  1. I got you added to the spreadsheet. You'll see a link in my signature....how low can you go....just click on it and it should open up for you. Welcome to the group.
  2. I lost 3 lbs this week. I went Fri and got a slight unfill. I just never did loosen up enough since the last fill a month ago. I wasn't getting enough calories and getting pretty tired of soup. I feel so much better already and hope this will help me be more consistent with losing.

    short term goal for May

My birthday is coming up and I also found out my hubby will be coming home for his R&R leave mid May instead of later in the summer. So I would like to be in onederland by then. That gives me 6 weeks. I'm going to be super diligent about my eating and get back on the exercise wagon. I CAN do it! Only 14 pounds to go.

    garden fever

I love to garden. I haven't had a garden since I left WA state in 2002. Haven't had a space to garden other than a couple of flower pots. We moved into a new house last Nov and I noticed there is a community garden that I drive by everyday. I contacted them awhile back but never heard anything. My backyard has no space for a garden nor does it get enough sun. I got an email today offering me a garden plot. Woo Hoo! I'm so excited. I promptly started looking at seed catalogs online. I got a few plants and some seeds ordered. Being here in CO it's too late for me to start any tomato or pepper plants from seed so I had to order those as plants. As I was looking at all this online, it was snowing outside. Puts a little damper on the spring fever but not much.

    4 Months!!!

I made myself an album but here is my 4 mth pic update:
  8. I am down 2 pounds this week. Debi, on the other side of the coin...you want to make sure you are eating enough calories. If you eat too few, your body will hold on and you won't lose weight. I think that's been part of my problem the last couple of weeks since my last fill. I'm gonna give it to the end of the week to see if I can eat more. I have been able to eat some more this past week.

sue, that's get you can get rid of the extender. Well, I don't have much to add yet. I am wearing misses size 18/XL now...no more plus sizes. Yay! My Dr did say a couple weeks ago to come back in a couple of months to see if we can cut down on my HBP meds or sooner if I start getting dizzy or lightheaded. I did decide to change PCM's...mine is an idiot and I have to tell him everything everytime I go in...he can't be bothered to look at my chart or remember anything about me so I went and requested a different PCM. Hopefully she will be better. I did take my 4 mth pics and I'm starting to see a waist again. I'll post it soon.

    4 Months!!!

    YAY Pete. Way to go!!!
  12. I took my one month photos today. Hard to believe it's been just over 4 weeks already. I'm feeling good and seem to be having more energy. I was working on purging my closet before I finish unpacking (we moved just before my surgery). I managed to get the living room/kitchen pretty much done before surgery, then I was recovering and couldn't lift or move much, then Christmas so I'm finally getting to my bedroom. How are all the other first weekers doing? I can't wait to see the changes another month will bring....
  13. I'm holding steady this week, no loss. I got the last few updated on the sheet. Keep up the good work everyone.

Apnea and will NOT use Cpap

My hubby had the surgery a few years ago. He went into it knowing that there was a 50/50 chance of it helping his sleep apnea, unfortunately he was on the wrong 50%. He still snores horribly just different sounds. He has a CPAP and wears the full face mask. I had my sleep study in Dec 2007 because I complained of restless legs and my pcm ordered it. I had no daytime sleepiness or other signs of apnea but came away from that experience being told I don't have restless legs (just because I didn't have an episode that night) and that I had to use a cpap. The sleep study was never explained to me. I also have to have supplemental oxygen with it because my oxygen level dips too low when I fall asleep. I tried to wear it and had built up to keeping it on a few hours a night then quit using it. I had gotten a copy of my sleep study when putting together my packet for the insurance approval. There was a note from the dr that reviewed it and from what I can figure out is that I have a very mild case and mostly need the oxygen, he wrote a note that if CPAP wasn't tolerated that I just need the oxygen and then what pissed me off was that he wrote there was no evidence of restless legs but that I could still need treatment for daytime RLS. My PCM told me none of this. I went into denial about the CPAP and didn't wear it for months. I got really sick with my asthma in Feb. My oxygen level was so low. My allergist really read me the riot act for not using the cpap w/oxygen. I got a nasal canula from the med. supply company and tried to use the cpap again but was having trouble tolerating it. I was able to sleep with the canula and get the oxygen I need. I am using an autopap right now for 2 weeks to see what levels I need so they can adjust my cpap, I think maybe it's too strong and that's why i can't wear it. I've been doing pretty good with the autopap. I hate to admit it but I can tell a difference when I sleep with the oxygen. It does take some getting used to and I made little fleece covers for the straps that go across my checks. I would still like to have my sleep study explained but I don't think my PCM has a clue. My allergist said that I should do another sleep study after I lose more weight to see if I still need the cpap or just the oxygen. They seem to think that our altitude here complicates things as well. Hopefully when I move back to TX in a couple of years it won't be such an issue.

