I think the most important ones to see right now are the OB for a blood test and then your nutritionist if you are indeed pregnant. But it’s best to find out asap so that you can speak to your nutritionist and learn what changes you would need to make to your diet right away. Don’t worry about telling the surgeon though, if they are rude who cares. It’s not like you did this on purpose. You were told by another doctor that you were fine. Stuff happens.

Thank you for that im going to reach out to my OB now.

  2. Okay so I had surgery in august 2021 and just had my iud taken out last month due to weird and irregular bleeding. My ob said if I was to fall pregnant it would be 6-9 months from now due to hormones balancing out. My period is a week late and took a pregnancy test and it’s positive .. the line is kinda faint so idk for sure but my weight also seems to have stabilized ?? I haven’t lost any weight since February im fluctuating between 180-183 weekly but that’s it. I’ve seen horror stories where people have been pregnant and their surgeon was rude about it because they weren’t a year out yet. I’m kinda afraid to tell them.. help

(2018) I was around 211 when I got pregnant and delivered at 240. I still had elevated blood pressure throughout my pregnancy. I also did have gestional diabetes so I was induced at 37 weeks & 3days. With my second(2020) I was 220 when I got pregnant and delivered at 240 again. He is now 14 months and I'm 139lbs. So it did take me a lot longer to loose the weight, but I was only 22 when I got the surgery. I don't regret taking longer to loose the weight.

Oh wow god bless you !

It sounds like you're tracking your food. I'm at 5 months out at I'm eating between 800-1200 calories a day, and still losing weight, but not every day. Maybe try going up to 1200 for a day every few days? Sometimes that can "shock" your system into more weight loss, but not sure if that really works.

Also, working out isn't really for weight loss; it's for general health and also to reduce muscle loss. it's also good to help keep weight from coming back. You don't have to do too much, but it's good to do something most days of the week.

Finally, the closer you are to a "healthy" weight, the harder weight loss gets.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much my doctor says I should be working up to eat in the 1000-1200 calorie range but it’s kind of hard for me to eat that much still. It’s either I eat and don’t get enough fluids or get the fluids and not enough food. I also still don’t eat many of the food I cut out like starch and breads and Snacks

I'm pregnant at the moment and I'm only 5 or 6 weeks I just found out last night

Congrats! I ended up not being pregnant but how is it going for you if you don’t mind me asking? When I informed my surgeon they treated me like a child and told me it was irresponsible and that I need to wait until I’m 18 months out from surgery to be pregnant

  6. Hey it’s me back with questions lol.

im at my 6 month mark. I went from 253 before surgery to 184 but I’m at 190 for the last week with no budge or change. I’m not sure if I’m not eating enough or eating too much. I eat around 800-900 calories a day some days a little over 900

i stopped working out because I wasn’t seeing a difference but idk . My goal was 180 and I was so close but I’m back up 6 pounds and it won’t go away. Any advice ?

To break a stall you may have to heat MORE. It's counter-intuitive, but your metabolism may have gone into "starvation mode" hanging on to as much as possible.

You may still lose inches during a stall and your body will eventually catch up. To speed up the process, try increasing your daily calorie consumption to 1000-1200 for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Thank you, I’ve been scared to eat more in fear of gaining weight but I will try it !

weight loss slows down a lot the further you go. Are you still following your program to a "T"? Measuring and logging your food? I didn't quit losing until I was 20 months out, but it was slow going after the first few months..

Yes I been following and earring 800 calories a day sometimes less because I don’t eat much I get full so fast. The only thing I’ve been struggling with a lot is Water, my stomach hurts after a few sips

  9. Hey so I had surgery august 5th this year and I lost about 50 pounds but I can’t get under 200 pounds. I know it may not be a big deal as I know and have mentioned this to people who are trying to get to 200 but I was 250 and counting and now that I’m at 200 I feel like I’m at a stand still and can’t go under 200. I work out, I opt to take the stairs instead of my elevator if I’m not carrying anything heavy, I drink maybe one Protein Shake a day instead of two now because I’ve been trying to eat actual food (for a while I wouldn’t eat more than a few bites) and it’s like nothing is working. Any tips?

