    Husband and wife team

Welcome and good luck. I too am a RN and just felt like I was losing battle. I work in OR and have been doing lap bands for last year and with great study and actually seeing what is done and taking care of patients pre-op, intra-op and post op. I decided I would have it done. It wasn't bad except for sholder pain from co2. sugar free popsciles saved me. Things tasted so sweet to me. I mostly drank my Protein drinks and popsciles. The whey Bullets were way to sweet. Good Luck Red

    Help - Kindda weak

Wow, I was banded June 30th and could have all Clear Liquids I wanted. sugar free popscicles were great. What about Protein drinks? GNC and other places have this whey Bullett that isn't much volume but has lots of protein. You need more protein sounds like. Hang in there it will get better. REd

    Surgery Today

Good LUck!!!!! Hang in there for the next few days. It will pass by quickly. Everything tasted so sweet to me right after surgery, and everthing was sugarfree, go figure. Sip, sip, sip. Don't get dehydrated even though you won't want to drink. Thank goodness for sugarfree popscicles, that is what I lived on. Good Luck REd

    Im freaking fustrated...

Hi I was banded on June 3oth, I lost 6lbs before and 10 the week of, I was really shocked. But now I'm 2 weeks post op and have lost 1, so I also say what is up with that. I drink my Protein drinks and have just barely started to add a few things, cottage cheese and yogart have never tasted so good. This weekend I took some barbeque chicken and put it in food prosessor with tiny bit of sauce and chopped very fine and had 3 teaspoons full, oh the pleasure!!!! I guess it all takes time. REd
  8. Hi, I had my band on 6-30-08. I slept in recliner for 1st 6-7nights. Then went to my bed. I usually only sleep on sides, but have a big pillow to support my incsion areas. I feel really good to day. Had my first green Beans for lunch with my cottage cheese. Woo, I will start a few more foods to chew this weekend, I'm going slow, cuz I really don't want any problems. I'm still drinking my Protein shakes. Good LUck Redhead

How much is too much Protein

Hi It seems like on the sheet my dietcian game me 300lbs is minimum of 134gms of Protein a day, I know you have to make sure you drink Water to flush out. I don't know who to believe. I asked DR. about that much with kidneys and he said his pts have had no problems. I guess would depend on if you have kidney problems. I just ate my first few bites of green Beans for lunch. WOOOWEEE. Red

How much is too much Protein

Hi, When I met with dietician pre-op, she had a formula kg per Protein and it came out to be 130gms a day min. She gave me a sheet to use for my weight loss. She said it is very important to get a minimum, so depending on where you are weight wise is how much. I'll look at my sheet to tell you exactly, it is at home. Good luck. I haven't had any problems getting enough, with the Protein drinks I have they have 23- 50gms and deping on how much Water I mix with them. I'm 2 weeks post op and feel really good. Redhead
  11. Hi I'm 2 weeks post op, I can now have soft foods, but am kinda nervous not to have to much. I eat cottage cheese, Soups, puddings. Have you tried the nectar Protein drink, the one Fuzzy Navel is really good, I mix it with Crystal Light, it is very filling. I don't feel really that hungry. Oh yeah I did have a scrambled egg which was wonderful. Good LUck Redhead1
  12. Hi I'm 1 week post op and don't really feel like eating much, but at least drink your Protein and you will probably feel better. I just started soft foods and the scrambled egg was great. But I feel full very easy with anything and don't dare eat to the point of really full. Don't put to much pressure on your self. Have you found a drink you really like. Be creative in doctoring your drinks. I had sugar free Carnation Breakfast and Divincis sugarfree, 0cal 0carb flavorings. Do you have a support group in your area? Redhead1
  13. Hi 7-9-08 I'm new to all of this. Surgery was 6-30-08. Was a scary decsion. But after much research and talking with many who had it done I did it. I have a 19 year old daughter in College and I don't want to be a fat mom when she gets married. My insurance wouldn't pay for it, so it was a struggle financially, but did it. I The only problem I can really complain about is immediately in recovery I had left shoulder pain, that is still there, it has eased up some, it is the air that they put in your abdomen to see what they are doing sometimes gets trapped and oo is mine been trapped. But it is slightly better today. Diet wise hasn't been bad at all. The first few days everything tasted so sweet, I couldn't handle the bulletts. The things that has worked for me is Isopure Vanila and chocolate and the Necter Fuzzy Navel and sugar free popsicles I'm thankful to find this site and welcome much information and encouragement. My first fill is 7-30-08, which makes me kinda nervous.
