    oh my aching head....ooOOOHHHHH

It could be a million things.... Your hormones are significantly changed with this surgery...the vast majority of female migraines are hormone related, so it could be due to hormones. (I crush up Excederine Migraine) and that kicks it. If you live in a crazy state...you may be having allergy or sinus migraines (just had one for 2 days). My doc recommended crushing up my allergy/sinus med. If you are in too much pain...call your doc and go get a shot to stop it. YOU HAVE OPTIONS... But you should talk to your doc after you consider what may be causing it. GOOD LUCK!!!!! K

    So Tired

Whew...am I glad I found this thread! I have been tired too. I have tried upping the Protein but what the poster said above about the dietician says...that's good, you're burning fat! That makes me happy to suck it up a little longer. :smile2: I am sleeping soooo much better and longer since I had the surgery too. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!!!

Scared about band and self pay

Do your homework like above posters suggest. Self pay is worth it...within 48 hours after my surgery, my hormones were normal!! No more hormone replacement, no more stupid docs trying to fix a hormone imbalance with freakin antidepressants... :smile2: You will find your peace! GOOD LUCK!!

Scared about band and self pay

interesting how some docs charge you extra if they find a hernia...mind fixes them for free...since he's already in there. also...I asked my doc abour erosion and he said the significant vast majority of erosion is because the patient did not follow the guidelines given to them.

    Already Noticing Hormone Changes!!! YEAH!

Minxz... The two main things I have heard for helping thinning hair...is Biotin (my doc and his staff even recommend it). Biotin is one of eight essential Vitamins that comprise the B-complex. Biotin used for Hair Growth. Biotin works with other B vitamins to make healthy cells and convert carbohydrates, fats, and Proteins into energy. Biotin is also known as the Vitamin that produces healthy hair and helps prevent graying. Biotin is a widely used ingredient in hair products due to its hair promoting properties. Biotin increases hair cortex elasticity , prevents breakage, and thickens hair cuticle. A condition called seborrhea dermatitis, or cradle cap, which is characterized by a dry, scaly scalp, may occur as a result of biotin deficiency. Biotin plays a vital role in the production of energy from the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats. It may support the health of nails and offer treatment for brittle nails. Biotin also promotes healthy hair, skin, sweat glands, nerve tissue, bone marrow, and male sex glands. Biotin is in most multis but you can get it by intself and supplement. Others on this site swear that thinning hair can be tied to not enough Protein. GOOD LUCK!!!! Karen

    Already Noticing Hormone Changes!!! YEAH!

Hey Sun... I didn't respond until today because I wanted to watch the hair to give you a real answer..lol..I am 21 days out and have noticed a few things about that lovely extra PCOS hair...it's lighter in color, it's softer (not as coarse), and it's not growing as fast. WHOOP! Karen

    Headaches

Hello fellow migraine sufferer! :wink2: Yesterday was my first test of this...had a sinus migraine. I called the doc and they said yes....crush the med. After the 3rd different med...it finally worked and my headache was gone. As the other poster mentioned....I bought liquid extra strength tylenol and it works much faster on whatever you take it for... love it! Now...fingers crossed I don't get a hormone migraine or I am in trouble..as my progesterone can't be broken, I guess I would have to get an injectable. ;( GOOD LUCK!!

