  1. What causes a band to slip? I know my surgeon stated constant vomitting can cause slippage. What do you guys think. I appreciate your feedback.

I am sorry to hear that your band slipped. I had surgery 10/31/06 and mine slipped also. I had also last about 75 pounds as the time. I found the slippage in May or June and had the band replaced on 7/17. It was any easy operation and I had no other complications. My insurance approved it almost immediately. The surgery to replace is a little longer than the original surgery, but you will only have the lap holes, no large incisions. I was up an going in about a day and 1/2.

I also had the terrible reflux and slept in a lazy boy for a long time. My troubles stated in February and it took a long time to figure out what was going on for some reason.

I have how lost right at 100 pounds and have only 15 or so to go to get to my goal.

I wish you the best, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. A friend of my at work (we had the same original surgeron) also had her band slip, so we have learned a lot about it.

  2. I have been saying the same thing about starting over and what did I do last night, ate Cookies the entire small box. So far today I have done well so I will just take it one hour at a time. We can do this!!:)

About 5lbs Here. I Went Back To Everything I Did Prior To Having Lap Band. Rather Ashamed Of Myself And Having A Hard Time Getting Back On Track. I Feel Like Every Day I Am Saying I Will Start Tomorrow And Once Tomorrow Is Gone I Say I Will Start Monday. Bad Habits Are Hard To Break.

  3. My challenge for Friday is to not ask my son for a bite of his carryout food, which is what I do so that I don't have to get a meal but still get the satisfaction of just having a very small taste. Friday is usually the day I don't really cook so we shall see. Also, ride my elliptical for a minimum of 20 minutes.

  4. Yes, the majority of time I am tighter in the morning. However, it can reverse to the evenings on occassions. Nothing else happened, I just drank Water, pretty fast and I guess my band did not like it, but I have drank Water fast before and never had this problem. I usuallly drink 64oz before I get to work by 6:30 am ET. I was banded April 2006 and my current total fill amount is 1.6 cc in a 4cc band. Just thought, I am on my cycle and that just might be it. Cramps.:angry

Yup, lotsa folks are tighter in the mornings. Start your day sipping something warm, that should help. Does this tight band last all day? Did something else happen to cause swelling? What's your fill level? It's really helpful to me (others) if you have some band info in your sig...so i know how long you have been banded, how much fill you have and when, your weight, etc. Especially when you ask a question about something that concerns you. More info please! LOL Or, you are just tight in the mornings. Now that you know this (and oh too well, huh?) don't drink too fast!

  5. I have a 4cc band with 3 fills putting me at 1.6 my restriction is excellent as some points, good at some and just ok at other times. I do stay full for very long periods of time but my quantity intake could stand to be a little smaller. Not sure if I should schedule for fill #4 to have a more aggresive approach. I went to visist my family in Ohio last weekend and I did not have the urge or appetite to eat out one time. In previous years I would have use the out of town thing as an excuse to eat out. So that tells me the band is doing something positive. GOODLUCK to you all and lets pray that we all have more patients.

    LOL,

  6. I already had more than six months of Weight Watchers along with my documentation so I did not have to do medically supervised program with my doctor or a nutritionist, which is utimately what holds the process up.

Just wondering on the AVERAGE, how long from when you went to the seminar to actually receiving The Band? I didn't realize it would take so long, I've heard rumors of 6mos - year......Anyone else heard that?

  7. Yes, you definately lose the weight faster but if you are not obedient, you can definately gain the weight back. Look at Al Roker and Randy. Also, I have a co-work who has gained back weight, she still looks alot better but I think that can be just as disappointing as a slow weight loss. Hang in there, we have to be patient!!!!

I have to admit, I do. I have only lost 35 lbs in 8 months. I wish I had had the gastric bypass instead. I don't care if it's not as healthy. Weighing 245 isn't healthy either. I hope that one day I become happy with my decision.

Am I alone here? It seems from these forums that nobody but me would have done it differently.

  8. My husband cheated on me twice. It is the most hurtful experience you could ever go through. The 1st time I ran across his credit card statement with a hotel charged expense (how dumb). I am one that truly believes that what is hidden in the dark shall come out in the light and that is what happened.

The 2nd time he cheated with a married women. The way they met was both of them including me and her husband were in the same wedding party. Believe it or not, the way I found out is because the girl suddenly died and he felt that when that happened GOD was telling him something and he confessed it too me. I had no clue this relationship was going on. Again, done in the dark...comes to the light. We are still together and I have forgiven him but I will never forget nor will I ever let my guard down. It's something that I logged onto this thread as it so relates to my life. Just an hour ago my husband and I were discussing separation. I am just not really happy and his priorities with his free time are not in order. One thing for sure is that he is the best father in the world. What should I do? I want to stay in the house but he said he wanted to stay in the house during the 1 year separation period, if we decide to go through with it. We have an 18 year old leaving for college on August 7th and a 10 year old who loves us both and would be devasted by this. Do you think it is worth it to stay together just for the sake of the children? I don't because if you are not happy how can you make someone else happy.

I have never cheated on him. I think I am a good hard working mother. I have been working for the Fed Govt. for 18 years, I cook, keep the house clean, keep groceries in the fridge, no I am not perfect but I think someone else would appreciate me much more! Advice is needed. Thank you for your honesty. I am trying to make the best decision and way all the options etc.. LOL

  9. Jack, being at a standstill is far better than moving up the scale. I think we including myself need to have more patients. The band is a tool and we did not gain all of this weight overnight and will not lose all of this weight overnight. Though, I am so anxious to see the scale move down faster but I need to make some improvements if I want that to happen. GOODLUCK everyone, we will make it through this storm.

I've lost 8 OUNZES in the past 3 months....sheesh, this means my goal is only 20 years away!!!! SO BE IT, pre band I would have gained 8 pounds in the same time!!!

We are headed in the right direction, and months of 'plateau' is better than going up another size!!!

  10. I have two boys 18 and 10 years old. Thank GOD the 18 year old has worked as a summer intern for the Federal Gov for the past 3 years and the 10 year old is in AAU Basketball and football practice 3 times per week and that is hubby's job to take him. I do attend the games and they are lots of fun. However, there is a small amount of time when we are all home and the two of them like to annoy each other and for that short period of time it drives me crazy. The 18 year is leaving for college the 1st week in August so the house should be really quiet until he comes home for holidays. My deepest sympath for all of you because I know the feeling.

  11. My surgeon's program fee was $500, which covered the nutrionists, personal trainer at his associated gym, support meetings etc. and probably admin fees. To me it was so worth it especially since UHC paid for the surgery. I was actually happy to hand over the $500.

  12. Diane, it is normal for all things in life to be so motivated and excited initially but then the newness wears off. It is just like buying a new car, we tell our kids they can not eat in the car etc....all the rules because the car is new. But, after some months go by, we tend to get less strict with the initial rules we put in place. Hang in there because we all are human and go through the same if not similiar situations in life.
