  1. Wow you are lucky I have a 2 hour travel to Augusta, one way!! I am hoping since I live so far away that they may be able to do something for me. Otherwise I will be doing a lot of traveling! Oh well it will be more than worth it in the end! Good luck, hopefully we can help each other out through this journey!
  2. I havent had the band done yet, but I have had a c-section and I had my gall bladder removed and I am assuming, from what I have read that Lap band surgery will be much easier than a c-section.
  3. I have read a lot about people having a gall bladder exam before their surgery. But I already have had my gall bladder removed, does anyone think that is going to be a problem??? I had it removed two months after I gave birth to my baby so it has been 2 years next month since my surgery. I was just wondering if anyone else had their gall bladder removed before having lap band surgery or if it might cause a problem?? TIA
  4. I am from Maine and I tried to go to EMMC and they do not accept MaineCare for the Lap Band only for the by-pass. I asked the lady from Maine General in Augusta if they accepted MaineCare and she said yes. Also the hospital in Lewiston, I forget the name but they also accept MaineCare. My PCP told me that MaineCare will cover the lapband surgery I am just not sure what their requirements are yet? I am waiting for the seminar. Good Luck and Hello from a fellow Mainer!
  5. I have a lot too but here are a few of mine... *Of course I want to wear a bikini and look good in it! *Go shopping and not have to sit down *Shop for real clothes not sweats *Change infront of my SO and not be ashamed *Believe that my SO loves me just the way I am *Feel good about myself *Play with my son for hours not minutes *Feel comfortable eating out Those are a few, my biggest goal is to get into a bikini!! (As long as my strech marks fade a little!)
  6. Hi Everyone I am Angel, I am 24. I live in Lincoln with my SO, Wayne, my 2yr old son, my dog and my new kitten. I am just begining my journey and I have to attend the seminar on August 14th!!
  7. My final straw was that I cannot play with my son like I want to. I always have to sit down and take a break. I just want to go outside and run around with him. Another is that fact that I have no idea who the fat chick in the mirror is? There is a skinny active girl in there just dying to get out.
  8. Welcome and hello from a fellow Mainer!!
  9. I kind of like my girls and I really dont want them to go too far after I have my band. If they could perk up a little I wouldnt mind!! LOL

  12. Does anyone have an IUD and a band? I was just wondering if after getting the band if having an IUD would change anything? Right now I only have my period for a day, usually every 3 months!! I didnt know if that would change or if the IUD would still keep my TOM in check?
  13. Hi fellow Mainers, I am Angel, I have introduced myself in the introdctions thread, but I thought I would say hi here too! I do not have a surgery date scheduled yet but am looking forward to gettin the ball rolling, so to speak. I have to go to the seminar on August 14th. I live almost 115 miles from Augusta so I have a bit of a travel, but my doc suggested that I got to Maine General becaue they do more Lap Bands than Eastern Maine Medical Center. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and am sure that I will learn a lot from this site. Angel:smile2:
  14. Vicki, Thanks for the info. No I am not self-pay, I have to go through my insurance company. Amanda, Hi! It does sound like we have a lot in common! And Happy Birthday!:wink2:
  15. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and new to the idea of lapband. I am 24 years old and have been overweight all of my life. I have tried just about every diet out there and only had short term sucess. I don't have a surgery day yet, but I am going to the seminar provided by the hospital on August 16th!! Just thought I would say Hi, as I am probably going to be here a lot!
  16. I am glad that you said that, I was getting worried that I would be on a mushy kind of diet forever after the surgery. I just called the doctor and I have to attend the seminar on August 16th!!!!! I am getting really excited now!! I know it will probably be a while before I actually have the surgery but at least the first step is scheduled!
