  1. Hello! Thought I would start out this group as I have a surgery date for Jan 4, 2022!! I'm so excited and a bit anxious for the pre-op diet - I will be starting it while on vacation - but what a great way to say Hello to the New Year!!
  2. So awesome!!! ... are you going to update your numbers so we can see your progress?! heheh little peer pressure there
  3. I think its a really interesting topic - to share or not to share. This is all about me and no one else. Thankfully everyone important to me is on board and fully supportive of my decision to go forward with this. My brother (who is overweight) is the only one who said something bratty so far, he said "well that's drastic". I just do not need that from anyone. I decide what is drastic, this isn't drastic to me - it's imperative! I was hoping it would open the idea to him doing something similar in the future but apparently he's fine. I definitely do not need society's input. No thank you! haha Congrats to you for putting yourself first!! When is your surgery date?
  4. I went to my final pre-op appointment yesterday, when I got there the NP said she had an opening for 16 November and I was SO excited!!! Then the doctor came in and realized that OR slot was for the sleeve and I'm doing the RNY which takes longer... .So now surgery in 4 Jan. I'm a little disappointed but feeling alright about the fact that I can do things with my friends this holiday season without explaining to anyone what I'm doing - I want it to be a secret for the most part. Also a bit bummed that I will be on vacation in Florida when I start my pre-op diet, which will suck but whatever.
  5. Sounds like you'll be updating your current weight soon!
  6. I'm trying to be part of this group! My pre-op appointment is on 3 Nov 21 and I am praying surgery is booked for 2 weeks after.
  7. Thank you for explaining this! Congrats on your weight loss and new improved maneuverability!!
  8. Way to figure it out! Good Job.
  9. I know this is an old post, as you've already been... but I just wanted to say for the record... do not go to the Optical Illusion Museum. We found it to be a complete waste of money.
  10. Now I want to rant and rave about why the button is called quote and not reply. LOL Whatever
  11. yep! before this recent weight gain, in 2004, I had lost 180lbs (hw:346 Lw:160) with just diet and exercise (maintained for 15+years). At that time I was just 21 years old and not accustomed to the new found attention I had been experiencing. Intentionally, I got a job waiting tables to help me get (way) outside my comfort zone and learn to process people looking at me. Before when people looked at me it was to stare or make fun of me - or whatever. But suddenly, I had to adjust to what those looks meant. I have to admit, in hind sight, I enjoyed that experience. It helped me to grow as a woman. I remember I used to turn red in the face if I thought a man was attractive and talking to me. Waiting tables helped me to focus on my purpose for standing at a table and not be distracted by attractions - one way or another. Good luck on your journey to love yourself!
  12. I cannot figure out how to reply to a comment in a thread. It only allows me to reply to "this" at the very top - for the original comment.
  13. I have read other threads that show this has happened before and resulted in a healthy pregnancy. Talk to your doctors - false positive are far less common than false negatives. Congratulations!
  14. I drink Optimum Nutrition whey protein. We have the strawberry and double chocolate. My husband is a a body builder - it is what he drinks to shred and what I drink to lose weight while getting all required protein per day.
  15. I think you more or less establish your goal weight. Not your providers... it's what you would like your weight to be when it's leveled out at the end. You should think of your goal as a sliding scale - subject to change based on your personal growth and progression.