I recently joined facebook too. I've had a couple of friends find me that I've lost touch with. I need to learn more about it, I've only done basic stuff so far.

Greek Yogurt - Gimme the scoop

I do this but with splenda instead of the honey...I might have to try the honey next time. I look for the highest protein/lower carb granola. It does stick with you for a long time and it's so creamy.

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

I love to see all the NSV's. I pulled down the 2 tubs in the top of my closet that have too small stuff in them, thought maybe I could find a blouse or two but I was able to get into a couple of pairs of pants, some skirts, pj's and lots of tops. Woo Hoo!! I was getting low on stuff to wear. I did buy 2 pairs of pants on clearance last weekend. I won't pay full price for anything right now. My rings are getting too loose, can't wear my wedding rings right now and my anniversary ring has moved from my left ring finger to the right ring finger and now to the left middle finger. Pretty soon I may not be able to wear it at all but I don't want to have them sized until I'm near goal. I don't like not having something on my ring finger though. Also had to order some new shoes. Went down a 1/2 size. I searched everywhere for some I liked but haven't had any luck so I broke down and ordered some.
  18. I'm down 3 pounds this week, 1 pound away from -50. Everyone have a great day.

    Oral Steroids???

I also just finished a round of prednisone for lung inflammation, I have asthma and it got really bad very quickly. My surgeon wasn't concerned but did ask me if I had any trouble with reflux and said I might have some Water retention. I already take prilosec twice a day so that kept my stomach from being upset. My allergist told me to put the pill in a small spoonful of yogurt to help mask the taste...didn't hide the taste much at all... I've had a few side effects, some after I was already finished taking the pills. I was supposed to take them for 10 days but only did 7. I was having some joint pain but I was so lethargic I could hardly function and you would think being so tired I could sleep, but no, had to have the insomnia part too. Had some pretty bad headaches as well. I was ravenous at times....ate the crap out of SF popcicles just trying to keep the calories down but be able to eat something. I didn't gain any weight but I didn't lose any for a couple of weeks, retained some water. My face did break out just a little but the worst is the last 3 days I've had some itching in the private area (if you know what I mean) took me til yesterday to realize I had a yeast infection and then I realized I was getting sore areas on my tongue, looks like I probably have thrush too. I googled and found that yes, being on steroids can lead you to having either and I had to get both. I think I'll go to the clinic tomorrow because I can't take this anymore and I think I need more than an over the counter treatment. I know that the drug does some amazing good....I can breathe again now, but I just don't know why it has to have such nasty side effects. Hope ya'll don't have any of them to deal with.
  20. Yes I did. Jody and I played lots of phone tag.... Because I have Tricare and have access to some military facilities, I was able to use the nutrition clinic on post and I got a referral for the psychologist and I didn't have to use their group and pay that extra $$$. The disadvantage with the nutrition clinic was that it was all geared for bypass because they don't do lap bands on post. I've gotten lots of useful info here though that helped me with dietary requirements. Everyone at the office has just been great to deal with. The hospital staff was great too when I had the surgery. Hope she calls you back quickly and you get your consults done. All in all for me, I started my journey in July and had my surgery in Dec....seems like it took forever but mostly it was due to having to wait for referrals and appointments.
  21. I was banded by Dr Scott Fisher in the Colorado Springs Center of Excellence and have had a wonderful experience. I would recommend him to anyone.
  22. I think I got everyone added and updated ... I am down 4 pounds this week, I got a fill on Wed and maybe I'm finally releasing some of that water weight I retained from the steroids. Keep up the good work everyone!

    Learning Curves

I'm having to learn some things with this latest fill. I was able to eat a few bites last nite but they have to be tiny, tiny, tiny....and sips of fluid must also be tiny, tiny, tiny. It is hard for me to imagine that I would be full after about 3 bites but for right now, that's what it is. If I try and push it, I burp, have the hiccups and then PB and slime. I was trying to have something soft today but I think I'll go back to soups and protein drinks for the rest of the day, maybe even tomorrow. I have to make sure I'm getting enough protein. Off to get ready for work now.

I'm so jealous! I am so happy for you, that's great news. I'm supposed to be getting an autopap for a couple of weeks to see if my setting on the cpap needs to be adjusted.
