  1. Ok- I'm sure you've all been there before, but any suggestions for a good salty liquid post-op? I'm still on my liquids for hte next 10 days and i am so sick of all the sweet drinks. I've had some broth and tomato Soup. Any ideas for something else?! Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone! 4 days post op and doing MUCH better. I got pretty sick yesterday but it turns out it was from my pain meds. They were too much on my stomach and making me throw up a lot. But now I am on liquid tylenol and feeling so much better! Anyway- looking forward to full recovery and getting back to work! (crazy I know...lol)
  3. Hi there! I just got banded yesterday and had the same concern. My sticky stuff came off on one of my incisions overnight and the doc on-call said that was completely normal when we called. He said to just put a band aid on it. It's not hurting or oozing though. You could jusst tell that it had bled a little overnight. Good luck to you! :scared2:
  4. My first post...POST OP!:scared2: I just got banded yesterday and everyting went GREAT! I ended up losing 11 lbs on my pre-op diet (which was totally unexpected!!!) and my surgeon was very pleased with that. The surgeon was running pretty late that day, but other than that things went off without a hitch. I'm home right now being completely spoiled by my sister. My only tiny concern is with one of my incisions. The sticky glue came off over night on a smaller one and we called the doc on-call and he said that is perfectly normal and to put some bandaids on it. I don't even feel like I have the band in! I'm feeling no restriction or funny feelings. But that could be the pain meds :wink2: Anyway- just wanted to say 'hi' to everyone and let you all know my progress. I hope all you other July 18 bandsters did well yesterday and I'm looking forward to reading your posts. Much love to everyone!!!:biggrin2:
  5. Getting banded TOMORROW! oh my gosh...I can't believe it's finally here. I'm excited/terrified/anxious. Pretty sure these are the normal feelings! Anyway, I cant wait for my next post on here to be POST banding Thank you everyone for your support and prayers!
  6. Hi Everyone! :huh2: I'm getting baptized tomorrow before my surgery on Friday. My pastor first approached me about it and I was worried...thinking- wait?! Are you saying I'm going to die?! But then we talked again and she assured me this was NOT her though process! But instead she wanted me to be more at peace with my decision and go into this surgery with no regrets! Either way- I've been wanting to get baptized in the Lutheran faith for quite some time now. I'm glad to be doing it! Talk about a big week- baptism AND the band. All in one week Prayers at this time are very appreciated. I'm still concerned about something going wrong during surgery. But knowing that I will be with my Heavenly Father if it does makes me feel SO much better! God Bless you all!
  7. WOW! I've never heard that before. But even though he does sound like a smart a$$, he sure does make me feel better!!! lol
  8. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We are all SO SO happy for you!!!!!
  9. wow 57 lbs!!!! That's amazing. Great job! You are such a source of encouragement. Hopefully that will be me in December!
  10. Congrats Teri! And good luck! I'm getting banded this Friday. I'm balancing between being scared AND excited. But I know the outcome will be amazing
  11. Is it ok to take a chewable vitamin during your two weeks post op?
  12. Yes, I am required to love 5-10 lbs before surgery.
  13. Yes- my surgeon asked that I lose between 5-10 pounds before surgery. I've lost about 3... and my surgery is Friday! yikes!
  14. I'm having surgery Friday and the anesthesia is my BIGGEST concern. But I've talked to so many people and it's been very reassuring. My sister was telling me that the anesthesiologist just sits there the whole time to watch YOU. Every vital sign is monitored. You simply go to sleep and wake up banded They are there to make sure you are completely taken care of. We'll both be fine Let us know how it goes!
  15. I would LOVE to come. Count me in! My parents live in Las Vegas- so it's a no brainer for me!
  16. I'm having surgery on july 18 in portland as well! well, actually wa. im assuming we were probably in the same group today at the pre-op class? I was the girl fumbling in late...haha Anyway- all i saw in that room was a group of beautiful, strong people who really wanted to make a change in their lives. And I know YOU are one of those people! You can do this. I can do this! It's going to be the best decision you ever make. Here's to a better day! You've made it this far. Don't doubt yourself now.
  17. I have my pre-op class today and I was just wondering if anyone else has gone to one of these. How long do they take? What should I expect? Either way I'm really excited because it's one step closer to my surgery in 10 days! :tt1: Also, did anyone do slimfast for 10 days before their surgery? I think that's what I will try.
  18. It's a really hard decision to make, I'm self-pay, too. However, when I look at my expenses right now (i.e. medical expenses, food, prescriptions, etc.) I know I will be saving SO MUCH in the end. But the biggest thing I will be saving is my own life!!! (cheesy i know...but still true
  19. Congrats Kiwi!!!! 25 pounds already! way to go
  20. whoo hoo! congrats on your surgery! i hope you continue to feel better and get your energy back  i'm getting banded on July 18, and these posts make me feel so much less nervous!
  21. Hello July! What a great thread. I can honestly say you guys have kept me so excited for this surgery. I go into lapses where I get really scared and ask myself...do I really need this? What am I DOING!? :confused2: But then I read posts and comments on this site and I am not only reminded WHY I am doing this, but that I will be OK So THANK YOU! I am 23, live in Portland OR, and ready to start my life again! I am 5'8'' weighing in at about 250 lbs (biggest I've ever been). I'm looking forward to a new beginning :biggrin2: I've never had surgery before or anesthesia, so that is the only thing that still makes my stomach turn. So yes, please post all of your surgery stories when you can! I cant wait to hear about them! Much love to you all
  22. Hey everyone! I'm 23 and getting banded July 18! I'm really proud of us for getting out there and doing this! My surgeon has told me that being younger definitely helps us stop bad habits early, and is beneficial to our overall recovery and success! yay!
  23. First July bandsters- let us know how everything goes! We are thinking about all of you!
  24. Hey! I am getting banded on the 18th, too! You're going to do great. Actually, WE are going to do great  I am definitely nervous, too. But I think you would be crazy NOT to have reservations before going into surgery. But just look at this board- look at all these people that have had this done! Use them as a resource. They are all the best! Good luck to you! I am getting banded in Portland, what about you?
  25. Oh my gosh this was so incredibly helpful! Thank you SO MUCH!