    Greetings from Texas

Karen! Welcome! This is a great site for learning and asking questions. Welcome fellow Texan!! And fellow Karen...lol Karen
  16. Hi Adamsmom... I was like you...wanted it private. But I also refused to lie about it!!! You will probably have plenty of time over the Christmas holiday to recover plenty. That being said - how have I been able to keep it from people? Like someone else said...I ended up having a hernia so I mentioned to a few people I'd had that done. No one really cares....lol...You can still see my IV hole but it looks like a freckle. My closest friend at work was extremely negative when I mentioned it to her months ago..hurt my feelings so I never spoke about it again to her. She's significantly overweight herself and was more worried about what it would do to HER, than how it was going to positively effect my health issues. I took a Friday/Monday/Tuesday off....lol...mentioned leading up to it that I just wanted some time for R&R, rest and relaxation....lol....I also plan on running a 5k later this year....so when i started my pre op diet, I would give her updates like...I lost 2 lbs this week!!! So...she equates my weight loss with my healthier eating which she sees being tied to my 5k prep. I was very careful when I returned to work to not bend down or grimace with her around...etc...Later, down the road...I am sure I will tell her and I could care less what she thinks. I was so hurt by her initial selfish reaction that it's already changed the way I see her. I will divulge info. as I see fit. I have Protein shakes, pudding...etc... in my tiny office fridge and no one ever questions it. NO ONE. :tongue2: Good luck...you can do this! Keep a journal of what you eat, how you feel...as the days pass and you are so happy...it's neat to go back and read about your victories!!! lol.... K

    Dealing with Friends and Family

KRISTA!!!!!!!!! I could relate to your post! When my body stopped making hormones again this spring...I get about 15 symptoms (migraines,etc...) so as they began to progress...Hubby said...better go back to that hormone doc because what if that surgery doesn't work...you will have thrown that money away (we are self pay). I said..really...that's your standpoint? The hormone doc cost $20k OUT OF POCKET annually...and you are willing to do that for the rest of our lives but NOT willing to do a $12k surgery that could very well FIX this? lol.... I was scared to death...as you are about the PCOS stuff. What if I am one of those who doesn't lose? And as you see below...I am losing. It feels surreal after fighting PCOS for so long. And I am not eating the 100 percent clean PCOS way either. Not really exercising yet, still healing... You can do this and you can be successful! Hubby will come around. p.s. I noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in my hormones 48 hours after surgery and every day...it gets better. I wake up with a smile on my face again. Fingers crossed for you to find a way to have this done!

    strange nasty odor

I have had a severe hormone imbalance for years, in which no doc could/would treat. I knew that the band had been stabilizing hormones in women and it frankly, was one of the main reasons I wanted this surgery. My foul odor got significantly better once I had the surgery. The smell has changed to a significantly milder and more normal smell...but the simple fact is...our bodies are changing sooooo much right now...that it may take weeks or months for our bodies hormones to calm down. Just give it some time...your body is just changing. GOOD LUCK!! :w00t:

    First Fill......I am freaked

I will be curious to what the experts say on this... I felt no tightness the day of my fill. The next day...yes, I felt some mild tightness if I was eating...drinking was no problem. I will share (not sure if this is typical) that for lunch today I was easily able to drink 10 oz. of Soup...but the minute I sip a little too fast or do anything sorta solid...I can have a throat gurgle or literally can feel the food (very well chewed up, mind you) sliding down my throat. Anyone advise me? Normal? To feel the food... Good luck to everyone!!! :w00t: Enjoy reading about your progress!!!

    Wearing pants post op

Depends on YOU! I had no swelling whatsoever and had no issues with clothing at all. Others here really struggled with it...have you ever had surgery before? Have you swelled with that surgery before? If you have nothing to compare it to....this will probably be an unknown until you are off the table and being wheeled home!
  24. they are very mainstream now....can find then practically everywhere. I can find mine at HEB and Kroger...

    Dealing with Friends and Family

I always love this thread... Some people will be supportive and some never will. And then there are those shockers...the people you THOUGHT would support your chance to improve your health. Most people will never walk in your shoes and understand what this is like. I hinted to a very good friend months ago that I was reading up on it and she was awful. At that moment I decided I wouldn't ever speak of it again and I haven't...she has no clue I had surgery. She's unhappy with her own significant weight and was more concerned that she wouldn't have a lunch buddy anymore. It made me sad but...it is what it is. You need to be supported through this...only allow people on your party train that are willing and ready to Celebrate with you!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
