My surgery date is June 21st! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow for two weeks. I'm ready for this new journey but nervous...mostly about this preop diet 😂

June surgery here too! Just got my insurance approval and I’m scheduled for June 21st! So excited! Bring it on 😊

I think it is helpful to spend quiet time with yourself, get lots of rest and I listened to some guided imagery/meditation that Kaiser hospital has posted on their website. I've done this prior to surgery before and I honestly think it helps me recover more quickly. As to the nail polish, your blood oxygen levels are monitored via your fingertips and nail polish can interfere with their readings. But, you know what? When you get out of the hospital and have recovered a bit, you can take yourself for a mani/pedi and treat yourself to some lovely self care to go with your new journey. Hi Everyone and especially fellow June surgery folks,
I had surgery around 5:30ET and I have to say I’m surprised with how well I’m feeling. I won’t lie; the nausea was pretty bad but nurses were spectacular in helping with that, so it’s about 80% better. Pain and gas levels are not that bad. I’ve been getting up every hour or so to walk but now go8ng to change tha5 to every two hours.

June 23rd! Getting ready!

I was originally scheduled for Dec 21. Then corona spiked and all surgeries were cancelled. They started reopening in February but i had to wait for a break at work. Now my date is June 21st. I was mad and disappointed but i will have plenty of recovery time now. I just try to look at the positive side. I did let myself have a moment back in December. I have been working on my own to loose some weight in the meantime.

I am waiting to head to surgery as I type! I’m feeling quite anxious! Yikes!

On another good note, my hospital system cancelled my covid test since I’m fully vaccinated and they could prove it through the state vaccination database. Whoo-hoo!! As of yesterday they no longer require it in a case like mine!!!

@ShoppGirlthanks for the suggestion. I did call, but, there is no room in his schedule in the next two weeks. I'm working to trust the process and moving forward.
I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow and decided it was finally time to tell my parents and kids about my surgery on 6/11. The kids went as expected with a few questions and lots of support. My mom completely surprised me with her reaction. She said she thought it was a great decision, that she was happy for me and that she had no doubt I would be successful. The very next thing she said was "how can we help?" I about broke down in tears. I had been so nervous about telling her and it turns out she is my biggest supporter. It feels so nice to not have that stress on my shoulders any more. By telling those closest to me I found the biggest support system. I'm beyond thankful it all worked out like that!

Just got my date of June 21st! The medical office just submitted my paperwork earlier this week and I was approved already and I am so thankful. Between now and then I have to lose 14 pounds, so I am laser-focused and it is a good distraction considering the alternative is being overly anxious and nervous about the actual surgery. Glad I found this group to have new friends and have a shared experience!

When are you starting your vlcd diet?

Just finished working my last shift prior to surgery. Monday I get to have a light Breakfast, a Protein Shake for lunch then Clear Liquids thereafter. I have to be at the hospital by 5am Tuesday, June 1st. It’s just crazy how fast the time seems to have passed since my Informational Seminar and first consult!
