  1. Depends on if the surgeon did your original surgery they usually give you a bit of a break. Otherwise $12,500.

Revisions are a LOT trickier to do than a virgin sleeve. Leak risks are x3 for a revision. So you really can't go to just anyone, you have to go to a revision surgeon so the cost is more. You need to be in a hospital and not a clinic for a revision, you need to have 3 leak tests, you need to be monitored closely. That really holds true for any sleeve or bypass but especially true for a revision.

Thank you, did Dr. Aceves do your band and sleeve. Is a revision doctor and doctor that does all three wls's.

  2. Hi peechz, is this doctor Francisco Gonzalez in Tijuana? Because my cousin had her sleeve done by doctor Gonzalez in Tijuana and she is doing great. I'm undecided on which surgery to have. I have seen the results with the sleeve but it seems a little too invasive for me. How did you decide between the two?

Hello wanita, Yes Dr. Gonzalez is in Tijuana and he is a great doctor. I got the band but I wish I had gotten the sleeve because its uncomfortable for me to drink and I don't even have a fill yet.

  3. Hi Pecheez!! I had my Lap band surgery on the 30th, too bad we did not meet, maybe we can meet at one of the fills. Ms. Cookie is asking about fills and I know I'll be getting my first one in about two weeks , that is when you have saline or sterile Water injected into the lap band port and the lap band closes causing restriction (so you eat less, obviously).

My surgery went great. I had been nervous at first but after speaking with doctor Gonzalez Just before the surgery he made me he made me feel a little better. There was a lot of confidence in his voice so that helped me a lot.Plus he had just finished a lap band procedure before me so I Knew he was nicely " warmed up" . The clinic is excellent, it seems like they just went trough a major remodel so that it was a very pleasant atmosphere and impeccably clean. The nursing staff could not be nicer, although a couple of the nurses spoke in an English that was a little chopped up, but between my bad Spanish and their broken up English, we managed. The head nurse speaks good English and so do all the doctors. After surgery I had a little discomfort but the Gas X strips helped me quite a bit.I was up and walking three hours after surgery. My night at the clinic was comfortable, they gave me a sleeping pill that knocked me out and I had a chance to rest all through the night. The next morning doctors Gonzalez and Valenzuela came by and gave me my prescriptions and guidelines along with a diet handout , I had gone through this with doctor veronica the nutritionist. I left and was back home in little less than two hours. I would recommend this doctor and his staff to anyone , especially if you are near Tijuana as I am. I have lost 10 pounds since my surgery and I am very happy I did it.

    I will keep you posted.

Hi Beebic, my experience was almost identical. How is things going with your diet? Have you stated mushies yet? What size band did Dr. Gonzalez use for you? I got the 10cm/4cc max capacity. I don't know if I need a fill, I already have restriction. I'm only one week post-op so it might be normal. Are you going back to Mexico for your fills.

  4. Hi all. My surgery is on 2-19 and I have to take a short flight on 2-23 for a 2 day meeting, then fly back.

I'm wondering if anyone has had to do something like this and what was the effect? Thanks much.

Hello, I had my surgery in Mexico and flew back the next day with connection flights, total flying time all together was about 6hrs and it all went well with no problems.

  5. My gas is much better. Lastnight I got realy hungery for the first time. I have been fine today. I go back to get my fill March 6th. I still have alot of gas but it's coming out instead of getting stuck. I will be one week post-op tomorrow.

Nancy were did u get banded. I went to Mexico and had a great experience. It was also my first time flying and I enjoyed that too. I'm going back for my fills. I have a doctor for fills but I liked Mexico alot so I'll be going back. It's cheaper for me to go back to mexico too. I got a round trip for under $200 and the fill doctor here charge $250 for a fill. My fill there are free for life.

Can someone tell me how to put all my weight info on here.

  6. Thanks for your help, I’m scheduled to have the lap band surgery with doctor Gonzalez for the 30th. I had hoped to meet with peechez in Tijuana but I was not able to have it scheduled close that week. I was able to get the rebate they were offering. I am very anxious but I have been in contact with Gigi, one of his patients and she has been a great source of inspiration for me and gives me peace of mind. Can anyone here tell me a little more about dr g’s liquid diet in the pre-op because I have read some doctors allow fish and chicken in your pre-op, dr. g’s is all liquids plus raw or steamed veggies.

Thank you for any advice. Bee.

Hi Beebic, how did surgery go. I didn't get to go until Feb 6th. Everything went well. Are you going back for fills if so maybe we could me then. I plan to go back for my first fill March 6th.

  8. Thank you so much for the support and prayers. My boyfriend applied for a VA loan 3 weeks ago and didn't tell me. They emailed him asking for his bank info. I pray he is approved. I can wait.

I had my surgery on June 30th and doing well. Still have a little swelling but not much discomfort at this point. I went for my follow-up appt yesterday and I am down 13 lbs. I am so happy I did this and you will be too.

I will pray for you and hope that you find the way to get it done. The best investment you could ever make is the one you make in yourself. I wish you all the best and please keep in touch.

    Sincerely,

    Stephanie

  9. thank you for the info. I just read your message and you now have you lap band, congradulations. I hope things are going well for you. I just started a 401k two years ago so I don't have much there yet but I pray I can come up with a way to get a lap band before the year is up.

I am not sure how good your credit has to be, but the payments were sure going to be expensive and depending on your credit score, they could even be higher than the amounts given on these finance companies websites.

I chose to borrow against my 401k. The payments were going to be much lower and I would basically be paying myself back and also not have the penalties as with early withdrawal. Although weight loss programs aren't tax deductible, surgery is because it is for the treatment of a disease--obesity. Found that bit of info on the IRS website.

Oh, by the way, I am also using TLCEdge as mentioned in earlier posts. The current cost is $11,990 which includes 6 months of aftercare and fills. Psych exam not done there but they do have someone available for $250.00 if you can't get one using your private insurance. Also if you are required to get a sleep study or upper gi, that will also have to be done through your private physician. The people there are very nice and some of them have also been banded with awesome results.

Good luck with your journey. I will be banded on Monday (6/30).

    Sincerely,

    Stephanie
