  1. I find chewing chewing, chewing up the food into a spitty enzymesque paste is quite disgusting. But since we have to do it, This whole thing must work. Who likes deacidisized vomit?? I never realized how much I use to just wolf my food down

    September Bandsters

I never really got a chance to tell any of my details from when I was banded on september fifth. I guess I have just been so over welmed. I was banded by Dr. elliot fegelman in Cincinnati Ohio at Jewish Hospital. I have medical mutual insurance and the process took from april (collecting everything I needed) to get to my band date of september 5th. I didnt really get to see the doctor often, which wasnt really what I liked -- but the nurses and staff at jewish hospital are amazing. They even sent me a personalized card. I got a private room (after FIVE HOURS in recovery). and I stayed the night. I have been in chronic pain forever, so I was up at walking right after I got out of surgery. Pain, doesnt get to me, like it may have gotten to me before I had rheumatoid arthritis. Not eating has been killer for me. My incisions are really high up. Everyone anatomy is different. My highest incision is around my sternum area between my breasts. the port incision was larger than expected. I can see that I will have a permenant scar (but I am african american).. it looks like the stitching of it, and the length of it may be bigger than usual from what I have seen on LBT. He had no complications with my liver (even though I did a horrible job on the PreOp diet). But I am younger, and my weight gain is fairly recent I suppose. (gained 70 lbs in two years). I lost a lot of weight pretty quickly. and right now i am REALLY REALLY struggling with my post op diet. I have done tons of research, including recently viewing the LB procedure on video. I am still having a difficult time. around 1 1/2 weeks post op i had a mushie (not much of a mushie. But yet, a mushie). I was getting literally sick off of my Protein shakes. I posted about this. the smell of them make me want to vom, so I am just not drinking them. I have had smoothie brand high protein chai tea's, and mashed up Beans, and yogurts (which are allowed). pudding, lots of my Vitamins. nothing rough. But I have been ice creaming. its been really difficult to stay over 1000 calories. this is my first few days getting over 1000 calories in. My hunger factor is in full strength now. But I am very careful eating and drinking. I sleep on my port although its painful. i cant get my ticker to work, but im at 229 now
  4. Hi Guys, I have only been banded for about nine days, and I cant stand the look, and the SMELL of slim fast, or Protein powder. I just cant. I almost threw up today. I havent been getting much protein maybe thirty grams. Any creamy, milky anything is making me just sick. I hate it. I wont even take coffee I also take medication and its been making it difficult for me crushing up those FOUL medications and then having to take it like that. any suggestions?

Help!!! Does anyone have Medical Mutual?

HI I was JUST banded, and I DO have medical mutual of ohio. I had no problem getting approved, however I did go through all of the stuff that they asked. My bmi was just under 40, but I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, and did do six months of weight watchers. once you do it, you should be approved. It takes a month, from time of submisssion to approval

    That Little Checkmark

As long as its not too ridiculous, a few spelling errors dont make a difference. It shows a persons personality, background, education -- and in a forum environment I think I would appreciate that a little more than reading a buncha proper english. I dont use excessive slang, but if i spell which, as witch, or whatever or whatev I think its truely my per-rog-ga-teeve

    new guy

I have been on a gluten free diet since early june and I have seen that it seems to help with the R.A part of it. Its a difficult diet, but I have lost some weight on it. GF is definitely not just for celiacs. Im really not sure about the wholething. I read that R.A is caused by leaky gut syndrome which ahppens when people have had lifetime poor eating habits and weird genetics. Then the body makes some bad white blood cells that are faulty and it starts attacking the joint lining. I tried the halluyah diet (WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE ON CONSISTS BASICALLY OF BEETS, AND CABBAGE)... but it put me in remission, i just got SOO weak.

    PreOp chaos

hi guys, it seems like its been forever since I have posted last. After i found out that I was accepted to have the surgery, all my enthusiasm about it seemed to go down the tube.. (i know.... that doesnt make any sense) i had a ton of high expectations of what kind of things I would have to do pre-op because of you guys, but all I got was a lousy 5 minutes( more like three minutes) with a dietician who told me to have shakes, salads, yogurts and leaner meats pre op. I have had everything from barbque ribs, to indian food, frosting, to whatever, on top of my slim fasts and everything. I havent really been able to force my real feelings up to the surface. My surgery is september 5th, about five days away. there was no real requirements, but they did expect me to lose weight and i havent lost a pound... do you think they will cancel me out? why cant i stick to the diet?

    Is it too late now?

hey about being in chronic pain and lack of exercise. I know exactly how you feel! I have severe RA, and I can barely walk many days. However, my recent solution to this (something I use to say "i dont want to hear it to" is learning how to swim. Recently I learned to swim due to a job. I also have gotten steroid shots in both of my knees and my ankles in order to function better. I also dont exercise in the morning or the evening. Thats when the pain is best. Take tylonel, vicadin, or whatever you have to do, put heat on the area, and ice and get in the pool. Also recently I shelled out a thousand dollars for a top of the line elliptical machine that has very little to no impact on my joints, unlike a treadmill. Goodluck!

Hi! I'm trying to take vicodin

i also take vicadin regularly for chronic pain! eeeee your scaring me :-D

    I ache all over!

I dont have an answer to exactly why, but try warming some moist towels, and draping them over the area -- interchange with ice if needed too. Fill a bath tub up with salts and lay in it. Try a heating pad. If the muscle strain isnt relieved in a week I would ask a doctor
  19. I was recently approved for Doctor Fegelman at Jewish Weight Management Center in Cincinnati Ohio. I dont have a date yet though. Its over near Kenwood Mall they accept a large variety of insurances, and the center has an impressive after care program

  23. Hi guys, ive been actively with you since march. I just found out that I have been approved for lap band today and boy am I excited!!!! I cant believe it. I am so thankful to God for giving me this opportunity after I thought everything was taken away (I had lost sixty pounds in college, and then gained seventy back when I got rheumatoid arthritis having a year of loss of mobility). I am in pain everyday with every step I take. I hope that losing some of this weight will improve the pain I feel on my ankles and all the other joints everyday. My insurance company, medical mutual of Ohio is strict and boy am I blessed by god to have gotten approval on the first try RA is a very strong, but not listed comorbidity. It is an auto immune disease. I am happy. if anyone needs any more information about medical mutual let me know I am with dr fegelman at the jewish weight management center in cincinnati ohio
