  1. Hi! We use both.. we use cloth when we are at home and disposable when we go out.. we got the brand 'motherease' and LOVE them.. they have a one size fits all size with multiple snaps and they have grown right along with our growing daughter.. they also have a leak proof cloth cover instead of the plastic ones.. they are so easy to use.. snap just like you are putting on a disposable.. we wanted to use cloth for the enviroment and also for the cost cutting.. but didnt want to carry around a dirty cloth diaper when we are out.. :Dancing_biggrin:
  2. ya I was banded there on the 25th of July and have had a good expierence with them. :Dancing_biggrin:
  3. I was the same but allowed to move to reg foods cause I was breast feeding my daughter.. my weightloss has slowed as well.. but its like 1-2 lbs per week.. I had surgery 7-25. I just keep watching my portions and I get my first fill on this friday. I guess just keep an eye on how often and how much you eat and your body will adjust. its hard to loose a lot fast and then slow way down.. I know... hang in there
  4. I drink decaf coffee or espesso... or caffinated coffee or espresso.. it helps me go at least once a day.
  5. wow it seems like I could have been telling your story.. I too have a devoted amazing husband who in those moments is pleading with me to believe in myself and just be what he sees.. beauty.. thanks for sharing.. its so important that we love oursel:wink2:ves
  6. you can do what you want,, I pumped a 24hr supply and then my baby who was 11months took it from a bottle for the 24hrs after.. my lactation consultant looked up all the info on the anes. I was given and she recommended 24hrs after. it wasnt a big deal and I just resumed nursing her the next morning.. as far as puming and dumping.. I thought I would have to do it a lot but since she was 11 months and already eating other foods I just waited till I was full and pumped once and it was done.. for me it was good to have the 24hours not to have to nurse and I didnt want to be worried about what "could" happen.. so many people are allergic to anes.. I didnt want to push it..to have one more thing to think about while trying to heal the first 24 hours.. so to me it was definately worth it to wait. besides its not like she was 4 months and completely dependant on my milk.. the anesthesiologist told me 72 hours.. I laughed...
  7. I just read the last line of your post and I would definately say its a tooth.. because it hurts when you get extra pressure in your head when you bend over and the blood rushes there.
  8. being a person that has had a lot of tooth issues I would say it is a tooth problem.. sometimes you can have an absess that you are unaware of that causes lots of pressure..just a suggestion.. cause it sounds kinda weird that it would be gas there.. you may want to have it checked out. if it is a tooth it would be bothering you when you wake up because of the balance change and the pressure change in your head from the blood replacing itself and after u eat because of the pressure of chewing.. or when you move a lot just a thought
  9. yes i had terrible gas for about a week.. walking and drinking hot liquids helped me. hang in there it will get better soon!
  10. I know everyone gives you advice when you are sick and pregnant.. I too threw up everyday for 7 months,, just something that helped me was watermelon and freezy pops.. you know the tubes of sugary liquid that freeze.. you may want to give it a try.. it was kinda solid but has a lot of liquid.. tricked my stomach.. oh and I used the sea sickness bands that u put around your wrists.. after meds and everything else they were the only thing that helped me.. good luck.. I know it sucks!!!
  11. my doctor does them while you stand in front of the fluorscopy machine.
  12. Hey All.. I went in for my first fill today and left without one! :blink:I did the barium swallow and was telling the doctor that I am still feeling some restriction and I feel tired all the time (I am BFeeding my little one) and he said he wasnt going to give me a fill and that I needed to go get some bloodwork done because I may be anemic or not getting enough protein. he said I looked more pale than he would like.. NICE! I take a pre-natal vitamin so I cant imagine I am low in iron. thankfully I am not starving all the time yet.. notice I said yet. he said with my swallow that things were still going pretty slow.. and to come back if 1/2 to 3/4 stops making me feel full. Maybe I will see him in a week who knows?:tt2: I have to admidt that I was a little nervous that he was gonna fill me and I wasnt going to be able to get the nutrients I need and be even more tired. I have to admidt I was choking down protien water before I got there because I was so nervous!!
