on my side. At about size 18, I put myself out there (eharmony). I'm a size 14 now and feel comfortable dating. I've had some nice dates, but there's no one special yet. I have noticed that I get a lot more attention from men than I used to. It's gratifying, but it also lowers my opinion of men a bit. I'm still the same person, just a bit smaller. Any of the other single girls out there feeling conflicted about getting more attention from men?

Does the weight loss increase your sex drive?

I went for a couple of years, single and without sex. (I know, it was a serious dry spell, but I was in grad school . . . .). :smile2: However, since my weight loss, my sex drive has rebounded and I miss sex like never before. I think it has a lot to do with my body image and my confidence. My two cents, anyway.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

So, I've gotten started on the first week! I've told a couple of friends and they are excited about getting started, too. I feel so inspired. Thanks for all the encouragement.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I was just about to start a thread about the C25K. I'm so excited to get started. Is anyone else out there about to start the program? I think I need a bit of moral support here. I've always HATED running/jogging, but it seems like the logical next step on my fitness journey. I started with water aerobics, then started weights, moved to elliptical and then added rowing, and now I think I'm ready to jog. Wish me luck!

How did you pick your goal weight?

Having started at a size 24W, I thought that a goal of size 14 would be perfect. It seemed unattainable at the time. However, I'm down 100 lb and am size 14 and I'm still not done with the weight loss. Maybe I should be a bit more organized about it, but I'm just going with the flow and seeing where I stop. I've not been a size 14 since I was 11 years old, so I'm pretty happy with my current situation. But I still keep loosing slowly, so I'm just excited to see where I end up.

I'm done telling people about lap-band

I'm actually in the surgical profession and I haven't told ANYONE that I had a band. I agree with the previous poster who said that "what I do with my own body is my own business." This is a very personal choice and a very personal journey. You have to make the decision based on good information and a lot of soul searching. With ANY surgery, there is a risk of death or morbidity. The risks of the Lap Band are less that those of a gastric bypass, but they are real. When you decide to have this surgery, you decide that the risk of remaining obese is greater than the risks if the surgery. Of course, this is only one opinion . . . . . . .

How often do you weigh in?

I weight myself first thing every morning. But, I only record my weight on my calendar once a week (on Sundays). The daily weigh-in keeps me focused and a bit more honest.
  9. I've told a few close friends and my family. I work in the surgical profession and I just don't want to hear all the advice and feel like I'm under the microscope with my co-workers. I see this as intensely private, it's something I'm doing for myself and it's really no one's business but mine.
  10. So, the first thing I'm going to say is very "tough love." If you aren't losing weight, that means you are probably eating too much and/or not exercising enough. Remember that as you lose weight, you require even less "fuel" to keep your smaller body going. That said, there are also other things that might be going on. 1. Weight gain can be the only/first sign of band slippage. You should talk to your doctor about that possibility. He/she can order a simple chest x-ray to check the angle of the band, 2. Have you had your thyroid hormone levels checked? 3. Your doctor might have other recommendations. You should definitely check with him/her. Do you need another fill? Do you need to spend more time with a dietitian or counselor? Best of luck!
  11. I was banded 5.23.08 and I think that I've just FINALLY found my first real "sweet spot." I've lost very slowly over the past 6 months, but all of a sudden it is just so, so easy to eat the right amount and I don't really get craving/hungry/anxious like I used to. My doctor has gone slowly with the fills (I've had 5) and I've just kept the faith that I did the right thing in getting this surgery. The biggest change for me is that all of a sudden, I'm full after a small amount of food. I'm having to get used to throwing food away and walking away from the table. Just keep the faith, that's all the advice I can give. Oh, and get to the gym and work on building muscle!

    EffexorXR 150mg

For the first 2 months, I had to switch over to taking the immediate release form of the drug twice a day - crushed up in applesauce (yuck!). Now, however, I take the Effexor extended release tablet. The tablet is pretty small (just a little bigger than a baby aspirin). I couldn't use the generic because the XR pill is WAY too big. Good luck!
  13. I have a VERY active job (walking, stairs, bending) and I went back after 8 days. It was about right for me. After 4 days, I was no longer taking pain meds during the day - only at night. Good luck
