    Adding protein drinks

In addition to the Fairlife Core Power, Fairlife also makes Nutrition plan protein drinks. They have 30 g of protein and taste less chalky than some of the other protein drinks I have tried. They are a little more mild in flavor (well I only tried chocolate), and taste pretty close to chocolate milk. I have heard some people like the Ghost brand of protein powder, but I have not tried them. I have the Bariatricpal Clean Whey (choc) & Premier Protein (chocolate & vanilla). Sometimes, I mix the vanilla & chocolate because the chocolate can be too intense. I prefer the BariatricPal over Premier Protein. Premier Protein is easy to find in a number of stores. Fairlife is better than both for me. Other posters have suggested not stocking up on too many shakes before surgery, this was good advice. After surgery, you may get tired of them or your tastes might change. Good luck to you!
  2. I'm sorry that your husband isn't supporting your decision to have was. It must be so disappointing and hurtful when your spouse won't even drive you to & from the hospital. I truly hope he has a change of heart and realizes that you would like for him to be more supportive.🤞 Maybe in your therapy sessions or talks regarding the topic, you could ask him (again, if you already have) if it would help if he spoke to the doctor to find out more about the surgery or if he would be interested in hearing or reading about other people who have gone through it. Although, it sounds like he is not open to it at this point. But he does need to know that you want this (wls) and you will do it with or without his support, but prefer he was on board. Good luck to you with your surgery & finding a ride. I hope you have or find a positive support system. You have many of us on here rooting for you!💜
  3. Yes, hopefully that will be a benefit of losing at slower pace. 🤞🦥🐢

    Food Before and After Photos

Yay, I can finally contribute "food before and afters" to this post. I started soft foods today. I guess the restriction kicked in! I think I gave myself way too much for my first meal. Perhaps I stopped to early, but I felt like I didn't want to push it. I will have to learn what my full signals truly are, but I think I felt something that made me say "enough". Served myself: 3 oz of scrambled eggs 1 oz canned peaches in light s.f. syrup drained Ate: about 1 oz ? of eggs & 2 dices/cubes of peaches. Does anyone weigh their food after, so they know how much they ate? I didn't think of it until after I cleaned up.

    Fish for pureed/mushy stages?

Yes, there are sugars from the formented grape juice. My thoughts were that if I were to make the balsamic reduction, I can control the amount that I add to my food (or other ingredients to make another sauce or dressing). With the packaged tuna I would have to have the amount of sugar that has been added to the package.

https://cafedelites.com/balsamic-glaze/ Here is a link foe a recipe for balsamic reduction. You don't need to add sugar, but I add a pinch of salt. Good balsamic is all you need, and then you reduce it & it will thicken. Of course a little sugar is better, but it's good without it. I like it on pork or lamb chops. I'll eat the 2 packages of sweet & spicy tuna that I have for now & be more careful looking forward. The ranch and sesame ginger tuna creations had less sugar.

    Fish for pureed/mushy stages?

Just saw that sugar is third ingredient, so it may not be the best choice.🙄 I guess to keep sugar lower I will have to to make my own sauce or dressing.

    Fish for pureed/mushy stages?

It has 4g. I have to double check, but I don't think my plan gave me a total for daily sugar limits. Does 4 g sound like too much? I will check with my nutritionist to see what my daily limit should be. I would probably only be eating 1/2 a pouch then with 2 g. of sugar during soft food stage. Alternatively, if she thinks it is too much sugar, I can make a balsamic reduction to make a sweet sauce without sugar.
  10. It looks like I may end up being a slow loser, so I think not getting frustrated with that might end up being my biggest obstacle. Then the frustration has turned into getting off track in the past. I will have to accept that it may be slow, but that is ok. Hoping this time is different & also working hard to make it different.
  11. Yay! That's awesome. So happy for you!🥳🤩😁
  12. I was wondering how your doing? Did you get a chance to see the doctor?

    It happened- I got canceled

I'm very sorry to hear this happened to you. It must be so frustrating & disappointing. I hope things work out & you can be rescheduled soon. 🤞

    Fish for pureed/mushy stages?

I plan on trying to mix it with guacamole or avocado or salsa. I also bought some hummus to mix with canned chicken breast. Tuna creations also had some sauces/flavors. One was a tangy sweet & spicy sauce, if you don't have it available by you, maybe you can find a recipe for a sauce or salad dressing to mix it with (vinaigrette/oil & vinegar, balsamic). Let me know if you find anything else that work well for mushy/ soft food stage. I start soft foods on Wednesday! 😁

  18. Hi SummertimeGirl! These are sites that I have looked at to get ideas for recipes for when I move on to soft foods & modified regular diet: https://www.barilife.com/bariatric-recipes/page/5/ https://bariatricmealprep.com/bariatric-protein-shakes/ https://bariatricbits.com/bariatricnutrition/recipes/ I will check out Bariatricqueen, thanks!😁

  21. https://bariatricbits.com/recipes/ Here is a website that has some recipes. I think I saw another one that had some interesting looking recipes, and I will post it if I find it. I start soft foods on Wednesday (cannot wait!). I bought canned tuna, canned chicken breast, chicken thighs, white fish, turkey chili, soups with meat & vegetables. I also picked up low fat mayo, hummus & guacamole (pre made snack size tubs) to mix with chicken & tuna. Some other things I purchased to prepare are sugar free bbq sauce, sugar free ketchup, s.f. canned fruit, beans, ground turkey. I plan on continuing to eat Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt & farina for breakfast. Good luck & tell us if you find recipes or foods that you like!
  22. Hi Maribelle76 I also had difficulty trying to figure that out. It should be easier to do. I found an earlier post to help me a few weeks ago. Someone posted this link. It worked for me. Hopefully, it will work for you. 😊 https://www.bariatricpal.com/patients/portal/?do=progress
  23. I also have bruising and a bump by my belly button. I spoke to the doctor about it over the phone on Thursday and he wasn't that concerned, yet. He said there was a possibility it might be a hematoma, though, so he said for me to keep an eye on the size if the bruise & color, (it should be moving to green & yellow soon). I would need to come in if I see no improvement in the next few days. I was also thinking I might have a hernia when I told him, but he didn't seem to think it was that. After my c-section with my daughter, I had a Seroma, it is a build up of fluid near surgery sites, so that is another possibility of what I think mine might be. If it is that, it will need to be drained also. It may be best to go to your doctor Monday, so she can see if it needs attention. I feel like it is always better to be overly cautious when it comes to medical concerns. Wishing you quick healing & lots of luck with your progress.
  24. I am looking forward to: -going on rides with my kids when they are a little bigger. -going shopping for clothes in smaller sizes. - not fearing whether I will fit in airplane seat (or sitting in any seat comfortably) -getting off BP meds. -having more stamina & energy while walking. -getting more comfortable sleep (less hip & back pain). -getting to Onederland. -moving down to "overweight" category on BMI scale. -fitting my calves in boots! (even if I don't ever decide to wear them, just knowing I don't need to buy for wide calves would be nice) -my doctor's not mentioning my weight. -not being uncomfortable sitting in front of people/moving away from the walls & back of rooms (hiding). *I am sure I forgot some so there may be a part 2 soon!😁