  13. try just taking liquid tylenol. I took it with codine for the first 3 days and then liquid tylenol for like a week after that.. it seemed to help.
  14. Dont worry. it was all tolerable. :biggrin2: I was uncomfortable for a week and then it was over and I feel great! one week out of my life is not too bad! It was nothing compared to 7 months of morning sickness!! haha I dont regret one second of this and you wont either.. remember everyone is so different and everyone react to it differently.. there are lots of people who never have the gas pains at all.. its good to know its a possibility though.. if you get them you just walk them out.. dont freak yourself out about everything that 'could' happen.. there is a large chance it wont.. just take it one day at a time and after the surgery one hour at a time and you will do great!:biggrin2:
  15. I have heard dr, ortiz is the best as well.. I met someone on this forum that went dr. ortiz and was very impressed.. I just worry about the after care though.. here in the states you can have YOUR doc there if something goes wrong after..
  16. usually its one to two pounds a week once you are tightened to your "sweet spot" meaning tightened the perfect amount for you to lose 1-2 lbs a week.. from what I understand it takes most people awhile and several fills to start seeing results like that. I think the 1st month after you may lose because of the crazy healing diet.. but you shouldnt expect to lose.. because your body is adjusting to the trama of surgery and having the band.. its fluctuating in water and trying to cope with the lower calories.. so at first your body maybe like what the heck and try to store your cals.. but after it will get used to it and with the fills you will start to lose.. I wish they educated people more on this before they get banded because it breaks my heart to see people weigh themselves everyday sometimes more than once a day and not see results immediately and then get discouraged.. its not going to happen over night.. its not a magic pill .. just a tool.. sometime it takes even a few months until you lose consistantly. I try not to weigh myself so much and just be active.. I actually dont know how much I lost but I am down a size and a half you will do great!!
  17. you guys are both lucky! I have a very high pain tolerance so the actually surgery site didnt bother me at all.. but the suffocating feeling of the gas pains made me miserable and I was so naseous I threw up several times!! :blink:I wished I could be the one to walk out with very little pain and side effects. but I was miserable for the first 48 hours and then slightly uncomfortable for the next 5 days!:tt1: I am however sooooo glad i got to go home because as bad as I felt.. I would rather feel bad in the comforts of my own home.. and now its all over anyways. its so interesting how everyones body reacts differently!:biggrin2:
  18. I try to find ways to stay busy.. my husband is in a med program and I stay at home with my 11month old and it is so tempting to stay home all day long.. but I have been trying to get into a routine.. walk to the library, walk to the park, walk to pick my husband up from the train.. walk to walgreens for a new toothbrush... you get my point :w00t: staying active keeps me out of the kitchen.. where I might otherwise be tempted to snack.. its been a hard 6 weeks and I dont even know where I am at weight wise since my scale stinks.. but I get my first fill friday.. and I am more excited about the weigh in than the fill cause i know I am dropping sizes.. I am into the pants I had before my pregnancy. hang in there!! I think the temptation is to focus so much on the band and what it should be doing and the food we can or cant have.. we need to just get out there be active and make good choices when it is time to eat and the weight will come off! I try to make it a point not to focus so much on my band.. but to get on with my life.
  19. thanks so much.. I went on Amazon and found one that had 88 reviews and still had 4 stars! and mostly the reviews talked about the acuracy of the weight.. I just needed something.. I dont weigh myself all the time but at least once a week and it was driving my nuts not to know where I am at.. I didnt want to wait the every 6 weeks or so to go to the docs to weigh in and I didnt want to buy another "piece" if you know what I mean.. so I cant wait for it to get here.. then maybe I can finally change my ticker!!
  20. Great advice!! its good for all of us to remember this.. thanks!
  21. I had it at 8am and was home by 130pm.. mine was done in a surgery center and not even a hospital.. I was also very glad to be home.. I couldnt wait to get out of there.
  22. ya my stomach is weaker in the morning too.. it always has been.. I just choose things that wont make me more nausous.. its different everyday.. sometimes I start with hot tea and that seems to help.. Oh ya and can anyone recommend a scale that doesnt suck? I have the weight watchers one and it is so unreliable. It was 10lbs off the docs last time I was weighed in.. I need a new reliable scale that isnt going to fluctuate by 5 lbs each time I weigh myself within 5 mins!!!! I try to get the same reading twice and it doesnt do it.. any suggestions??
