Love this!!! Although I never experienced it I did hear rumours of weight limits on some of the Water rides at Volcano bay in FL? I avoided it last time I was on holiday in Florida to avoid embarrassment.. however I have a trip booked for Feb now the borders are open and I’m so excited to experience the US as a slimmer me. New hurdles and challenges lay ahead as eating my weight in pancakes and Olive Garden was my all time fave!!

There’s a copycat Olive Garden Alfredo recipe that I have with broccoli and it’s to die for!! Olive Garden is also my fav 😭😭 zuppa Toscana is also easy to make at home!!

    So I got a semi-funny one:

Last weekend me and Mr were out at a bar and upon coming back from the bathroom, he introduced me to some new people he met at his “trophy wife”.

The strong, independent woman in me is officially offended, but the slightly inebriated me was all giggly schoolgirl. 😂😂😂

Granted, he was pretty drunk himself so…😂

    So cute!!

I’m one month post op and I just started eating and slowly getting hungry. Every time I eat I feel a weird pain in my chest and stomach I dont know if that’s normal tbh cause I take super small bites and I chew well too. I have my second follow up in November so I’ll ask my doctor if it doesn’t get better till then.

It is slowly going away for me now! Almost gone :)

Yesterday I was hanging out talking to my husband in the front yard while he trimmed the palm trees and later he said to me that it’s funny that I am so oblivious to it but just about every guy that went by was checking me out. I said it’s probably the neighbors wanting to know if you traded me in for another woman since I lost so much so quickly and he said don’t sell yourself short, your hot. It’s also our 20th anniversary this week so thats nice to hear once in a while.

This made me cry happy tears! I’m so happy for you! I can’t wait to be there

Try keeping your lips closed until you tip the liquid toward your mouth and it creates a seal. This is what my nurse said to do to keep air out. I imagine it looks like you are making a kissing face, then put the cup to your lips and tilt until the liquid covers the seam between your lips. Then open your mouth just a bit for a tiny sip. The liquid should cover the whole opening.

Okay I just did, and Yep, worked like a dream. I can’t believe I’m 37 and learning how to sip Water 😂😂😂

I definitely have some lingering pressure discomfort when I eat or drink still and I am a bit over 4 months out. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but it sounds sort of like what you are referring to. I never had this before, but now when I eat I just have more gas produced and when I start to get full it just feels like I have to burp more. My husband noticed it first that when I am nearing my 'full' I put my hand on my chest and it reminds me to sort of burp the pressure out-not loud burps, just little covert ones. I was really nervous about this at first, but as long as things trend better as you heal, you should be fine!

Yes exactly!!!! That sounds exactly like it! I’m always putting my hand to my chest when I’m eating too! Even tho I don’t think the pain is there, it’s lower…. But yes I do be burping a lot more and the discomfort is there right before a burp too.

I’ve had a squeezing feeling since day two. Whether I’m drinking or not. I do notice that it is VERY strong when I should be putting something into my body. Ex. Protein Shake. Once I start sipping on a Protein shake it calms down. Honestly I’ve got nothing else to indicate that I’m hungry. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’m not sure I have that! But I’m having a really hard time figuring out when I’m hungry! I never feel hungry just cravings I think.

  8. Okay so you’re right. But I think I am just incapable of taking that little of a sip without air. So that little sip always has air in it, which mean discomfort, or it’s a bit too big so discomfort. BUT a you are also right because since I posted this to now the discomfort is a tad better so safe to assume that with time, it will be even better. Thanks for helping me :)

I know you said you are taking small drinks and bites, but this sounds like what happens to me when I take too large of a swallow or bite. Are you sure you are taking small enough drinks/bites? Pinky fingernail sized bites? Chewed at least 20 times?

It does get better though as swelling goes down a bit, there is a little more room.

I thought I am but let me try even smaller! I’m not quite at the chewing yet because everything is puréed but if I miss a piece yes I’m very careful to chew well! I’m pretty sure I’ve tried smallest drinks I can, but I get more air when I do tiny drinks. I feel like it hurts more so I take small not tiny drinks. (This is so hard to explain haha)

I’ll do even smaller bites today and let you know! Thank you for taking the time to respond!

  10. I’m so sorry if this has already been asked and answered. I’m new here.

Since day one, liquid, or purée (not on solids yet) no matter how fast or slow, how big the drink or bite is… there is a little bit of discomfort with every swallow. Not in my throat but lower, like between throat and stomach? Or maybe it is stomach, hard to tell. It’s like if I swallowed a giant pill and a bunch of air. (pre op). It’s not bad and this whole time I just assumed it was normal, didn’t even talk to my doc about it, because I didn’t think of it, but now I’m like wait… is this normal? Is this forever? Once in awhile it’s a little bit painful and I have a burp, so I assume that’s gas. But what about the just minor discomfort feeling down there? It lasts one or two seconds, Does everyone have that?

for reverence I had the sleeve and I’ve kept everything down. I’m on week three and haven’t thrown anything up or had any real pain, just this minor discomfort.

    thanks!
    Sarah

Ok I'm going to have to try to find those popsicles at Walmart!!!

