  1. in the past month ive really tried to eat better and stick to not eating fast food and soda, ive gone 1 month now without fast food but have had two diet cokes in one month. i know that 2 sodas in one month isnt bad but im not suppose to drink soda period. if i cant stick to it now how will i stick to it after surgery? am i going to fail? i seem to stick to things for a while but then i tend to slip as time goes by. i just dont want to sabatoge things. am i set out for failure?

I had to give up soda 6 months ago at first it ws hard but i got used to it and felt better for it, after 8 weeks of post op I have had a sip and it felt like a had a carbonation festivel going on in my stomach-needless to say didnt like it so soda is no longer appealing! I agree with the other writer we have to plan to be a dieter for life this is just a tool, no weight melts away, i have worked for every pound so far. I do feel that I crave sweets less often and ,many of the obsessions with food have faded but if I dont stick to the diet I doont do well and i dont feel well.....prepare yourslef psyhcologically for a new life and be your own xciting phenomenon! you can do it!

  2. This surgery is not a qucik fix, its just a tool to help us fight this disease. Its very challenging and not an instant fix. food addiction will be a lifeling battle just like for alcoholics, you have to be ready to fight the fight. But remember you cant do it alone, get to a local support group or jin Weight wathchers. They sometimes have a 100 plus group<but either way they will rally around you> we can still eat with a band so if we donthave help it can be overwhelimng. Get that appt asap, tell yourself you are worth it> frankly your dr needs to step up and offer resources, ask him what he can recommend. Also see a therapist who specializes in weight loss, that has helped me alot. I am surprised your dr didnt recommend gastric bypass instead of lapband.....but look at the bright side with the band you are in control.

I own a rental in queen creek so I know where you are, maybe one day we can compare pictures after our success!

  3. actually I have been told by the nutritionist that this is very common

your band is not that small right now so its normal for us to be hungry

once you start soft foods you will feel better

also keep reminding yourself you have not given up food you will be eating everything you want withing a few weeks, sometimes we have to change our thinking on food so we dont feel deprived and then agitated> once you get to soft foods you will feel more satisfied hope this helps heidi
