It’sMe got a reaction from GreenTealael in New bf - to share or not about past WLS
    Hi all
I am 3.5 years out from a gastric sleeve. I lost 75 pounds and am happy with how things have gone, and am grateful to have my sleeve as a tool for my health. I don’t have any major skin folds or lots of sagging besides what would be expected of a 40 year old mother. I have a boyfriend whom I have been seeing for 2 years now and I have never told him about my WLS. I never really intended to as I feel it is private and not something I really want to share. He loves my body (maybe more than I do), and is a great partner in many ways.
He comes from a large family who eats gigantic food portions and he was always taught to clear his plate. He is constantly making comments about my food and how much or how little I may eat, how I don’t drink my Water during dinner, or if I don’t finish my food and save it for later. It honestly drives me crazy and I have communicated this to him. Part of me wonders if he would better understand if I share about my WLS, but another part of me things he would be horrified and not understand at all.
What do you think? Should I tell him? I don’t understand why other people have to focus so much on my plate. I honestly can eat normal portions of food if it’s the right food (veggies go down very easily, but things like rice or potatoes are quick fillers).
    Thanks for your advice.

You are so worthy of this and so much more. You are enough. You are important. You are deserving of so many good things. 💜 Even without the surgery you are worthy of all the good things. I’m sorry you are having delays. Keep going! You can do this!

I lived on carbs. Still do. The trick is avoiding overly refined carbs. Avoid processed sugar and white flour like the plague. Avoid white rice. Carbs that are huge in my diet include oatmeal, potatoes both white and sweet, brown rice, black Beans, beans of any kind really, eat beans they're nutritionally wonderful, chickpeas, whole fruit.
I count calories, get my protien and Fiber, but I never count carbs. A lot of my protien comes from plant based sources like potatoes and beans, so limiting unrefined carbs would never work for me.
Lot of different paths up the mountain.

It’sMe reacted to SummerTimeGirl in When will the stall end??
My first stall was around 2/3 weeks out and it lasted like 12 days. Then I started to lose again. I feel like I've been in another stall and have been for the past week+ as I've not lost anything additional in that time.
But based on info here and what my dietician and surgeons office have said, I'm doing everything right and I need to stay on plan cause I will start losing again. This is normal and happens to most everyone. You're probably no different.
Great news about the meds. That is ultimately my goal too, to be taken off of it all. At my two week checkup I was cut back on my BP meds too and taken completely off the one. Now we'll see in Sept. if they will be reduced again along with my Metformin.

It’sMe got a reaction from MandM1188 in Questions to ask your surgeon pre-op
Hello - I’m scheduled for a gastric sleeve at Blossom Bariatrics later in June. I have done a lot of research and they have a lot of educational materials/videos that they have provided. However, I know I do not know everything, and am trying to prepare.
What questions did you ask your surgeon pre-op? I’m making a list and would love to know what you found helpful to ask. Thanks!

@Drinkwine28 and @Iluvbats I’m with you on it being HARD! I posted earlier because I was so excited I did it (surgery 6/21) and was feeling good. This is post op day 4 and now I’m feeling lots of things. 🙃 Still have pain from hernia repair (minor but annoying), weird bubbly tummy that sometimes feels like hunger growls - but isn’t, and feel gassy.
I have major head games happening. My brain will not stop thinking about all sorts of junk food - even food that I didn’t really care about before (it’s like a junk food slide show in my head).
I am on a liquid diet the first two weeks and can then introduce softer foods slowly. I’ve been having lots of Water, Gatorade zero, Protein Drinks, and tried some broth. I’m fantasizing about those eggs and cottage cheese among other things! 🤤 I am keeping a journal and telling myself that I can’t give into my brain games the first 6 months. I think being able to chew will help in the future. It has to get better, right?
    We can do this!

I did it! Surgery was this week and it went well. I am on day two post op and feel ok. Not 100% but better than I was. Can’t believe it’s complete and now I’m excited for the next few months. Good luck to those having surgeries soon!

Good luck on your surgery! I’m nervous about the nausea. I do like all of the blossom videos though. I think those are helpful! I’ll be thinking of you!

Just another onederland post. 198.4 this morning on the seven month anniversary of my surgery date. 140 down total. Feeling great, no longer obese, and 33.4 lbs from goal!

It’sMe reacted to SummerTimeGirl in Questions to ask your surgeon pre-op
I asked a lot of stuff that was pretty much answered in the videos I had to watch (and take tests on) afterwards and in the binder that was sent to me. But these are some of the things I asked (some may seem silly but it was all new to me lol).............

    Various types of surgery?
    Which is best for me?
    How long does it take?
    How many days in hospital?
    How many holes in stomach?
    Medication after surgery?
    How many have you performed?
    Mortality rate?
What tests need to be done prior?
What makes the surgery work when dieting and exercise never has?
Will it fix my PCOS and Insulin Resistance?
Does insurance cover all the pre-testing as well as the surgery?
Time line of stuff to be done until we get to surgery?
    What does my Insurance require?
    Recovery questions:
How worried do I need to be about the insides coming undone?
Do the staples inside the stomach stay forever or does the stomach sort of mend itself together?
OK to get future MRI w/staples (if they remain in the stomach)?
How often do I need to worry about getting up and walking as to avoid blood clots?
How long after surgery before you can exercise w/bike, swimming, weights, etc.?
    Hair loss?
Will I continue taking my medication as usual?
What pain meds, tylenol, etc can I take afterwards?
How long after until you can have sex?
    Post Op
What would be my goal weight? I am personally comfortable with ..... (I gave 180).
How long will digestion take/how long does it take food to empty from stomach afterwards?
What will my stomach capacity be short and long term?
    supplements for life?
    Alcohol use after?
    Fears
    Fear of death.
Fear of losing too much/looking older.
Fear of problems down the road.
Right now carbs and sugar stop me from losing weight and whenever I try lose I always know to avoid those foods. Once I have the surgery, will I be able to eat foods that I currently stay away from such as whole wheat, oatmeal, fruits, certain rice, Beans, etc. Things that are normally a part of any other persons normal, healthy diet?

Hi - Congratulations on your journey so far! You could also maybe try garage sales or estate sales? There are a lot of those this time of year where I live. Also, I’ve heard positive things about poshmark but have never used them myself.
