  1. Hi all,

Today is my one year anniversary, I've lost about 100 lbs and have been maintaining between 166-170. Anything less and I look to gaunt, so I'm happy where I'm at. I still start each day with a Protein Shake and tend to eat the same meals, but I enjoy them and don't get tired of eating the same things. A lot of fruit and veggies, very little carbs. Somedays I seem to eat more than usual and others very littler, with the high cost of food it's nice to not have to buy all the Snacks and processed food I used to eat. Sometimes I feel guilty of not telling others how I lost it but it none of their business. I feel much better and no longer take blood pressure meds. John..

  2. Hi all, 1 month post surgery today, I've lost 40 lbs overall , 20 since surgery. I've been experiencing the dreaded 3 week stall, its frustrating but not unexpected with all the forums about it out there. I started riding my bike again, I don't like walking and started a at home exercise regime. Doing yard work is my best exercise! I'm trying to get more than 600 calories a day, it's tough when I'm not hungry, I've been focusing on getting Protein. I don't miss my Diet Dr. Pepper habit, which i thought would be the hardest part. food selection hasn't been too bad, I do like the ricotta bake, I add shrimp and mushrooms. sugar free Jello for Snacks and tons of yogurt. I can start regular foods next week but I don't expect I'll be getting too adventurous until I get further out. . I've had a few colleagues ask me if I've lost weight as my face they see on Teams calls is much thinner, I've told a few and not ashamed by it. We booked a trip to Nassau, Bahamas next month and I look forward to not being the beached whale. Hope you all the best, John..

Hi there! I had my surgery on 5/10 but went to Mexico. There they had me in the hospital for 2 days and then I convalesced at a hotel (resort, actually) for another 2 days - staffed with nurses - before flying home. By the time I needed to board the plane, I was feeling pretty great. Looking back I can't imagine this surgery being outpatient but I am so glad it worked out for you!

I can't wait for pureed foods either! Right now I am drinking Protein Shakes, Decaf herbal tea and Tomato Soup. Sometimes I'll have a SF pudding, Jello or popsicle. I just bought an air fryer and a bariatric air fryer cookbook. I am so ready to move on to actual FOOD! Healthier and smaller portions, of course. :D

How are your incisions doing? Last night I decided to leave the bandages off of all of them except the drain tube hole as that one needs a little more TLC. But they have all scabbed over. No redness, just a little itchy around the incisions.

No issues with incisions, all healing nicely, I didn't have a drain tube. My biggest issue was the shaved hair on my belly going back itching, I guess this isn't an issue for the ladies.

Did anyone else go home same day as their surgery? My surgery is next Friday (5/28) and was told I will be going home the same day about 6 to 7hrs after I hit the recovery room. Wasnt sure if anyone else did this too

I also had out patient surgery 5/10, I was heading home at 3pm and ready to go. Just get up and start walking when they ask you too and take sips of Water. I only took pain meds for 3 days and slept a lot, by day 4 I felt much better. I'm looking forward to getting on pureed foods on Monday 5/24.

  5. I had surgery 5/10, I’m glad I’m past the 3 days post op. There was no way I could get the recommended amount of Water or Protein down. Pain was steady but manageable, I slept a lot. Evening of day 2 the gas was releasing but was never painful. On day 3 I was able to drink a lot more but the protein water doesn’t taste good. Start of day four and I’m back to Protein Shakes and yogurt which is the first real subsidence I’ve had in 5 days. Incisions are healing well also. I’m looking forward to my post op checkup on 5/18 then get to the puréed diet. Good luck all. JMK.

  6. I have 6 days until surgery, the pre-op liquid diet hasn't been that bad as long as I stay busy. We all know what boredom can lead to. On the bright side I don't have to do dishes as often, my grocery bill has gone down and I've saving a ton of money not eating out. The hardest part was quitting Diet Dr. Pepper cold turkey after 3 decades, a few headaches but that's over. (I don't drink coffee). I also went boating without beer, had no idea it was possible. This week I've been focusing on getting a few tasks done I know i won't be able to do for weeks due to the lifting limits. I'm surprised by the varying pre-op diets that are out there, from pure liquid to some soft foods and veggies, I guess my Dr. likes us on the hard road. All you stories and comments are motivating, best of luck everyone. JMK

  7. Hi All, first post, I'm scheduled for May 10th. I took 3 months from the initial visit to realize this is the best course of action for me. Coming from a family history of obesity i don't want to live like this any more. I've started the pre-op diet and am happy to say I've discovered whole new sections of our grocery store. Now just have to figure out what to do with everything in the pantry and refrigerator I can't eat any longer. It's scary but a friend of mine who had it 5 years ago has been a big help. He said you'll wake up and ask yourself what have I done, but at least its not a sex reassignment. 😀
