Yes I think it finally clicked for me today, and I felt absolutely terrified and alone. Had to pull myself together and distract myself a bit.. starting 10 day milk diet tomorrow. Pray for me haha

Finally got the call today with my admission time (7.30am isn't too bad!) and got the go-ahead for the finance, transferring the deposit made me feel sick. It's real. It's happening. Come on June 12th..

Aw bless you, this made me well up!! I have told just one person who has been very measured and blase in her response, I expect I would be supported by others if I told them but I just don't feel up to sharing. I am so pleased they were all lovely!! I have been really tempted to tell one particular friend, I think she would be amazing and I feel awful lying to her that I'm going in for a hernia surgery. Sorry your surgery got moved last minute, it must be tricky to get your head round but I don't blame you for not wanting to push it til september! I still haven't heard anything, except that mines been bumped from 12th to the 15th - no diet advice, no letter with a date on, no info on isolating, no agreement on finance. I rang and they say ah yes, its all in hand, you'll receive it on time... well its a bank holiday in the UK this weekend, so if its not been sent today, its unlikely to be sent til next tuesday.. which is a fortnight before my surgery and feels a bit nervewrackingly close! GAH! I worked in hospital admin and children's nutrition for years, its not that bloody hard to send a photocopied dietsheet in the post 🙈 lol Got to keep smiling and trust the process.. finally stopped raining here and I've been finding gardening very therapeutic and distracting. Any one got any other good distraction tips for pre-surgery jitters?

My date has just been bumped from 12th to the 15th...going to try to reorganise care, dogsitting and work.. fingers crossed it will be ok! Nervous again today and not really focussing on work...

I started drafting an email yesterday and thought - hang on if they take the time to reply to me, then I'll just be putting them further behind! Today I am back feeling REALLY EXCITED!

Other than a phone call 6 weeks ago to tell me my date was June 12th, I've heard nothing from the hospital since (except when I called back to ask how long my LRD should be). I am in UK and paying privately, have no idea when my pre-op is, what my particular surgeon recommends for LRD, feel really scared and this isn't helping. Feel like I can't plan for what I need - and I like to plan! Trying to not let the anxiety eat me alive haha... ha.. 😱 Took some 'before' photos yesterday... That was a good motivation, to remind me I'm making the right decision!!

I have been recently focusing more on the long term (better health outcomes) and the practicalities of my surgery date (booking time off work & dog-sitter!) But I am worried I am not going to cope in the month or two following surgery with the fatigue and adjusting to new ways of eating and drinking. All my surgeon says is research more! And then when I have too many questions about malabsorption he said I had read too much hahaha.. it's really hard to know how it will be for each individual. I am scared as I am self-funding mine that I will be in debt for a procedure that won't work / goes wrong. But I have faith in my surgeon and can't go on like this.

Really sinking in now. Booked the time off work afterwards and revisited my hospital bag (so far earplugs, eye mask, lip balm, mouth wash, face wipes..) Found out today the LRD will 'only' be 10 days for me, not sure what yet - milk or just restricted calories. I've only told one friend I'm going in for this so easy to feel like it's not really real.. she's been equal parts supportive and overbearing bless her. Glad to find a community here.
