MokeyHanna reacted to AnnaTM in FEP BLUE BCBS SUPERVISED WEIGH IN QUESTION
I would focus more on your other health conditions. I qualified with a BMI of 36 due to apnea and high cholesterol. FEP BCBS was fairly quick to approve the surgery after it was submitted. I was not required to loose weight before the surgery but I also tried not to gain.

MokeyHanna got a reaction from james2021 in Scared over Ultrasound results
Yes, this really freaked me out. It made me scared to continue with testing for the surgery. I do have two young kids and I had a fearful night based on Google.
Thank you all for your input.

I would ask the doctor what it means. Don't try to figure it out through google. I work in oncology research and I look at medical charts all day and the only thing I won't try to interpret is imaging (MRI/CT/ECHO/etc). I leave that for the MDs. If your doctor doesn't think it's worth bringing up with you then almost certainly it's not clinically significant (meaning it's nothing to worry about). This happens all the time - patients have "abnormal" findings in an organ that are perfectly harmless and just part of normal variations of the body. But don't be afraid to ask your doctor; that's why they get paid the big bucks!

With the disclaimer that I am not a doctor, I did a quick search of both and medullary sponge kidney / medullary nephrocalcinosis don't appear to be kidney disease or anything life threatening. It's good that the ultrasound did not see any kidney stones! I can see them wanting you to do more testing just to be safe, but try not to panic (easier said than done, I know; I've been there).
Medical tests of all kinds pick up on weird stuff that doesn't even exist all the time. I had to take a drug test before my surgery approval and came back 'presumptive positive' for fentanyl which the doctor had never seen before (and I don't take fentanyl, lol), but then they retested the same sample and nothing came back.
