    4th fill

I had my 4th fill today and boy can I tell a difference. Anything more than a sip is coming back up. I hope after this one relaxes in a few days that I am at my sweet spot. The Dr told me I didn't need to come back anytime soon unless I felt like I needed to. I started a new job last week and this week I'm working my regular hours of 3 to 11. I'm pretty beat right about now. Gotta get used to this new schedule. I plan on being able to go to the Y in the mornings. Well it's about time for me to head home. later.

I have allergy testing on Tues so I'm aiming to start going to the Y again on Wed once I can take my meds again. Didn't want to catch anything this week while I was vulnerable, can't take my meds for a week prior to the testing.

    3 months

I just realized that today is 3 months since banding. I've been so tired ~ exhausted that I almost forgot. I've been on prednisone for the last week and suffering a couple of "minor" side effects from it. I got real sick with my asthma, didn't realize how bad it was. I have 3 more days of pills but I think I'm going to stop taking them...I know, I know...I should finish them but I can't take the exhaustion, headaches or joint pain (in my ankles and legs mostly) any longer. I'll try to take my 3 month picture soon. Right now I'm just waiting for the washer to stop so I can put the clothes in the dryer and then go to bed.

Has anyone heard of this Acai Berry Juice

There was an article in the March/April 09 issue of Clean Eating Magazine about the Acai and Goji berries. The jist of the article was that while it has some great benefits that it is frequently mixed with other things, including sugar and to make sure that the first ingredient on any label lists the berry first; Ideally, it should be 100% fruit juice. It goes on to say that they can be quite expensive and you could spend that on great local produce and that most of the superfruits are either dried or juice and are more concentrated calories. The bottom line is that blackberries, cherries, blueberries and purple grapes are also chock full of anthocyanins and antioxidants. Hope this helps.
  10. I'm down 1 pound, it was 2 a couple of days ago but I'll take the 1. Only 4 more days of this nasty pill.... I have been exhausted, another side effect I believe as well as having some pretty bad headaches. And I can't take anything for them, ugh. I just keep telling myself only a few more days.
  11. I couldn't get on either, happens from time to time.

Do you have a December Date?

Hang in there everyone. Welcome Drew. Sue, I'm glad you get to discontinue one of your meds, that's great news. Vickie, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. JoannMarie, I hope your knee and foot are feeling better. Trina, it's almost time for that next fill. I had my 3rd fill last week and I could barely swallow the water in the office but I knew from the last 2 fills that it would relax real quick and sure enough it did. I do get full faster and I've been getting stuck some and pd'd a few times but that's because I'm not paying enough attention and usually trying to eat too much still. I've started grabbing smaller bowls so I can't put too much in. I've been hungrier which I'm guessing is a side effect of the prednisone I'm on. So far no gain, but not much loss. I just want to make it through these 10 days without gaining. Hopefully I can start back to the gym next week. I haven't been able to go for 3 weeks now. I start a new job next week and have to figure out a new schedule.
  13. I've been really short of breath and coughing a lot for about a week and a half, ever since I was outside with my son having his senior pictures taken. It was very windy and cold that day and I think that's what set off this attack. I haven't been able to go to the gym, just walking across the house winds me, so I made an appt with my allergist. The guy I really liked is no longer there so I have a new lady. At least she read my file before she came in the room, unlike my PCM who never reviews anything, he's even the one that gave me the referral for the band and I have to remind him each time I see him. I think I will like her too. She was very concerned because my pulse-ox was very low when I got there, 83 (normal is between 95-100). After she listened to the lungs I had to do an albuterol treatment with the nebulizer. I finally got my level up in the mid 90's but I told the nurse if I didn't concentrate it kept falling and I shouldn't have to work so hard to breathe. I was prescribed prednisone for 10 days as well as to do 4 nebulizer treatments a day (more if needed) and I was sternly talked to about not using my CPAP at night. I get supplemental oxygen with it and haven't been using it. She put a call into the medical supply company to bring me something so I can use the oxygen machine without the CPAP if I need to. I asked her was the prednisone going to make me gain weight, she said for only 10 days it shouldn't but I should watch my salt and sugar intake while I'm taking it. I really hate having to take steroids. I guess I have also been taking some of my medications incorrectly and got instructions on that. I have to go back on Thurs and will probably get some blood work done but for what, I don't know. I'll ask her then and I will also have to go do those fun lung function tests again and when I'm better I have to get the flu and pneumonia shots. I'll probably have to get tested for allergies again at some point and maybe do allergy shots again. I asked my PCM months ago if my asthma meds were working ok because I didn't feel like they were. He pretty much dismissed me. At least the allergist said we will see if we might need to make some changes once I'm back under control. Living at a high altitude doesn't help any either. I just want to be able to go to the gym again and hopefully not gain any weight from this ordeal. PS. I'm in the process of selling my house in TX and it has been stressful ~ offer, counter, counter back...etc and now I'm putting a new roof on it..... It's been on the market since May '07 and I'm just glad to finally be selling it, it has been rough making the mortgage and paying rent here. Maybe some of this stress coupled with that cold wind is what sent me on that downward spiral. and I have the hubby trying to add his 2 cents from Iraq...yikes. I can't wait until Mar 10 for closing!

