I am SO excited! I'm scheduled for 8/26. I went and bought a bluetooth water bottle that tracks my Water intake, (it lights up to remind me to drink, and every time it does, my 5 y/o yells "Drink!" - my husband says we're getting him ready for college, haha), a BT weigh scale that syncs with my phone, a BT measuring tape that syncs with my phone, a bunch of Protein and blender bottles, freezer storage containers so I can make some Bone Broth ahead to freeze and have after surgery. I ordered all the success books my surgeon recommended, and have read 4 out of 5 of them. I bought a bunch of bariatric cookbooks. I have probably watched every single episode of My 600-lb Life. I am *trying* to take 30 minutes to eat my meals, and not drinking for 30 minutes before/after meals like my dietician recommended (it's hard!). I'm trying to go with the flow, but I'm too Type A. I'm sure out of all this planning, only about half of it will be useful, lol. Anyone else overthinking/obsessing??? Am I setting myself up for failure? This time next month, we'll all be in the thick of it!

My sister tells me I'm obsessed all the time! I've probably watched every YouTube video there is related to VSG. Do what makes you comfortable and gives you peace! I love that you have a 5 year old cheerleader!

    Anybody else getting cold feet?

I was not loosing weight anymore on the pre-op plan because I was thinking about how loosing all this weight is making me go through peri-menopause again. (I had it bad with arthritis aches, sweating, Migraines, and moodiness.). I was thinking that I’m paying and working hard to go through it again.

Then I had an asthma attack and couldn’t sleep for three nights in a row. Finally my epiphany happened and I remembered that the terrible asthma is why I want to be healthy. The pre-op plan reduces inflammation and helps keep asthma away! Peri-menopause is temporarily, I want to see my son grow up. I’m back on track.

What is keeping you on track?

Good for you! Just the thought of being healthy is keeping me on track. I have so many comorbidities and I'm hoping to get off my medicine, or even decrease my dosage. I've been unhealthy so long that I'm not comfortable in my own skin. Hopefully, when the weight comes off and I feel physically better, I can get into trying new things.

I will be starting my liver shrink diet in a few days. I am excited and freaking out at the same time! I keep thinking of foods that I need to eat because I won’t be eating them anymore after the surgery. I have to keep bringing myself back to focusing on getting healthy rather than the food. I am both ready and nervous!

Congrats! I am on the pre-op diet now but I must say, I had the best food funeral! 🙂

    I'm the 18th as well!

I'm very excited but also a bit nervous. Still going back and forth wether this is the right choice for me.
I know I'll probably never lose the weight without the surgery, but I'm afraid I'll fall back into old habits after having the surgery. Is anybody else having these doubt/concerns?

Hey, Surgery Sibling! I keep telling myself it's mind over matter. We all have to address our relationship with food and decide what/who we want to be going forward. It's normal to have concerns but think positive! Stay strong! You got this!

Yes, I’m worried about the same thing too. I have to remind myself that WLS is a strong tool. I’m having RNY and it will correct the hiatal hernia and GERD. The only way to get better is to go through.

Hey surgery twin! Yes, you said it! On the other side of "through" waits VICTORY!

It’s been a long road. My first consultation was December 2020. I’m so ready for surgery. I think if I got a date I could start preparing.

Wow! I've been on my journey since February 2021. I'm so glad I now I have a date. I was denied by my insurance after 5 months of pre-op appointments so I'll be going to Mexico.
