Hi! I'm Julie and TOTALLY new to this! I am currently lined up to have the gastric sleeve procedure within the next few months if everything lines up correctly. I have a question, did anyone have to be evaluated/treated by Physical Therapy before their procedure? I am being told it is a requirement for my insurance to cover. Just confused! Thanks!

Yes, I had to have a Fitness Evaluation; required by insurance, but also I suspect, a way to encourage joining the fitness center adjacent to the bariatric practice. Not much to it, got weighed and measured; talked about realistic goals. Checked heart rate pre and post 1 minute on the treadmill. Also found out I get a free gym membership for three months post surgery so that’s cool.