  23. Hi I havent posted here in forever.. but I am a July bandster and I want in on the fun!!!!! so I have to say.. I have expierenced the restriction without the fill.. only 2 days ago I slightly tested the boundry and found I could eat a little more.. and today is the first day I have actually felt hungry more often.. I am also breast feeding though and my baby has been sick so nursing more often.. so that could be why.. I didnt really want the fill until today.. I get my first fill on friday. I have also been frusterated because I feel like no one at my docs is in my situation.. I am BF my 11month old.. and my doc and nutritionist both have not had someone in this situation.. so I am clueless to the amount of calories I need to be consuming and all. I get officially weighed in on friday and my pants are falling off.. so I wonder how I am doing.. I guess I am just nervous that with the fill I will not be able to get enough nutrients and feel exhausted all the time like I did in the beginning when I did feel the restriction. its great to see you all losing and hanging in there.. its cool because we are all about the same in out journey.. timing wise anyway.. :biggrin2:
  24. Hi I have to disagree with the nursing immediately after surgery thing.. I spoke with 2 different lactaction consultants and they recommended 24hrs after not to breastfeed.. it does depend on the type of anesthesia and the childs reaction may differ.. but the 24hrs is across the board and partly this is because you dont know how the child will react to even the little anesthesia that will come through your milk. so many people have allergies to them I wouldnt risk seeing how my baby would react to it.. what I did was I pumped at least a 24hr supply for my baby and when I tried to pump I didnt get much.. I thought I would need to pump all the time but it wasnt like it was when my baby was solely nursing.. so I just waited till I felt like they were full and then I got like 5 oz out to dump.. if you cant get any out with the pump if you wait long enough you will be full enough to get some out. I only ended up pumping like 2 maybe 3 times in the 24hrs after.. and I was quite relieved because I had bad gas pains and nursing and puming was the last thing I wanted to do!! 24 hours later I was happy to nurse my little one. and I guess I found the 24hr thing worth it because it gave me some time for just me to recooperate. instead of constantly looking to the needs of my little one.. (she was at the clinic the whole time with me and my husband on the day of the surgery and even walked the halls with me after :hurray:. ) and it gave me one less thing to worry about. the 24hrs wasnt so long to wait, easier than I imagined, and I didnt feel scared that something might happen to her.. the pain meds are fine.. they usually just give you tylenol with codine anyhow. I think the 2-4 hour thing is for gas anesthesia.. I just did a lot of reasearch (please no disrespect intended shinyhappymommy. I have a lot of respect for you because you helped me a lot before my surgery.. I was freakin out!!! just another opinion though :banghead:) with any advice you have to do what you feel is best.. your the mommy and its ultimately your decision. Also with the 10lb thing.. my husband is in med school and I planned my surgery on his 3 week break. My baby is like 24lbs and I did not lift her for at least the first week.. the second week I tried very hard not to lift her and by the 3rd I was lifting away.. the doc just told me that if I need to lift its better to sit down and do it from that position. I had no problems obeying the docs because I had a c-section and 4 weeks later ended up having surgery again because I didnt obey the docs and my incisions opened and I got a major infection that hospitalized me for 4 days.. so ya.. no telling me twice.. the other thing is your port will be sewn to your abs and you need time for the stiches to heal before you do anything major.. just so it says attached. I just made sure I had the hands around to help.. its difficult if you dont have someone around.. maybe you can hire someone? a college student perhaps?? just to be around when the other hands in your life cant be? also I agree with shinyhappymommy.. I have had no problems continuing to BF my little one.. it kinda helps you lose faster. well I hope shinyhappymommy and I have helped!
  25. I think it depends on you and you pregnancy.. everyone is different.. the important thing is getting enough nutrients to the baby.. I have heard that some people get totally unfilled while others stay filled. I was so sick with my first one that I cant imagine not getting a total unfill.. I was losing weight with my first and no band.