    Changes

A couple of good things ~ I got a new job. My old job was at a credit card call center. Not the job for me although I did stick with it for a year and a half. I finally got a civil service job again....getting back into the system, yea! plus it's a wee bit more money and it's closer to home. Also, we've had our house in TX for sale since May '07 and finally , finally got an offer. We've got everything ironed out (we have to put a new roof on but insurance will cover most of it I hope, my deductible is huge). It will be so great to not have to struggle each month to make a mortgage plus rent. Closing is set for Mar 10. I bought some new PJ's on clearance the other day and the largest size was XL. I bought them because I'll be able to wear them soon but I decided to try them on when I got home, just to see how tight they were and THEY FIT. Woo Hoo! I'm almost out of plus sizes. As of this morning I have lost 41 lbs. 25 more lbs til onederland.

  16. Hey ya'll....everyone is doing so good, I was a little disappointed that I had on lost 4 lbs in the 3 weeks between my dr appts but he was happy so I guess my expectations can sometimes be a little high. I am down 3 lbs this week, had my 3rd fill and have been on mostly liquids since Wed. I did eat an egg for lunch. We'll see how it goes next week after I start eating real food again.

    8 Weeks/2 Months Post Op

Wow ~ look at that difference. You're doing great.
  19. I got my 3rd fill today so I have a total of 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I was worried it was a little tight, I could barely swallow afterward, but I know from the previous 2 that it relaxes pretty quick so I told the Dr it was all good. I had a cup of chicken broth for dinner and it went down fine. This one hurt a bit. I don't know if the numbing agent didn't have a chance to do it's job or what but man I felt everything. The Dr said he thinks maybe we will be there with this one or maybe one more fill. I go back again in 3 weeks. I had only lost 4 lbs in the last 3 weeks, I was hoping for 2 lbs a week but hey, it's going down. I've noticed the last few days that my pants are starting to get baggier. I tried on my next smaller jeans about a week ago and they are still too tight so I didn't try anything else. I stopped at Walmart to get some liquid motrin (the fill was throbbing every now and then and a little bit of a sting still) and I wanted some new PJ's. Mine are swallowing me right now. I found some on clearance but they were an XL. I went ahead and bought them because they were $5 (actually $2.50 at the checkout) and I knew I would fit in them soon. I also got a new pair of knit workout pants also in XL. Didn't think either would fit but I decided to try them on anyway. Guess what? They both fit. I couldn't believe it. It's been ages since I could wear an XL and not even a plus size. So I had to go shopping in the back of the closet again. All my 18W pants fit now. I have a couple of reg 18's that are still a bit tight but I have another 4 pair of pants to wear and can add the baggy ones to the give away box. I started out wearing a very tight 22 (probably should have been wearing 24) and lots of knit pants. I also dug out the next smaller undies because those were getting baggy too. Woo Hoo!

I've been watching the biggest loser this year and the brown team was doing what you are....cutting their calories really low and barely losing at all and they are in the gym hours and hours everyday. Bob, the trainer, really got onto them and told them to eat more calories and low and behold, next weigh in they have good losses. I think as long as you eat "good" calories, ie Protein and whole food and not junk, you can go higher without worrying, maybe not quite to 1500 but in doing thread searches here, people who run or do lots of exercise eat that much because the body needs the fuel.

I had another thought ~ are you getting enough protein? I know you keep track of your calories but are you tracking your protein intake as well?

China, Maybe you're not eating enough calories. If you workout alot, you need more than 1000-12000....you probably need closer to 1500 or so a day. Your body could be going into starvation mode. Try that for a few days and see if that helps. :mad2:

Looking good girl .... woo woo!
  24. Welcome to our little corner dietpeach. We actually already have a spreadsheet going and I'd be happy to add your info. We are also doing a monthly challenge on the same spreadsheet if you want to participate just let us know. The link to the spreadsheet is in my signature ~ How low can you go.... the info we have is highest weight preop diet starting weight surgery weight current weight then it tracks you total weight lost along with weight lost since surgery. then on the monthly challenges we ask for goal you want to lose for the month (ie: 10 lbs) and your starting weight and then you weigh once a week and we've been posting that on this thread http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f284/how-low-can-you-go-09-weightloss-challenge-1-a-84413/