There are some foods that you used to love that your stomach is going to hate now. I loved pizza and bread, for at least two years after my surgery, I couldn't eat either. The Tomato in the sauce (even ketchup) was too acidic and made my stomach upset. bread, literally all types of bread would sit too heavy in my stomach and made me feel like there was just a ball stuck in there.

The Pasta was another "ehh" food for me. I couldn't eat regular Pasta like spaghetti without the same feeling in my stomach that I got from bread, sometimes I still feel this way. But tortellini and ravioli were fine (I think because of the cheese).

I think trying the individual parts first is what is going to help the most. And try to find alternatives for your cravings. Instead of pizza, I had cheese sticks and pepperoni slices. I could heat the cheese up in a pan and put the pepperoni over it so that it would cook too. For bread, I didn't (and still don't) really miss it. Flatbreads such as naan and pita sit better in my stomach so if I do need bread for something, I choose that.

Hey, I’ve actually had Tomato Soup for most of my liquid diet and even sometimes now and my stomach has been fine so I might be okay with Tomato sauce idk I’m scared to try anything tbh. I was thinking of Naan, or gluten free bread but gluten free may have the same affect as regular bread. I have found alts to all of the foods I used to love it’s just I don’t know how im going to eat lol. I been eating a bit and getting full after two bites to which my family is like wth lol. But I will definetley work my way up to pizza. I really want to try cauliflower pizza but the only one I could find is this frozen one at target or if I make it at home and let me tell you .. I am no chef lol

I kept very closely to the plan I was given & the recommendations from my dietician & surgeon. They knew what they’re talking about. Your plan would advise when you can start to try to include certain foods in your diet as your tummy can’t digest some things to begin - too coarse, too fibrous, too dense, too rich, etc. When you’re able to eat solid foods again it’s not a free for all. You need to be careful not to stress & strain your tummy & digestion. It will be sensitive & as you’re discovering may not tolerate some things you used to enjoy. (It does improve but it takes time.)

We’re advised to avoid nutrient poor Pasta, rice & bread because they tend to swell in your tiny tummy & fill you up so you’re unable to eat the Protein & other nutrients you really need. Remember you physically are only able to eat small portions if anything. There are pretty good alternatives about. A lot of people swear by a ricotta bake which reminds people of pizza or in time you could try pizza made with a cauliflower rice or a shredded chicken base. Try zucchini noodles instead of Pasta. You will be able to eat salads in a little while.

Some people will say they ate bread, rice, pasta, etc. without issue at some point while they were losing. Some successfully with careful Portion Control incorporate these things & foods like pizza occasionally in maintenance. Personally, I decided that the weight loses phase was the perfect opportunity to change the way I ate & what I ate & I still stay away from lots of foods - I realised they were danger foods for me. But ultimately, it’s your decision. You have to do what works for you.

    Good luck.

Thank you so much for this. I’ve been planning to try alternatives like cauliflower pizza and vegan burgers because I’ve ate it before and loved it. I just never knew anybody else whose had a sleeve or any bariatric surgery and I know the nurse they sent to my home does not know what she is talking about. I was never big on rice or pasta unless it was gnocchi. I reallly appreciate this

  12. Okay so I’m transitioning to regular diet in about three weeks and I was wondering if anyone has tried foods they would normally eat? Like Pasta , pizza, salads, etc. my nurse said I should be fine to eat it but I’m the booklet my nutritionist gave me it said to avoid these things. I’m just nervous, I’m eating soft food and my stomach already doesn’t like much so I don’t wanna try anything I shouldn’t have but I have been craving pizza lmfao

  13. Hey I made this account bevause I been snooping around to see if anyone has been experiencing what I’m experiencing. I since decided to make an account because I am about 2 weeks post op and today I noticed that the largest incision looks a little open. Idk if I moved to much and broke it or if it was scabbed and pealed off in my sleep. I panicked and put a bandaid over that piece and contacted my home nurse but I doubt I’ll get a response on the weekend. It’s not leaky or anything but the bandaid did have a little bit of blood not like a lot but enough to leave a dot on the bandaid. Should I be worried?
