    July 2021 Surgery People!

Aww...sorry to hear that you are still sore & still feeling hungry. Would Tylenol & heating pad help? Is it still gas pain? Do gas-x or mylanta help? Maybe your doctor may have suggestions. I do hope you start to feel better & find foods that help with the hunger.

Glad you are recovering well. It must be hard to get used to this new way of eating. The first few stages will probably be difficult, but hopefully you will be able to add more foods as time goes on. I'm sorry that you are having difficulty with this & hope things get better.

I hope things get easier for you soon. Has it been difficult due to pain, are you having a tough time getting your liquids down, or a little of both? Congrats on the surgery & feel better.

@Dayana Luque Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I will have mine on that day also! Surgery is also always a little scary for me, too. When I start to worry, I remind myself that I am confident that this is the right thing for me & know the risk of complications is very small. Wishing you luck & hoping your fears stress & anxiety decrease before your surgery.

    Nectar Drinks

I was thinking of trying tge lemonade, iced tea and crystal sky. I also bought the genepro, but have only tried it in sugarfree jello, so far. I dis order the bariatric pal fruit drinks. I wonder if they are similar to the Nectar drinks. I only tried pineapple orange from the multi pack. It was pretty good, a nice change from the protein shakes.

    Nectar Drinks

Hi SlimChickadee, I was just reading about these the other day, and I was looking into trying them. From what I understand for every 2-4 oz of water you mix in a quarter of the pouch. Maybe start with 2 oz per quarter packet and see if it is too sweet/strong and add more if needed. So, some people may use 1 entire pouch with 8 oz of water, and others might get 16 oz out of it depending how sweet/ strong you like it. To get the 23 grams of protein, you would need to drink the entire pouch. Let me know if you ended up liking it! What flavor did you try?

    July 2021 Surgery People!

Hi Mama Des, Congrats on the surgery. I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain, and so hungry. I'm not sure what your allowed and what you have tried, but here are some things I am going to try after surgery (and am using now, pre op): broth (w/ or w/out genepro), s.f. jello (genepro can be added here, too), s.f. electrolyte drink mix, s.f. popsicles, s.f. drink mixes, and once in full liquid stage s.f. yogurt & farina/cream of wheat thinned with milk. I had a sample of a broth that was made by Bariatric fusion, it was pretty tasty. The nectar protein drinks have some flavors that seem more like juice, lemon aid, fruit punch or iced tea. I haven't tried those yet. I hope you find something to make this phase easier, good luck, & tell us if you find anything that worked for you.

    What fears did you have?

I have similar fears that have been expressed by others; complications during or after surgery, being successful in losing weight, being successful maintaining the weight loss & keeping up with protein water & vitamins. My surgery is on the 26th, and my plan is to have my husband at the hospital with me before surgery, and during the surgery he will be in the waiting room or go get something to eat. Then hopefully, he will be there when I get up to my room just to help me settle in. I don't want him to be there all day, and that way he can get home to our little ones and dog. (My sister, parents, & nephew are helping with the kids & dog while I am in the hospital and the beginning of recovery [I won't be able to lift my daughter (20 months)]💗) Then the plan is for him to return before discharge the next day. Hopefully, hearing what other people did, or think they will do, helps you make a plan that you are comfortable with, so it is one less thing on your mind.😉😁 Wishing you well with your surgery on the 8th!
