How is everyone doing? I am totally off my pain meds and have moved to ibuprofen only. I can finally sleep on my sides, so I think the rest is really helping my recovery. Hope you are all well!

I just made it back home and man, am I sore/tender. They said I was a perfect patient and everything went beautifully. When I finally was able to have a popsicle today, it was by far the best popsicle I've ever had. I'm so glad to be out of the hospital, relaxing at home. Hope you're all doing as well!

So it's 2:45 am on surgery day, and I cannot sleep due to my husband's snoring and a little bit of jitters.) I have to take a shower and get ready to leave at 4:00 am, so I figured I may as well pop on here and wish everyone wonderful, routine surgeries since I am so wide awake! I prayed for all of us this morning and I can't wait to catch up with everyone this weekend. God bless you all!

Happy Surgery Eve everyone! Don't forget to pack some stretchy/loose clothes for coming home.

I am so glad you guys decided to check out this thread! I myself, did not have a pre-op diet at all, but I've been trying to do a lower carb high Protein plan on my own. I almost wish I had a plan I was supposed to follow because I keep falling into the, "well - I don't even have to do this anyway" attitude, and it's easy to get sidetracked. That's the part of this that I find so unusual, every doctor has a totally different pre & post op diet. So, what time does everyone have to report and how long are you supposed to stay? I go in at 6:00 am and should be having surgery by 8:00 and finished an hour later. I'm expected to get out of the hospital by early afternoon on Friday.

I started a thread in the support group forum for all of us getting banded on the 15th. I thought it would be a nice way to track each other's progress since there seem to be quite a few of us scheduled for that date. Hope to see you there! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f291/january-15th-band-party-85392/#post1116226

I am getting banded on January 15th, at Norton's Hospital in Louisville, KY with Dr. Farid Kehdy!

I had my surgeon consult yesterday too and I really like Dr. Kehdy. He wants me to do a stress test and get cleared for surgery from my PCM (which hopefully will be tomorrow). His nurse told me that once I have those things finished that I can be scheduled for surgery and right now with the holiday season upon us, his schedule is looking wide open. They took my "before" photos yesterday at the office visit too. Thanks for the update!

That's really strange. I had no idea there were 2 seminars. I attended my seminar at Suburban with Dr. Geller also, but that was back in July. I switched from Dr. Geller to Dr. Kehdy because of insurance reasons, and I am finally getting to go in for my psych. evaluation and to speak to the nutritionist on Tuesday. Out of curiosity, what did your psych. eval consist of? I have heard they can be anywhere from minimal to extremely invasive and in depth, including personality tests. I haven't heard specifically what the ones with the Norton group entail. What was yours like?

JT - just curious as to why you had to attend 2 seminars?

Hi ladies!! Lynn, I was curious if you went through Norton? I believe Dr. Allen is with that group. I am going with them, but my surgeon is Dr. Kehdy. I go on Tuesday, the 7th for my Psych. Eval. and Nutrition Appts. I was curious if you can tell me what your Psych. Eval. consisted of. I have heard they can be anywhere from very minimal to extremely in depth and was just curious what I was in for. Also, how was your overall experience if you did go through Norton's?

Hey everyone! I'm a 28 y/o newlywed hoping to take quite a bit of weight off in order to safely conceive eventually. I have PCOS, hyperthyroidism and hypertension, but my cholesterol is perfect (go figure). I just found the site, but have been considering banding for a while. I go for the first information seminar on July 17th, which is required to get the ball rolling. I am going through Norton's. Would love to find a local buddy to share experiences with. -

Will you be getting all your fills in Louisville? -
I go for the seminar on the 17th, through Norton's in Louisville. Anyone have any words of advice or experiences to share?
-
How long was the seminar and what did they discuss? I have Tricare insurance, so hopefully the approval process will be relatively simple.

Thanks ladies! kyteachjules - I wish I could have gone through Dr. Kaza, but alas they are not "A Center of Excellence" yet in the eyes of Tricare, so I can either wait til they become one, or go elsewhere and I am nice and motivated, so I really just want to get it over with. The surgery part freaks me out. I am a worry wart by nature though.