Another thing that helped me through week one was sonic ice (you can buy the bags, or if you don’t have sonic whatever place by you that has ice chips) and Powerade zero blue (or whatever your favorite sugar free drink is) I did all ice then a splash of that and ate the ice and it felt like a snow cone lol

I had my surgery on the 26th, so I am technically 5 days out. I am getting really tired of my Protein and Soup mix that I've been alternating through. I'm not saying I want more food, I just want something different. I had a sudden craving for Peanut Butter and I was wondering if anyone knew of any way to squash that craving? Any Protein powder/drink recommendations?

Popsicles and Jello helped me a lot, I’m on week two and haven’t tried Peanut Butter yet I’m too scared to go against anything lol. I do obsessively search things other people have had and if there’s quite a few people I will.

my favorite popsicle when I was little were those missile pops (cherry pineapple swirl) and I found them at Walmart sugar free! My first week basically consisted of my obsessively looking at food and finding something to eat, because I can not do anything warm and clear. (In my head) so gross to me for some reason.

Like ShannonLea101 I have also been lurking. This is one of my biggest fears with getting the sleeve.

I currently have a lap band, and over time I am becoming increasingly dissatisfied with it. I want to make the transition to the sleeve. The surgery center called my insurance, and my previous employer had elected not to cover any bariatric procedures. My new job starts on the first and I'm very hopeful. There should be a law that companies have to disclose anything that they have chosen to exempt before someone takes the job.

I do have some concerns about the sleeve. The appeal to the band was that it was reversible. I'm afraid I'm going to be miserable, or that I will miss eating. Frequently with the band, I will have to stop eating due to restriction, but I'm still hungry. Not head hunger, but real hunger. Or, I won't be able to eat much and an hour later my stomach starts growling. Am I going to be hungry? Am I still going to want to eat before I go to bed? If I know in advance, I can mentally prepare. I had such high hopes for the band.

I have the sleeve. My number one biggest issue was constant, aggressive hunger at bed time. I could ignore it any other time (mostly) but sometimes I literally could not sleep unless I binged. First full day home (day three) I cried all day. I wanted to eat, I was craving so bad and even though I was not hungry I wanted to eat. And the pain, I was crying so much and said it was the biggest mistake of my life and couldn’t believe I did it. This was everything I was afraid of. Now… I know I’m only on week 2 but man it really only lasted that one day! I do get a little sad especially because of all the summer parties even in just two weeks I’m missing, and can’t eat and can’t swim (for now). But, wow, watching these pounds fall WHILE not being hungry, AND finally not even wanting to eat anything at night has been the most calming thing in my life. Every single day the cravings get less. I have always been a huge huge craver and night eater. And the day I woke up from surgery it was cravings every 5 min and now I can go half a day without a craving. I think by next week it will be very sporadic.

from one night time eater and constant craver and constantly hungry person, to another. Do it. You’ll have a day or two you Regret it because it Doesn’t instantly fix it. But man if by two weeks you feel like I am now compared by how I felt then??? That’s almost instantly haha

I’m feeling better and better each day! It still is a bit sore in my abdomen region and it feels weird when i move around but not anything unbearable thankfully! I’m sorry to hear you weren’t feeling too good :( i hope you feel better as the days progress!

dang thats great! No I should have elaborated, haha. Day three was mentally my hardest day, mostly because of the pain and the hunger and the cravings! I was crying almost the entire day and made my boyfriend stay home from work! Told him all day long (While ugly crying) How much I regretted it and it was the biggest regret in my entire life! Then every day since has been better and better and Im so happy! I wake up each morning to another pound lost, haha! Cravings get less each day and I'm no longer feeling hungry! Mine was on the 22nd! I even made dinner for everyone while I ate a Jello and I didnt even think ONE NEGATIVE THOUGHT! I didnt even THINK to try to taste the sauce and I was literally making my favorite meal! One I am craving. Today is my favorite day yet! (Sorry to take your post and run, haha but as soon as I saw you say day three, I was like oh I never want to be day three me again! hahahaha)

I've been lurking but wanted to post on this. I had my VGS on 6/21. The first couple of weeks I was having hunger pains too (literally). Everything sounded good, even stuff I don't normally eat. I also had that period of "panic" that maybe I would be miserably hungry for the rest of my life but it got much better. I get the hungry stomach feeling sometimes but not intense - will usually pass if its not time to eat.

That is so good to hear! I had mine 7/22 and it’s not as bad as the day after, but it’s still pretty bad. I keep obsessing over my moms pea salad. And it’s not even my favorite food! I just keep obsessing over it lol. Thank you for the reassurance
